My partner had a suspected 'TIA" and from entering A&E he was seen within 5minutes . We were there for around 5hrs and they were very thorough on checking everything and we had a wonderful trainee doctor that explained everything. Very thankful for all the care the hospital gave

Review titled The worst hospital in the uk
Rated 1 star out of 5

I fainted at work after just being there for 2 hours, the paramedics showed up and they didn’t sound comforting at all, I’d only just come round and they said “ur awake now I’m not helping you off the floor get up” which is just so rude, they took an ecg and found an abnormality so they thought it was best to send me to the fit to sit area in a&e, I had to sit in the ambulance for 30mins before they checked me into a&e (could have done it quicker myself) , once in there I was waiting for an hour before someone decided to take my blood and then asked “what are u in here for” , like I thought the paramedics told them when they checked me in the nurse didn’t even know I needed a ecg check again until I explained that’s why I’m here I don’t need my blood tested, back in the waiting room for another 2 hours just to speak to a medical student where I have to explain my whole situation again (surely they have my notes on file ??), the student didn’t have any equipment she had to use her phone for the torch and the beds we’re disgusting with footprints from other patients on and empty cups of water on the tray, again back waiting for another hour all for the doctor to say “I’ve lost your ecg results we have to take them again” , back waiting another hour and he tells me finally “u must have just been dehydrated and ur ecg doesn’t concern me u can go” like what is going on with this hospital, couldn’t the paramedics just told me I might have been dehydrated and sent me home then and looked at my file to see my previous ecg results are the same as now. There was people seriously ill in the waiting room who had been there longer than me, like why is it taking 5 hours to get a blood test back to a girl who has mental health issues and is waiting with a diy bandage for her cut arms. I also saw a man who said he had been there for 7 hours get offered to go home with just pain relief- that is shocking . There was only 4 beds in the fit to sit , doctors so disorganised, medical students looking lost, nurses walking extremely slowly and looking bored, meanwhile we are suffering and having to wait hours to get a not even half decent diagnosis just so we can leave . I do not recommend this hospital to anyone unless u just want to be sat waiting to get 0 respect and patient care , there is a reason it is ranked one of the worst hospitals and has a documentary on how bad it is here

Review titled Excellent care at RSH
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Lindsay C - Posted on 17 September 2024
I was taken by ambulance to Shrewsbury Hospital with chest pains. Arrived at Accident & Emergency, was treated promptly, all tests were undertaken without delay and staff were all fantastic. Had to stay for observation and to see a Cardiologist, was moved to ward 35. Again, all staff were efficient and caring. Food choices were good and quality was excellent. Well done Royal Shrewsbury Hospital! I ❤️ The Nhs 😊

Review titled Personal and pleasant

I attended an appt in the treatment centre today with my 6 year old grandson who has broken his arm. He is a tricky little character so I had come along to support my daughter. From the minute we entered the site I was impressed. There is obvious building work going on and the very first thing we see is a lollipop person helping people cross the road.. how helpful! On entering the treatment centre we were greeted by someone who showed us where to go…again, how lovely. We arrived at the fracture clinic and the person on reception was polite and efficient. We sat down for barely a minute or two and we were called in to a cubicle area. The person showed us the x rays and explained in language that my grandson understood, exactly what had happened and reassured us that it would heal quickly. Within minutes we were in the plaster room and greeted by the most amazing person which put my grandson at ease immediately with jokes and general larking around. It really was a fun experience for him and us too. Even after the cast was on and we’d left the room (waiting to make an appt at reception) the person was engaging with my grandson through the glass in the door. What a great experience for him. The person on reception was also very pleasant again and engaged with my grandson …well done the whole team!

Review titled Thank you
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I received excellent care and support from every single member at Shrewsbury Hospital. This made my experience a positive and happy one at a very vulnerable time in my life. I was treated with kindness and was kept ‘in the loop’ during every bit of my journey. I felt reassured and safe and thank you for ‘fixing’ me so I can carry on with the rest of my life, From the moment I dialled 111, from the swift arrival of a first responder and paramedics, I was swiftly taken into A and E and later on to the Acute Medical ward. My days were not only spent on drips and observations but love and laughter. Follow up procedure was in the Treatment centre where my high anxiety was calmed by a very caring staff. I returned to the Princess Royal Telford to discuss my procedure soon afterwards and received informative feedback and reassurance from the consultant Thank you but I hope I don’t have to return again!!!!!!

Review titled Amazing staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by ANDREW SEMPLE - Posted on 14 August 2024
Last night I went to A & E at 1am, I have over the last twelve months visited A & E with catheter problems. Usually when I arrive I have been in at least some discomfort often worse last night was no exception. The staff in accident and emergency just seem to get their heads down and get stuck in always cheerful and supportive always under pressure with ever more "customers" waiting. The level of attention has always been top notch and the care given has been of the best. I can say that I have always had every reason to be grateful for the skill they have all shown. Yes sometimes the wait is longer than one would like but being busy means just that. I think we are lucky to have such dedicated people working for us at a time of great need. Thank you

Review titled Excellence of care

On sunday whilst trying to return home, I was in severe pain due to urinary retention. We decided to attend shrewsbury hospital a&e dept as the pain was increasing. on arrival, I was met with kindness, professionalism and compassion by each and every staff member from the receptionist, triage nurse, doctor, nurse specialist, a&e consultant, urology consultant and domestic technician. We eventually left some 6 hrs later to return home to the midlands, but not before the latter gentleman bought my wife a pack of sandwiches, crisps and biscuits saying " you can't drive home with nothing to eat!" and refusing any payment !!! I assured all the staff that I would send a commendation to the Chief Executive and Board members to highlight the above. I would also simply ask that this commendation is communicated to the staff of the a&e department of the hospital to encourage them, from a very grateful patient. m. a stock.

Review titled First class care and treatment

Due to concerns of risk of stroke I presented at A & E in Aug 2024. I was attended to immediately and over my four day stay at the hospital I was repeatedly impressed by the staff providing care at all levels including cleaning, catering, assistants, nurses, doctors, administrators and consultants. Without exception I was attended to without delay, all staff were courteous, patient, friendly, diligent, professional, caring and supportive despite their obvious heavy workload. I am extremely satisfied with the service and care I received and wish to extend my sincere thanks to all involved.

Review titled 4 hours and counting
Rated 1 star out of 5
by TRACEY PRINCE - Posted on 06 June 2024
Been sitting here in A&E now after bring sent by 111 and we are 4 hours and counting. So far have seen a triage nurse 3.45 hours ago. Asked several times what the wait time is or even when we are likely to get seen to just be told' we are busy. However, I'm not disputing that the dept is busy but the absolute lack of information or updates is appalling. Why can't NHS at least post some time of wait possible. Royal Shrewsbury is no busier than any other NHS hospital and yet they manage to give updates.

I have recently attended the Breast Clinic and would like to thanks the department for the quality of service I received and the professionalism and thoroughness of the staff. I have been under the Breast Care team for four years and have nothing but praise for them. This is a quality service that the NHS can be extremely proud of. Thank you all for the care, compassion and dedication you have shown me during my illness, recuperation and ongoing care. You are literally life savers.
