  1. Review titled These letters and requests are very unwelcome

    by orionsq94 - Posted on 12 January 2024

I am currently receiving treatment for interval breast cancer, which has been amazing and of the highest quality, with compassionate and professional staff. I received an invitation for breast screening, shortly after my diagnosis. I cancelled this, explaining the reason for the cancellation. Staff responded and were very helpful. However I subsequently received another invitation, just after my mastectomy, to attend in March. I cancelled this, and received an apology and was informed that I would be invited again in 3 years time. This morning I was dismayed to receive a text asking me to review my experience, following my breast screening appointment today. I haven't had an appointment for today. Having had a mastectomy 2 days ago, these letters and requests are very unwelcome. I need to focus on my recovery. Please can you check your records again and stop this from happening again.

My experience with Treliske Hospitals Cardiology Department was fantastic. From my inital process, which was very professional and totally pain free to my recovery and departure, that was second to none, nothing was too much trouble. A wonderful team, that made me feel safe and cared for.

  3. Review titled Serious mistake

by stonem - Posted on 12 December 2023

I recently received an injection of Eylea in my left eye. I returned home afterwards and all was as previous injections - watery eye, gradual improvement of vision, slight discomfort. The next day everything was the same. However when I got up to go the bathroom early the next day I was aware of restricted vision in my left eye. I went back to bed. When I awoke in the morning and called Treliske explaining my concerns, I was told that I would get a call back. I waited until lunch time and called again. I was informed that I would get a call back that day. At 4pm I spoke to someone about the condition of my vision in my left eye. I asked if this was normal and would my blurred vision clear. I gave a clear description of what appeared to be blackish/rouge blobs obscuring my vision.I was assured that this was not unusual and to see how I was on Monday and to call back if nothing had changed. I had a feeling of overreacting if I didn't give it a bit more time. On the Tuesday my vision had not changed so I called Eye Casualty in the early morning. When I explained my condition I was given an appointment immediately for the Thursday. I was seen promptly on arrival at the Eye unit. Photographs were taken and I was informed that I had had a bleed in my left eye, which was caused by the disease and could have been operated on if seen sooner - i.e.at the time of my first calls on the Friday. They also told me that they would most likely have proceeded with an operation with consent, but that because of the delay it was now too late. I have since been sent a letter which says that I was not keen for surgery, which is incorrect. I was called on the Tuesday to be told they are sending a second letter correcting this. If they had recommended surgery I would have heeded their advice. As it was, this was academic because of the delay in being seen. My question is why was I not called in on the initial Friday for a face to face consultation? Whoever I spoke to made a wrong assumption as to what had occurred - i.e. a bleed which needed to be seen asap. An examination was vital and wrong advice led to an opportunity missed. What was the chain of command, who gave the advice to wait over the weekend? Was it a junior or a consultant? I personally think that things need to change so that this can not happen again. I must say that I have received multiple injections and am more than happy with the treatment that has been afforded to me by the NHS and the delightful staff I have encountered.

  5. Review titled The teamwork displayed by the entire staff was nothing short of fabulous

    by wateryd65 - Posted on 19 December 2023

My daughter recently underwent a procedure to create space for her braces at the orthodontics clinic. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly and professional receptionist. The entire experience, from interacting with the fantastic nurses, the orthodontic team, the anaesthetist, and the surgeon, to the aftercare team, was exceptional. Every step of the way, my daughter received exemplary care and was treated with the utmost respect. The team was thorough in their approach, taking the time to explain every aspect of the procedure to my daughter. They provided clear instructions, ensuring she was well-informed, and also took the initiative to reassure me as a parent. The entire staff demonstrated a first-class and superb level of professionalism. I particularly want to commend the aftercare lady. She is truly a godsend and deserves recognition, perhaps even a medal. The teamwork displayed by the entire staff was nothing short of fabulous. The aftercare and support were excellent, and the documents provided were clear and comprehensive. Before any procedures or agreements were made, everything was explained thoroughly, including details about medications and self-care. Thanks to their efforts, I couldn't have asked for a more anxiety-free environment for my daughter's treatment.

  6. Review titled My recent visit to A & E - pass on my gratitude

by TONYPA - Posted on 23 December 2023

I was treated promptly, courteously and with great efficiency after my unannounced arrival. All the staff I encountered at every stage of my diagnosis (which was for a large lump as a result of a recent pacemaker implant) were beyond praise, as a result I now feel absolutely fine and looking forward to Christmas. I would be grateful if you passed on my gratitude to all who looked after me that morning. Having completed a full examination, I was sent home at 1.15 pm. So much for all the bad publicity that A & E departments have been having in recent weeks.

  7. Review titled The nurses were very helpful and cheerful

    by bluetg34 - Posted on 12 January 2024

The nurses were very helpful and cheerful. I am concerned about the operation as when I have anything in my eye I have a noise like thunder in my ears which makes me close my eyes, what worries me is if I get this at the time they are operating I may move my eye, I was hoping that I could be sedated.

  8. Review titled Dignity and caring staff

    by Anon1966 - Posted on 12 January 2024

I was referred to the Rapid Access Prostrate investigation and diagnosis clinic following concerns of a raised PSA. I attended the clinic and despite being there earlier than the time given I was seen almost immediately. After giving a urine sample for tests I was then seen by the specialist nurse and consultant. They spoke to me about the reason for referral and I was given an intimate examination. Following this they told me there was no immediate concerns but would refer me for a MRI for further examination, which takes place this week. From the time of arrival to the time I left took no more than 30/40 minutes. The three members of the team that I saw were very professional and I felt I was dealt with the dignity and care the situation deserved.

  9. Review titled Excellent care, Excellent staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Annette Murrell - Posted on 31 January 2024

Just prior to Christmas I was admitted to the Coronary Care Unit as an emergency where I had to stay and have tests prior to transfer to Derriford for surgery between Christmas and the New Year. The care and support I received whilst on the ward by all staff was wonderful and helped me through what a really frightening and difficult time. A huge thank you to all staff on the CCU from me and my family.
