  1. Review titled Long wait with little empathy

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Very long waiting times for Gynae related issues, and then cancelled appointments, with a long wait again. When contacting the service, passed around from person to person with very little information or empathy.

  2. Review titled Brilliant supportive maternity services

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anke - Posted on 10 December 2023

There are not enough words to express how grateful I am for the care I received from staff at the Rosie, both ante-natal and during labour/ delivery of my baby. I felt totally supported by the community midwives with my birthing decisions - all of my questions were answered at each appointment and I was impressed with the record keeping. Even though I didn’t see the same midwife every single time, it was clear that they paid attention to my notes and they were aware of my previous questions and concerns. My birth experience was extremely positive despite feeling very scared of the prospect of delivery. My choices were totally respected and when things didn’t go quite to plan, I felt like the clinicians still took the time to explain the next steps to me despite an emergency situation arising. The team responded so quickly when it looked like things were going wrong - I knew we were in safe hands. I’m so grateful to everyone who was in the room during the actual delivery, for getting me and my baby through it safely. I never thought I would feel so calm during labour and birth, especially in those circumstances! I am also really grateful for the post-natal support I received on the ward. I was definitely feeling overwhelmed but the advice and assistance I received before discharge made me feel so much more ready and equipped to take baby home. There are so many headlines in the news at the moment talking about poor maternity care in this country but I absolutely cannot fault my experience with the Rosie, it really exceeded my expectations. Thank you all again.

  3. Review titled Amazing Midwife and Nurse

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anneliese - Posted on 25 September 2023

I went to the hospital due to a very small amount of bleeding at 19 weeks pregnant. I called ahead and spoke to the midwife, who said it sounded like I had nothing to worry about, but she was happy to see me right away for reassurance. We arrived at the hospital around 20 minutes later and were greeted by her right away. She took us into a private room and was so kind and caring. She went to get things ready while I was left with the nurse, who was also lovely and said she would stay with me until my husband arrived (he was just parking the car). The midwife came back and used a Doppler to listen to our baby’s heartbeat, which she found very quickly. She checked the placenta etc. and assured me that her heartbeat was strong and that I had nothing to worry about. She said she would see if she could get the doctor to give me a quick ultrasound scan, however this was during the doctor’s strike so she was unable to get a doctor. She brought the ultrasound scanner into the room and said she would give me a quick scan just to show me that baby was ok. We were so appreciative. She could have easily let us go after finding the heartbeat on the Doppler, but she really wanted to help us as I was quite distressed. Absolutely amazing service, we are so pleased that we’ll be having our baby at the Rosie Hospital, and we can’t thank the staff enough! I just wish we had remembered her name to mention her in this review.

  4. Review titled Very disappointing experience

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 11 September 2023

We had a disappointing experience and did not feel like active participants in decisions made in relation to my labour, which has left us feeling negatively about our son’s birth. Our birth preferences were never discussed with us when we arrived at the Rosie Birth Centre (even if only to explain why they couldn’t be accommodated), and we still don’t know why we were unable to have our baby in the Rosie Birth Centre (where we were booked). Conversations happened around us, not with us, and communication was either non-existent or ineffective. I was left to labour in an unpleasant room in the Delivery Unit, in an environment and position I in no way felt comfortable in, without understanding why certain decisions were being made in relation to my care and what was happening. This was distressing. We did not feel informed in any meaningful way. When I visited triage on a Sunday following complications post-birth, I was talked about (not with) while I was in sight and in hearing distance, challenged on why I had attended The Rosie (rather than my local hospital which had refused to see me because I gave birth at The Rosie) and treated with unkindness at a vulnerable time in my life. Generally, very few members of staff introduced themselves (those who did stood out) and doors were left open while examinations were taking place and private conversations happening. Our antenatal care at The Rosie was excellent by comparison, which only served to underscore how negative our birth and post-birth experience was.

  5. Review titled Incredible hospital

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Maddy - Posted on 27 July 2023

I cannot fault this hospital in any way. I had a completely uncomplicated pregnancy but during labour things took a very unexpected turn for the worst but they acted very quickly and got my baby out within 7 minutes of ringing the alarm. They were in intensive care for 5 days but they were given the absolute best care. They also took great care of me, they answered every question and were always there to make sure I was comfortable and up to date with everything. I will never be able to repay them . They made what could have been a very traumatic situation feel calm and under control. Thank you to everyone at the Rosie. Every single person that we came across was equally as helpful, caring and informed.

  6. Review titled Amazing Staff!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Emma Ball - Posted on 05 July 2023

I delivered my baby boy in the birth centre on the 25th June. I was greeted by a student midwife and midwife and they were both amazing from start to finish. From the moment I arrived I was made to feel safe and calm, They treated me with care and compassion and I cannot thank them enough for their support throughout my experience. Not only did they show care towards me and my baby they also made sure my husband was ok. I cannot thank them enough for their support during my time in their care!

  7. Review titled Great Experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 June 2023

My partner and I arrived on Thursday morning. We were invited to our room by a student midwife who was incredibly welcoming and later met the midwife I would we working with. Both staff were exceptional and knew exactly when to be present and when to step back to let my partner and I tackle contractions. The facilities available at the birth unit were amazing and I made use of the fantastic birthing pool to soothe contractions. The support during the speedy birth of my son made me feel calm and in safe hands throughout. The whole team at the birth centre felt happy and worked as a unit throughout. I would strongly recommend having your baby there in the future!

  8. Review titled Amazing staff, super supportive

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 March 2023

For the entire duration of my pregnancy and birth, the staff at the Rosie were amazing. Each one showed empathy, support and I felt like they really genuinely cared about me and my baby. They explained procedures clearly, allowing an informed choice and although they are under pressure (staffing levels were apparent) they didn’t show this to patients.

  9. Review titled Uncaring During Miscarriage

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 October 2023

So disappointed! I experienced a miscarriage at approximately 6 weeks (not 100% sure on dates) in March. Rang the Early Pregnancy Unit at The Rosie and the staff on the phone were just so cold, blunt, and uncaring. Did not experience an ounce of sympathy or care. Was turned away when requested to come in for a check over when at first it wasn’t clear whether it was a subchronic haematoma or a miscarriage. No scan, no blood work levels checked, nothing, absolutely zero medical care received in person. Was simply asked to ring back in 4 weeks to let them know if a pregnancy test was positive or negative - I was in a very bad place mentally and emotionally and didn’t ring back (in part because I did not want to speak to the clearly uncaring staff again), and nobody bothered checking in to see if I was still pregnant or not. My miscarriage is now not even on file.

  10. Review titled Amazing team

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Adam H - Posted on 27 January 2023

My partner came in to give birth to our first earlier this week. The staff were absolutely awesome in taking care of both my partner and the baby when she arrived. The level of care was exceptional in the birth centre and delivery unit. Huge shout out to the midwife who delivered the baby, they were brilliant at talking through the process and keeping nerves at ease
