  1. Review titled Movers and Shakers

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Gerald - Posted on 11 August 2024

I attended A and E Thursday 8th August at around 6am. I had had a piece of steak stuck in my throat for 2 days. Due to this, I had been unable to eat or drink anything. I arrived feeling thirsty, hungry and confused and anxious. It took me a while to get seen by a doctor, but then things started to happen. I was given a drip to relax my muscles then a drip to rehydrate me. Following this I felt that the blockage was still there and one lovely doctor and her team arranged for me to have an upper endoscopy there and then. I was amazed that they could fit me in so quickly. However, it was against the clock as I had now gone two days without water. The endoscopy team were equally efficient and quickly after the procedure, declared the blockage had gone. The lovely doctor told me later that they had found some damage caused by my wrenching whilst trying to remove the steak by making myself sick the day before. Thank you very much to all concerned.

  4. Review titled Absaloutly shocking

Rated 1 star out of 5

My dad was sent to scarborough a and e with rectal bleeding after a colonoscopy and left after 9 hours without being seen by a doctor . My dad has had to come back to a and e today with tracking up his arm from a bite that he was told needed immediate intravenous antibiotics by minor injuries and is still waiting to be seen 6 hours later , whilst still under the care of oncology . It’s a joke it needs sorting and he needs help. Over all it’s ridiculous and needs sorting because it’s not the first time and definitely won’t be the last so just sort it .

  5. Review titled Fantastic Hospital & A&E Staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 June 2024

I just want to say a huge heartfelt thank you to the staff in A&E at Scarborough Hospital. In particular my nominated nurse who went well beyond the call of duty to look after me and make me comfortable after my accident. I've worked in Social Care all my life and to see a team working with such professionalism, care, expertise and empathy was just wonderful. This was a true example of how things should be done. I hope your all appreciate for your hard work and dedication and want to thank you all for taking such good care of me.

  6. Review titled Phone lines are a joke.

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 August 2024

I had an appointment at 8:30 that I wasn't able to attend, but upon calling the appointment line at 8 o'clock on the dot (as instructed by an operator at 7) I then was waiting for 30 minutes just to cancel my appointment. Had to call the operator in the end, the department I was with was lovely though. If the practice is not able to answer calls to cancel appointments, they should at the very least give the option to cancel on-the-day appointments on their website. I could not tell you the amount of times I've heard the " please remember, if you'd like to receive a text message reminder about your appointment-" automated message in the span of 30 minutes.

  8. Review titled Suburb medical care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jessica Clayton - Posted on 31 March 2024

An unexpected stay while on holiday where I needed urgent medical care which led to emergency surgery. The A&E service is brilliant, efficient, caring, personable with good communication from staff. The pace, speed and quality of medical teams was the best I’ve experienced and consistent across all levels of responsibility. Following admission to Maple ward the level of care and standards followed into the ward teams. I admired the level be pace teams have to work with competing deadlines, unexpected priorities, exciting good level of initiative all while remaining consistency in the level of care and retained warm, compassionate and maintained a smile on their face. I left feeling very proud to have received the very best service and urgent medical care and very grateful to each member of the teams that supported me into good health.

  9. Review titled A huge thank you

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Peter - Posted on 09 March 2024

Rushed into the Resus Unit with heavy bleeding 10 days after a haemorrhoidectomy. I was very grateful for the calm professional manner of everyone who got me stabilised. A shout out to the ambulance crew who pulled out all the stops to get me there quickly. I would also like to thank all the staff on Maple Ward for their cheerful friendly care and attention to detail. They monitored my gradual recovery. Plus of course the doctors and surgeon overseeing this. You are all stars. A mention too about catering. Hospital food generally does not seem too well thought of but at Scarborough the famous chef recipes really impressed all the patients I got to know. Once again, a huge thank you.

  10. Review titled Long wait

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Laney - Posted on 01 April 2024

My GP sent me to A&E on the 28 March with suspected gallstones. On arrival I gave the receptionist my letter and was soon having blood taken. After that I waited 15 hours before my name was called. I was taken down to A&E and examined etc and was given my treatment which was fine. All in all I was in the dept for nearly 17 hours. Patients were been seen hours before me and I was still there. I don’t blame the staff it’s the health authority that can’t cope.
