  2. Review titled Unprofessional receptionists

Rated 2 stars out of 5

    by G.D - Posted on 22 April 2024

I arrived early for my 13:00 appointment at the imaging department and was signed in(apparently). After about an hour of waiting, I overheard the two receptionists gossiping about another patient in front of myself and other waiting patients. I confronted them, and they apologised, I then realised that I had been waiting over an hour, when I queried this, I was told I wasn't booked in, even though the receptionist took my appointment letter and typed it in. I told them that happened because they were not paying attention and were busy gossiping. I was eventually seen about 14:30. On the other hand, the Imaging consultant was very professional and was very troubled to hear what I had to say.

  3. Review titled Great helpful staffbut slow to update hearing aid range

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Lauren Raven - Posted on 19 November 2023

Great staff when i go there for appointments very helpful in trying to find answers to any queries I may have had but over the last few months I have had increasing issues with manual dexterity and painful hands making it hard for me to open the battery doors on my Cros aids and put batteries in and take them out I’m forever losing batteries to the point where is now getting embrassing. There are days where i can’t even wear my hearing aids due to pain in my wrist’s and fingers. I have told them this and asked if there are other options but all they say is that they will find out and then come back and say there aren’t any other options. I really need rechargeable cros hearing aids but can’t afford to go private to get them where is the duty of care? why are they so slow to update there range. Would they leave an elderly person in the same position as me without a rechargeable option.

  4. Review titled Great radiology department

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Nicholas N - Posted on 25 August 2023

Arrived a little early but was seen promptly by the radiologist. She was friendly and made the experience easy and comfortable, alongside her colleague. She also gave me a call to check in on my well being due to something that had turned up in my MRI scan, although she did stress that it was not an assessment and that the results would be flagged and passed over to a consultant. However I appreciate that she ran through some NHS questions over the phone to check for possible symptoms that I might have, and gave some good advice in regard to if I had some concerns as well as what the next steps might be. I was very grateful for the call and care, and it showed that they cared about their job and what they do. I would highly recommend this hospital in general. Also the ENT doctors in general have been great with their care and attention. The wait times for appointments can be long, but that is understandable due to the strains we hear about with the NHS. Happy with the service though, and again grateful to the radiology appointment.

  5. Review titled Refusal to accept referral

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Robert Paul Hudson - Posted on 03 June 2023

My dentist referred me to yourselves due to root resorption of one of my canine teeth. Unfortunately you refused to accept the referral. Your refusal to even put me on the waiting list will necessitate me having to spend many thousands to have the procedure done privately. I have worked for the NHS for many years, as did my father and sister before me. I have never experienced such poor treatment as provided by yourselves. You are supposed to be a tertiary treatment centre, it is about time you started acting like one.

My consultant said on my last appointment that my next appointment is in may. It's may. No appointment. I messaged them, no answer for weeks.

  7. Review titled Poor signposting for travel costs claims

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 March 2023

The details published online seem to refer to historical versions of benefits and transport systems- these things are largely paperless nowadays. The signposting is nonexistent. The staff have not been trained to help. Poverty in this country is now such that people unable to work due to illness cannot pay these costs.

I would just like to say the receptionist I spoke to on my visit to the hospital was very kind and helpful in arranging a follow up appointment. I really appreciated the care that was shown.

  9. Review titled Terrible ENT Admin

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 June 2023

The ENT Consultant I am under is lovely, however, it is a different matter when it comes to the ENT Admin Department, which is absolutely awful. They never answer the telephone or reply to any of my emails to them. Even trying to change an appointment is a nightmare. One time last year I needed to change my appointment as I was going to be on holiday. As I couldn't get hold of my consultant's secretary either via email or on the telephone, I ended up ringing the outpatient booking team who kindly changed the appointment for me. They had to send the ENT secretary an email to let them know they had done this for me, as the ENT secretary should have changed the appointment for me, not them. Then a few months ago I sent an email to my ENT doctor via the generic ENT email address. One week later I hadn't had a reply to my first email so I sent another chasing email to my doctor via the same generic email address. Another week went by and no reply, so eventually I contacted Pals regarding this. That did the trick and one of the ENT registers phoned me to apologize. Now fast forward to last week when I found out that the ENT Admin team had changed my ENT appointment from July 2023 to August 2023. However, it didn't appear that they had booked my appointment with the ENT Consultant I am under, so I sent another email to the generic ENT email address to query this, as I couldn't get to speak to anyone over the phone. The phone just keeps ringing and then cuts off. I rang the outpatient booking team a couple of times but they couldn't tell me which consultant/doctor I had been booked in to see. However, the last time I rang the outpatient booking team the person I spoke to was very helpful and sent an email to the ENT Line Manager regarding this. The person from the outpatient booking team kindly rang me back to say that the ENT Line Manager had sent an email to my Consultant's secretary, asking them to contact me to reschedule my appointment to my consultant's Clinic, as the clinic I had been booked into wasn't one of my consultant's clinics. I am still waiting to hear from the secretary regarding this. For the past year or so I have not been able to speak to my ENT Surgeons secretary over the phone, and they haven't responded to any of my emails. This has made things very stressful for me. Something needs to be done to sort this problem out as soon as possible. I have noticed, looking at some other posts, that I am not the only ENT patient that has had problems with contacting the ENT Admin team. This shows that there are major issues with this department.

  10. Review titled No answer

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 December 2022

I have an upcoming appointment and when I was asked to confirm my appointment by text my response “wasn’t recognised” despite me following the Instructions. I therefore tried to call and confirm and was on hold for 20 minutes and gave up. Irritating hold music. I have waited 18 months for this allergy referral having suffered from anaphylaxis. It is not acceptable.
