Review titled Bad practice
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 06 March 2023
Where do I start no leadership staff not trained properly poor communication my mother is not getting any better told she is suffering from delirium on a normal ward she is unable to feed herself or drink staff keep saying she keeps refusing to eat. This maybe because she is not of right mind. Her meds on the last two occasions are left lying around and not locked in a safe place I have mentioned this and all I keep getting told is thanks for letting us know, they are not learning from their mistakes this is very poor practice and very dangerous. I feel my mother is not getting the right care and is on the wrong type of ward for the care that she requires she can not fend for herself and every time I see her she seems worse I’m at my wits end the nhs is well and truly broken

Review titled Awful, DPA breach, lack of care

had a letter in the post for the Neuro department for nerve testing at the QE hospital, it confirmed an appointment date and time, & I recieved a phone call the day before to check I was attending. Upon arrival I booked in, took a seat there was called the the Neuro area, I was informed they didn't know why I was there, even though I had an appointment booked, they couldn't find any referral as to what I needed doing, I explained who had referred me and why, but informed without the referral they couldn't do anything. I then waited over 1 hour and 30mind after my appointment time to be informed I had to go back to the consultant who referred me and ask them to re-refer me over, I informed I wasn't happy with this. I tried calling the medical secretary of the consultant but she was off, I then realised I had a copy of the referral at home, so asked for a photo from a family member at home to be sent to me which it was, the consultant was shocked when I showed him, asked where I had got it from, I informed him this was what you recieved to be able to book this appointment in. I was disgusted by the treatment I recieved from the department, how can you loose a referral letter, can I ask where has my personal confidental information gone as they no.longer had? The whe treatment was awful,.not impressed, first time I have ever been to the QE, and sadly I have to return but lost all confidence I them now to deliver the correct treatment plan for me.

I went into the maternity department to be induced on a Monday and I as there until my baby was delivered by C section and I left on the Thursday. The care from all of the staff in the maternity/labour department was amazing, all staff really took care of us and explained everything that was happening throughout our stay.

Review titled Awful experience
Rated 1 star out of 5

My husband was admitted to hospital in the Peter Smith Surgical ward. The consultant was lovely and some of the staff are lovely too. However, the way some of the staff have treated my husband has been appalling. I am my husbands full-time carer, I know all his medical conditions and these were all given when we arrived in hospital the day they admitted him. I received a call from my husband very upset because he said he was not getting his iv antibiotics, at one point he was not getting his normal pain relief either, which I questioned and then it was given. They seemed to think he was independent and mobile, which he is not, I bought him to hospital in a wheelchair. He is a very complex patient with many mobility problems and also health problems as well and this has not been taken into account. When I went into see him he had two soiled bed sheets left on the floor in his bedroom, his bedside table had been pushed out of reach, headphones out of reach, tv out of reach (which was not working, also the phone was broken), and he could not charge his phone either to contact me. This whole experience is leaving him tramatized, he is so upset and that in turn concerns me about his mental health, we normally avoided situations like this. All I want to do is take him out of the hospital and bring him home, where I can take better care of him myself as an ex carer. I am sorry to say that some of the staff are completely uncaring and should not be in this profession, you simply do not treat disabled people like this. Disgusting. I was hoping that the Queen Elizabeth hospital could restore their reputation to us, but it seems not. If possible I will be either getting him transferred to another hospital or bringing him home as soon as I can. I understand that they are understaffed and they feel that they are not paid enough but you don't take it out on patients.
