  1. Review titled Phone lines are a joke.

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 August 2024

I had an appointment at 8:30 that I wasn't able to attend, but upon calling the appointment line at 8 o'clock on the dot (as instructed by an operator at 7) I then was waiting for 30 minutes just to cancel my appointment. Had to call the operator in the end, the department I was with was lovely though. If the practice is not able to answer calls to cancel appointments, they should at the very least give the option to cancel on-the-day appointments on their website. I could not tell you the amount of times I've heard the " please remember, if you'd like to receive a text message reminder about your appointment-" automated message in the span of 30 minutes.

I visited a and e in an emergency and the service I received was first class. All the staff were lovely very kind, helpful and caring. A very different service to a couple of years ago, they seemed to have a lot more staff now. Thankyou

  3. Review titled Suburb medical care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jessica Clayton - Posted on 31 March 2024

An unexpected stay while on holiday where I needed urgent medical care which led to emergency surgery. The A&E service is brilliant, efficient, caring, personable with good communication from staff. The pace, speed and quality of medical teams was the best I’ve experienced and consistent across all levels of responsibility. Following admission to Maple ward the level of care and standards followed into the ward teams. I admired the level be pace teams have to work with competing deadlines, unexpected priorities, exciting good level of initiative all while remaining consistency in the level of care and retained warm, compassionate and maintained a smile on their face. I left feeling very proud to have received the very best service and urgent medical care and very grateful to each member of the teams that supported me into good health.

  4. Review titled A huge thank you

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Peter - Posted on 09 March 2024

Rushed into the Resus Unit with heavy bleeding 10 days after a haemorrhoidectomy. I was very grateful for the calm professional manner of everyone who got me stabilised. A shout out to the ambulance crew who pulled out all the stops to get me there quickly. I would also like to thank all the staff on Maple Ward for their cheerful friendly care and attention to detail. They monitored my gradual recovery. Plus of course the doctors and surgeon overseeing this. You are all stars. A mention too about catering. Hospital food generally does not seem too well thought of but at Scarborough the famous chef recipes really impressed all the patients I got to know. Once again, a huge thank you.

  5. Review titled Long wait

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Laney - Posted on 01 April 2024

My GP sent me to A&E on the 28 March with suspected gallstones. On arrival I gave the receptionist my letter and was soon having blood taken. After that I waited 15 hours before my name was called. I was taken down to A&E and examined etc and was given my treatment which was fine. All in all I was in the dept for nearly 17 hours. Patients were been seen hours before me and I was still there. I don’t blame the staff it’s the health authority that can’t cope.

  7. Review titled Initial diagnoses at Surgical Assessment Unit wrong

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 March 2024

As the AI will not allow negative comments, what is the point of asking for reviews? Reviews are meant to be honest and about the hospital service offered. I received poor service initially but this was corrected the next day by a Senior Registrar. Next all of the assessments will be carried out by AI asking you to tick boxes.

Lack luster of information to the point they cancelled my surgery 5 hours after waiting. Not only had I been examined, I had the gown on and the lot... embarrassing

  9. Review titled Compassion, care, patience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Troy Alexander S Peters - Posted on 06 February 2024

I was recently hospitalised due to a persistent and ongoing stomach issue and the care I received within those hours was nothing short of first rate. Although I was slightly upset with my wait due to being in pain this was quickly addressed and was no fault of the wonderful staff helping me but down to a lack of resources from chronic underfunding. Every single member of staff treated with me with respect and compassion in what was a very hard and uncomfortable time for me, including constantly checking up on me and even cracking jokes and making me smile. Every single member of staff at your hospital is nothing short of incredible.

  10. Review titled Double edged sword.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 01 March 2024

I was treated with care and dignity at all times and everything was explained twice. Unfortunately I could not tolerate the procedure, even though I have had this done before as it was so awfully painful even with gas & air, it had to be stopped after just a few minutes but the staff were incredibly kind, compassionate, and understanding of my needs, and the Dr performing the procedure was brilliant and understood why I had to stop. However, I was rather worried to see someone had written on my red wristband and on the notes that I was allergic to Nsaids, but was ok to have Opiates, and its the other way round. Quite an important mistake to make which could have meant a very different outcome. Also on my paperwork someone had written my pain score reply as 2 out of 4, and mild, it was in fact a 4 out of 4, and absolute agony
