  1. Review titled Wonderfully kind service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Peter Savidge - Posted on 09 September 2024

I had to visit the Minor Injuries Dept three times during my holiday near Kingsbridge to have a deep leg wound dressed. Holidaymakers must hugely increase the workload of this department yet I was received with so much warmth and expert care in this busy season. Immensely grateful for your help and kindness.

Called up about my 1 year old cutting her finger. They answered and rudely shut me down and said don’t deal with infants. I asked for any help or who to call too talk to someone and the women hung up on me

  3. Review titled Fast and friendly service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Andrew Pearson - Posted on 02 August 2023

I took my daughter to the minor injuries unit on the morning of 1st August. We seemed to be the first patients there and were seen almost straight away. The staff were very friendly and diagnosed the problem with her eye straight away. My 10-year old daughter was put at ease by their manner and left very relieved shortly after. Thank you very much.

  6. Review titled masking

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 June 2023

I attended Kingsbridge Hospital today for a Covid booster clinic. Despite the fact that - obviously - this was a clinic specifically for patients who are elderly or immunosuppressed, I was the only person there wearing a mask. The chairs were all placed close together, and I had to ask two nurses to step back further from me as they were, literally, breathing right in my face. (The volunteers, in contrast, saw my mask and kept a respectful distance). Please train your nurses to at least keep a safe distance from vulnerable patients.

I am so sorry to hear of your concerns when you attended for a Covid booster. Unfortunately, this service does not fall within the remit of University Hospitals Plymouth. having checked this, I understand that the Trust responsible is The Royal Devon University Hospitals. Their Patient Advice & Liaison Service can be contacted on rduh.pals-eastern@nhs.net should you wish to raise this with them directly. I have also forwarded on your comments to them too. I hope this helps. Kind regards Alison Stanton Patient Services

Visited the South Hams MIU whilst on holiday in the South Hams as needed to have some stitches removed following a minor op procedure that had been carried out the week before at a different surgery. Staff were very pleasant and helpful and I was seen shortly after arriving there. Stitches removed quickly and easily. Superb service from the staff there, thank you.

  10. Review titled Amazing staff and facility

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Grateful daughter - Posted on 17 January 2023

My Dad has recent had a stay in Beech Ward after a fall resulting in a broken hip, he was transferred for rehabilitation following a hip operation at Derriford. Without exception the staff were patient, kind and caring, always giving us time to explain how Dad was doing , and being encouraging and nurturing to him, speeding his recovery. As he said himself, if you have to be in hospital, this is definitely as good as it could be. Thank you all, we really appreciate how much you care

I am so pleased to hear about your positive experience. I think you may be referring to a ward at Torbay Hospital though (this comment came through to us at Derriford Hospital). I imagine that Torbay will comment shortly. I hope your father is improving and that he is recovering well following his operation. Kind regards Alison Stanton Patient Services
