Review titled Professional, friendly, and helpful
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 14 November 2024
First visit to Gastro outpatients. Easy check in, helpful receptionists. Gastro nurse excellent doing and explaining scan. Brilliant phlebotomist especially as many previously have said that I have hard to find veins. Disappointed by the very poor experience at Lloyds pharmacy by main entrance collecting my prescription.

Review titled an unbelievable bad experience with the hospital team.
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Gregory - Posted on 28 October 2024
This hospital was unbelievably atrocious. they had me, my wife and sick child waiting in a waiting since 12 am to 3:15 in the morning. I could understand if this hospital was busy today, but there are only three people with their children in the children’s A E who have been sitting here longer than I even have, waiting for assistance which they still haven’t gotten. in general, this hospital is very unprofessional and not serious and I would not recommend anyone to his hospital. my daughter had an allergic reaction we think but ever since she’s been born, nothing like this has happen so we came to this hospital. we was escorted to a nurse who then told us to sit in the waiting room until a doctor came to tend our needs, but no doctor came and at the moment, we still don’t know if my child is diagnosed with an allergy or not. once again, I do not recommend coming to this hospital. CQC need to change their rating form requires improvement to inadequate.

Review titled Excellent midwife
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Demi - Posted on 12 October 2024
I was my friends birthing partner & I was super impressed with her midwife & the student midwife. They were very observant and caring, & quickly picked up on the complications that occurred throughout. They were so down to earth and just absolutely lovely human beings, perfect for anyone feeling nervous and anxious about giving birth, they really made my friend feel safe & they listened to all of her concerns and acted accordingly. My friend had the best midwife and It’s a shame we can’t mention names, as she really deserves the recognition. I hope you know who you are. You are an absolute credit to the Royal stoke hospital and an asset to the maternity team. Thank you for looking after my friend and her baby so well x

Review titled AEC Unit unfit for purpose
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 15 October 2024
* Told 3 people in front to see the doctor, 6 hours later and 15 people seen but I still had not been seen. * Nurses shuffling paperwork without viewing to get their own friends to the top. * Nurses on reception shouting across the room at other staff. * I walked out after 6 hours without being seen and getting a call once home by doctor saying they have been looking for me for hours! But then admitted they hadn’t ! Wanting me to return for a scan ! Other patients were sent for a scan after triage yet they neglected me. Heart attack or not I won’t be returning here.

Review titled Awful patient care
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Nicholas brown - Posted on 06 September 2024
Came in with my partner for a suspected broken foot after been told be the 111 service to visit one hospital only to be told afterwards that they are passing xray patents on to another one. Took nearly 5 1/2 hours for my partner to be taken for an xray on her foot then only to be left then for a further 3 hours before she was seen which in my opinion when someone who is in pain and spent most of the night sat in A&E on metal chairs which is not comfortable at all. I would not recommend coming back to this hospital again they need more staff and better care for there patients. It is unacceptable for the NHS to have people waiting for just under 10 hours to be seen.

Dear Mr Brown, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your partner's care during their visit to our ED. I am truly sorry to read of the extended wait time they encountered. Unfortunately, our Emergency Department is seeing an unprecedented demand which is massively impacting wait times and subsequently, our patients experience. I will share your feedback with our ED management team for their information and reflection. I do hope your partner is now recovering well. With best wishes Rebecca Pilling Head of Patient Experience

Attended A&E after being brought in by the ambulance team, knew the medication I needed as I was bleeding heavily following a miscarriage we were Left 4 and a half hours bleeding out. I Passed out, went to resus to be given the medication I asked for (after one Dr said I could not have it) and also a blood transfusion. The third time we’ve experienced awful care from this hospital. Attend a different hospital with your loved ones please.

Been in every other week to no relief of symptoms. Quickly get through triage to them wait up to ten hours to be referred back to gp. The GP then sends you back to no avail shift 1 & 2 are worse then the original hospital system.

Review titled Difference between Wards
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by StephanEdwards - Posted on 07 August 2024
My partner was admitted to critical care . Over her two week stay in Pod6 the care was excellent . The information and the ability to gain information was second to none with people answering telephones and information being given via a pass word system . At no time was I diverted or prevented from speaking to the nursing staff ans or doctors . Today my partner has been transferred to ward 228 . The difference could not be more marked . On gaining the contact number from the front desk I rang the unit a number of times when the phone was answered I was told to ring another number which proved to be a private company . On recontacting the help desk it was apparent that i had been given the wrong number . On ringing the new number the phone was not answered . When finally it was answered the receiver was lifted and then replaced . I have phoned both numbers given and after some hours I have yet to get anyone to respond . As my partner is in a critical state at this point I cannot get information as to her condition , I cannot know what the visiting regime is on this ward , I do not know what items will be required to support the medical team . The difference is marked and very disappointing having had long term experience of the frustration of gaining info about loved ones in the care of the Royal Stoke .
