  1. Review titled Superb care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Eileen Stark - Posted on 22 July 2024

My neighbour had a bad fall on Saturday morning! I took her to Bmouth ED where she was taken straight in for treatment! She had some terrible cuts resulting in some big skin flaps! Hats off to a wonderful lady who worked miracles! Thankfully nothing was broken but she was checked thoroughly before being allowed home later in the day! She asked me to pass on her sincere thanks! I would like to add my thanks for all your kindness and care! Thank you again

I underwent an ECG at Bournemouth hospital on the 19th June 2024 and despite making several attempts to obtain the results I have still heard absolutely nothing from this hospital

  3. Review titled Unbelievable night staff nurse

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Leandra - Posted on 17 June 2024

One nurse in particular stood out as soon as she arrived. She was friendly and very kind. Throughout the noisy night, 2 of the elderly patients on my ward were becoming distressed and agitated. She took the time to sit with each of them and calmed them babk to sleep lovingly and gently. All yesterday one of the ladies refused to eat or drink all day. This morning the night nurse gently encouraged her to do both. An absolute hero.

  4. Review titled Fantastic care from staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Alan Hamshere - Posted on 12 June 2024

I had to go into the cardiac intervention unit for a stent I was taken to the bed where I met a nurse and her team I was put at easy. I explained that the last time I had a stent at a different hospital it was very painful she not to worry she would talk to the surgeon. A nurse took blood and put a cannular in he was very gentle and friendly. I then down for surgery and met all the team and again very friendly and professional and very little pain. After care is fantastic back on the ward. Just wanted to say a massive thank you to all the staff for looking after me so well

  5. Review titled Atrocious discharge procedure

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 May 2024

Had to wait all day for my surgery due to late change in order. Was presented with an important decision to make regarding anaesthesia immediately prior to surgery and elected for Rapid Sequence Induction. I was pleasantly surprised when post surgery I spent the night in Bpc and not ward 7 as expected. The night staff on Bpc were fantastic. The following day however, the experience was less than satisfactory with language barrier issues which at times was challenging. The duty doctor responsible for discharge, in my experienceclearly had no interest in talking to patients. He was abrupt and couldn't leave quick enough. Repeated failure by him to complete discharge paperwork correctly ensued and I eventually decided to discharge without the paperwork & without a follow up appointment booked. It is clear that from my experience most nursing and general support staff are caring, attentive and professional, this however was let down by a lack of process, which led to poor planning, and chaotic discharge or in my case lack of discharge. There was a clear lack of communication and accountability which perhaps underlines why the nhs is in a critical state. Overall my stay at Bournemouth Private Clinic was pleasant and staff were mostly very attentive. The surgery team seemed competent which is reassuring, and I met with a physio briefly to see how I could manage crutches, however, there is a clear lack of process especially with discharge and aftercare. Which for me was non existant. Rbh in my experience requires significant changes around, process, procedures, continuous improvement and accountability. Until this happens it is likely to get worse.

  6. Review titled Horrendous breast cancer experience

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 May 2024

24 Hours without any food 18 Hours without a drink of water 12 Hours waiting for surgery. Not a single explanation about what was happening. Totally ignored by doctor, nurses... Appalling behaviour. I am a Foreign OAP and I was shaking, distressed, crying, fainted, dizzy, aching all over... not sympathy at all from the doctors and nurses.

  7. Review titled Excellent care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Ann Cowell - Posted on 27 May 2024

I would like to express my great appreciation of a recent admission overnight to the Emergency Department at the Royal Bournemouth. From the initial quick and helpful answer from the ambulance call handler to the subsequent swift arrival of the ambulance with the lovely paramedics the care was fantastic. This continued in the Emergency waiting area where all the paramedics were very attentive, carrying out tests as necessary and keeping a close eye on all of us, and then kind and excellent care continuing on the main emergency ward. Thank you Royal Bournemouth Hospital and the wonderful staff.

  8. Review titled First Class Treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I attended A&E with my son last night after having been advised after having rung 111 due to my experiencing a severe panic attack was seen by a triage nurse after having to wait for 20 minutes. The nurse asked some questions, did a couple of tests and made a phone call. She was very kind and helpful. She advised me that I could either wait for 6 hours to see a doctor or make an appointment for today. Just before we left the nurses phone rang and she advised us that a doctor could see us right away in ED. The doctor who saw me was the most kind, reassuring, professional and unhurried doctor it has been my good fortune to have met in the NHS. I am so gratefull to her and all the staff at RBH last night. Thank you so much. May 21, 21:00.

  9. Review titled Disappointed with the attitude of some of the staff

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Yolanda - Posted on 17 May 2024

I went for breast cancer surgery for the second time in one year, it was perfect on April 2023, sadly things have got bad just in a few months. It is so disorganised that they even forgot to send the letters with new appointments, on the day of the surgery I was waiting for 8 hours and I had nothing to eat for 24 hours, the attitude of the doctor was not sympathetic at all, I had lots of problems with the discharge process, total confusion, very rude staff, specially the woman carrying patients on a wheelchair, the refusal from the doctors to give me any pain killers to take home even when I was in pain and I live on my own. When I had breast cancer surgery a year ago I was given some strong painkillers to take home with a chart to write the times that I had to take the medication. Sadly it has been a total disaster this time, no sympathy at all from the staff. So disappointed and sad, I am trying to buy some strong painkillers online because the pain is unbearable and this time the doctors refused to give anything. I wish that it would have been as positive as it was 12 months ago.
