Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Morgan Haynes - Posted on 18 September 2024
Had my first newborn baby that was delivered through an emergency c section and I cannot praise enough everyone in that room who delivered my baby safe and sound. From the staff taking me in to be induced to being looked after whilst having my section.

Review titled Blood clinic dangerous practice
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 01 October 2024
I attended blood clinic. The needle was inserted and blood drawn then fir some reason the gentleman inserted the needle further causing horrendous pain in thumb and wrist. He did not remove needle but continued to draw blood even though I was clearly in a lot of pain. He had no concern removed needle sent me off. Had to visit GP due to excruciating pain. Is this guy trained? If he is then he needs reassessing he is dangerous. No duty of care

Review titled Wonderful Care and Wonderful Staff !
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mrs C E GRANT - Posted on 09 August 2024
I cannot express enough how thankful I am to everyone in whose care I was , before and after my very recent incarcerated hernia repair Op. ( I was not a cancer patient but it was the Colorectal Surgical dept, there doesn't appear to be an option to choose this dept on the lists of depts ! ) The Lead Consultant Surgeon, the Anesthesist and all the Nursing Staff in whatever their job title carried were excellent, not only in using their skills to give me the very best care but, also in the way they were always so very encouraging, assuring and so obviously dedicated to their Profession. I was a nervous patient, no one normally goes into hospital gung ho! everyone is nervous but I was especially so, until my Consultant put me at my ease by his approachable and very kind, gentle manner He talked with me, not at me and listened and did not make me feel rushed or unable to confide my fears with him. Likewise the Anaesthetist who was extremely patient and kind and explained everything again without me feeling rushed . The manner of these 2 brilliant professionals and the help they gave to me was so overwhelming and an answer to prayer. And it was, after my Op a blessing indeed to be admitted onto Ward 11 ( Ward that admits patients straight after the recovery dept) . The Staff there also made sure that the atmosphere in the bays were kept calm and although they were kept busy every patient was treated with excellent care, kindness and encouragement. All this was done by them in the most cheerful, reassuring way. They must have been exhausted sometimes after their 12 hour long shifts, but we patients were not affected by this as the Nursing Staff were always the same with us, never hesitant to listen ,on the ball and always there to help in every way, when and where needed. I cannot fault in any way those in whose care I was in. This recent experience as an in patient has certainly reassured me that we must be so very grateful and supportive of this marvellous service, unlike any other Country and fight to save it! The Only negative point about my hospital stay and I must say, this latter part is only because I'm a very fussy eater,is that I found the majority of the meals not to my liking and that the portions were far too big and quite daunting, especially just after a major Op. There must be alot of food wastage when for example what appears to be a whole can of beans or stack of carrots or whatever are not eaten by the patients who are like myself put off either by the size of their main meal or the presentation and sometimes taste of it. However in the grand scheme of things what is most important is that , whilst in hospital you receive the best care and be discharged when fit knowing that you did in fact receive The Best Care given by those who Care and take pride in their Profession doing so with their patient first and foremost in mind. Thank You Everyone for my care end of July 2024 until my discharge on 08/08/2024.

Visiting our Grandson, airlifted to the Royal Preston trauma unit 13 days ago, after his motorcycle accident, we were very impressed with the very high professional standards of all staff we encountered and were told about. Amazing theatre and nursing staff getting the job done under pressure so well. We are very impressed and grateful to you all.

Review titled Diabetes service
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 22 October 2024
After having type 1diabetes for 15 years I’ve always found the diabetes service good up until recently. I’ve never needed to use the service for any reasons other than routine appointments however now when I’ve found myself finding my diabetes control tough I feel there is a lack of support and urgency to support this life long condition. Struggling to control my blood sugar after working hard to gain control, and wanting to start a family next year I was told I qualify for a pump but cannot have one as there isn’t the staff to train me how to use it! This is ridiculous as I should be able to have control over how I manage my daily diabetes. I have been told by consultants that I will not get my control down with injections alone and a pump may be the best way moving forward. To be told there is something which could make living with this difficult condition a little easier, but I cannot have it simply due to a lack of staff is disgusting

Review titled Excellent Care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by David Butterfield - Posted on 08 November 2024
In May this year, while abroad on Holiday I was diagnosed with a kidney tumor. I attended Preston A&E and was introduced to the Urology department. On 1st July I had my right kidney removed by a Da Vinci robot operated by a top Urology surgeon. She was a tremendously skilled surgeon supported by an amazing team. I was in hospital for one night only and within two weeks, I was fit and healthy. Can't thank the Urology, Admin, and Anesthetists teams enough. In this region, we are lucky to have such a talented caring group of health care professionals.

Review titled Fantastic service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Don Hagger - Posted on 20 July 2024
I was taken ill on a journey from the south of England to the north of Scotland and directed to Preston Royal Infirmary by 111. The service I received was fantastic. Everybody was friendly and helpful. I was kept informed all the way through as to what was going on. My treatment was exceedingly thorough. I can’t thank all your staff even. Receptionist, triage team, blood takers, ECG, Cat Scan and the doctor and all the other staff who helped and I didn’t meet Don

Review titled Horrible service and very dirty wards
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Concerned tax paying patient - Posted on 10 July 2024
The neurology wards of this hospital that I experienced today are disgusting - very dirty and the air filter vents full of dirt. Doctors are too busy to speak to patients and a variety of healthcare assistants wander round with no clear purpose. I tried several times to talk to the doctors on call but they kept saying they would come but didn't. The patient in the bed next to mine was served mouldy toast for breakfast. Absolute disgrace.
