  1. Review titled Brilliant Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by David Haworth - Posted on 29 October 2023

As a result of an eye test for new glasses I had an examination at Waters Meeting Clinic as glaucoma was suspected. As these tests were inconclusive I was sent to the Ophthalmology Clinic at the Hospital. After further tests the Doctor was unsure of the reason for a defect in my left eye. He made and appointment for me for an MRI head scan. This happened two weeks later. I had an appointment in the Retina Clinic three weeks later and further tests. The Doctor told me the head scan result was clear and the defect was nothing to worry about and that I could possible have had it from birth. I was discharged. The service and attention I received throughout was excellent, carried out by dedicated, friendly, passionate staff at all levels. Thank you very much, I am so grateful.

  2. Review titled wonderful

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Zara Coen - Posted on 17 October 2023

I would like to highlight my absolute delight at the customer care and service I received at the Royal bolton hospital. Right from entering the hospital (the greeters) and the to the minor Injuries assessment. The gentleman who reviewed me was perfect. He is an asset to the NHS, I did not catch his name but spent almost all day with him throughly being assessed. He was polite, professional and genuinely cared. I was on medication prescribed by portugal Hospital so was a pain rambling on and he took everything in his stride with the upmost professionalism and Care. Thank you so much Doc. So many people complain about the wait and whilst that can be an issue it's actually worth the wait due to the passion and care that is taken once you are requiring treatment. I then had to move to g4. I'm fairly young, 34 and was in a room of a few elderly women with a couple of them being very challenging. The way the nurses and team looked after her was out of this world. She could become violent and nasty and they never retaliated or took it personally, instead they found a way to calm her down. The staff on g4 are nothing short of superheros and if my mum/nan were ever needed to go on that ward I would be honored due to the special people who work there. Every single nurse and assistant who worked on that ward for my stay 12.10.23 - 17.10.23 should be given an award. I hope they are all recognised. They are an asset to the national health service and while I was dreading my stay from previous experience, this was the complete opposite almost wanting to stay. So many people have negative comments about the national health service and nurses so I thought it was very important to share my experience. Happy for you to contact me if you need anymore jnformation but please recognise this ward (g4) and the gentleman who dealt with me in minor injuries. Have a great day. Kind regards Miss Zara Coen

  5. Review titled Accident and Emergency Department

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 September 2023

Ambulance to a&e on arrival ECG and bloods taken then moved to a corridor to wait with the 11 other patients on trolleys, all waiting for a cubicle in a&e After much asking I was eventually told the wait was going to be very long, maybe 6 - 8 hours, and currently the longest waiting has been for close to 8 hours. Absolutely awful, what is happening with our NHS that we are leaving patients on trolleys, blocking corridors for hours and hours. RBH A&E is just not fit for purpose anymore. A patient who can’t mobilise being left on a hospital trolley for that long poses a risk of blood clots especially when they are a bariatric patient with chronic pain, leg swelling, and can barely move. No checks were made as to if they could get on and off the trolley on their own, i.e no risk assessment, no pillow offered or blanket to preserve the dignity of the patient who was wearing short pyjamas, and they were left at the back of a corridor by a drafty automatic door used by ambulance crews and smokers. Asked for a pillow, but after three hours no-one brought one. Patient discharged themselves after four hours in the corridor despite being unwell, and was forced into signing a discharge paper which was the most interaction they had with staff during the five hours they were there.

  6. Review titled Saved my son's life

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Julie porter - Posted on 16 September 2023

From arriving with my 34 year old son in a and e, to being seen in urgent care, scan, blood tests, wards f3 to being operated on and finally ward e4, my son received fantastic care. They literally saved his life. Thank you just doesn't seem enough. The surgeons even spoke to me/rang me to say he was ok, they made me feel like they really cared my son was not just a number. Above and beyond care from literally everyone. In less than 12 hours we had been through the whole process, included his recovery after a 4-41/2 hour operation. After care on both wards was fantastic... Thank you guys. He stayed 06/09/2023-15/09/2023

  7. Review titled Standards

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Daughter not offered hand wash post rectal medication given by herself, on morphine asked nurse if could go to toilet nurse replied can she get off trolly & go herself with (numb legs). Student nurse, morning shift went from patient to patient on corridor never cleaned observation equipment, (covid, infection control) wrote results on torn crumpled tissue in hand! don't they learn to carry note pad or paper?, they do a degree for that poor standard its scary, no lessons learned. daughter never saw a doctor, waited hours from 6am admission had kidney stones, passing blood. Nurse practitioner from surgical unit came on moved her there, diagnosed after scan & gave treatment in surgical unit which was very quiet & well run by Nurse Practitioner who was great all staff in that unit were great. A&E like a third world country, no eye contact, from staff massive waits & not for trivia. Furthermore, if not the patient and carer needed then tell all family/friends to wait somewhere else, one women been there''16hrs''.

  8. Review titled Exceeded my expectations

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Bill - Posted on 31 August 2023

Attended A@E with my son - who is in his mid 30’s - who is never Ill. Took him in my car. Chest tightness and pains with breathlessness. Dizzy and feeling sick. Really unwell. Booked in, triaged and ecg’d within 30 minutes. Luckily he wasn’t having a heart attack. X-ray’d and seen by a Doctor pretty sharpish - diagnosis and care plan within a couple of hours - place was packed with the usual suspects but given the symptoms he was obviously prioritised. Staff were courteous, efficient and professional. My faith in the NHS restored. The only people that have to bother about prompt treatment are the authors of their own misfortune and malingerers.

  10. Review titled Autistic Nightmare

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 August 2023

I attended A&E since I could not get a face-to-face appointment with a GP. I had been experiencing ongoing numbness and back pain for several weeks and felt there was no alternative than to visit A&E when I became much worse, and I was told to attend via 111. Triaged quickly and asked to attend to Urgent Care Centre in another part of the hospital, did this, handed my notes in and took a seat. For someone with autism (which seemingly is not flagged on my NHS Shared Care Record) waiting in the Urgent Care Centre was awful, the lights were far too bright in the waiting room, teamed with the bright yellow paint on the wall, it was just painful to sit there, add that to the small portable radio blaring out loud music, it’s just aimed to lead me to a sensory overloading meltdown, and no staff around to ask if there was somewhere else to wait given my autism. I also noted people who were arriving after me were being seen before me, after 60 minutes I had to leave, as my brain could not cope with the over stimulation anymore. I left in tears, health problem unresolved.
