by J Turvey - Posted on 05 November 2024
Underwent a MyoSure procedure today. I was nervous but the team of 3 were absolutely excellent in helping me through it. The doctor gave me absolute confidence in him & the nurses were informative & caring. I really couldn’t have been in better hands. Thank you.

Review titled Fantastic care throughout my pregnancy journey
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Georgia - Posted on 13 October 2024
I want to thank all the staff involved in my care throughout my pregnancy, delivery and postnatal period. Every midwife, nurse, doctor and HCA met myself and my partner with a kind smile and calm and caring nature. When attending triage all staff were efficient and put my mind at ease instantly. A very quick decision was made for me to have a c section and again each member of staff was calm and considerate, introducing themselves to me and making sure I understood each step. Following the birth myself and my daughter were in the postnatal ward for a few days. The care we received was exceptional from breastfeeding support to ensuring we were fit and healthy ready to go home. I can't thank the staff enough for their care throughout this time.

Review titled Frightening
by Alison - Posted on 09 October 2024
My son had a bad fall and was admitted by ambulance in extreme pain to A&E. Staff were not kind but I’d excuse this if the care was adequate. After 4 X-rays and 20 tortuous hours he was discharged with two cocodomol and told he’d get an appt for the fracture clinic .We practically had to carry him out .My daughter in law asked if his care could be transferred to our local hospital and was curtly told NO. After a few days we’d heard nothing so I paid privately for a second opinion. His elbow is almost shattered and will need an urgent operation .His care has been transferred to our local hospital and has already had urgent CT scan in preparation for the operation . Yesterday (ten days) days after his admittance to Southend a&e he got a phone call asking if he’d like a virtual follow up in a weeks time .Not sure how you examine someone over the phone for a broken arm. None of us knew whether to laugh or cry at this point .This is a very potted version of the full story but I’d love to know if the chief executive would accept this for their own family .Just appalling.

Review titled A&E service
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Brian king - Posted on 18 September 2024
I was unfortunate to have to visit A&E very late on the 17/09/2024for ongoing severe back pain for which i am undergoing tests etc, Upon arrival i was see quickly by the pre triage assistant, i was treated empathetically and with respect, once it was established the level of pain i was in, i was given strong pain relief within 15 minutes which was all i was really asking for. I do hope you can identify the gentleman who saw me around midnight at pre triage and pass on my sincere thanks for his understanding and professionalism.

Review titled GP and A&E Services
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Steve - Posted on 23 September 2024
11:30 am with Heart issues. Quick service in A&E until we were sent to the GP clinic. Not sure why. It would appear the letter we received was not taken into account. Over 5 hours later and the two doctors had disappeared for their breaks I assume. A full clinic still waiting. Why on earth are two receptionists required when everyone has such a long wait. Long intervals between patients being seen. The system is broke broke. And wasting money on staff seemingly with not a lot to do based on the level of services provided. It’s my perception that they just want to move you on to other departments and be rid of their numbers of patients in order to meet KPI’s. Really disappointed with the level of service received today.

Review titled Slow and bad
Rated 5 stars out of 5

All most everything about this hospital is bad the A and E is slow and lethargic we had to wait 20 hours just to get a bed and when we eventually did the ward was even slower getting 2 paracetamol takes an age the red tape involved in the running is ridiculous, to think I've paid my national insurance for 45 years for this

Review titled Excellent service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Roy Thomas Smith - Posted on 06 September 2024
Today I attended Southend A&E with a cut eye and head injury due to tripping up. I would like to commend the department for their efficient service. I was booked in within minutes and seen by a doctor very promptly even though the waiting room was quite full. I was treated, my wound dressed and had a CT scan (which was clear) all within less than 2 hours. I commend the A&E department and staff for their dligent efficient attention. Thank you

Review titled Chest & Heart day case clinic
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mustafa Gunerdem - Posted on 13 September 2024
Absolutely superb treatment. Big shout out to the nurses for a seamless and thorough explanation of my treatment and was with me the whole way. The head nurse and his team were superb and once the Heart consultant who was brilliant - had sent me straight from outpatients to them, they rearranged everything for me. Smiley, happy people who obviously love their jobs! Can’t recommend them highly enough. It made a worrying time a very pleasant experience!

Review titled Caring and experienced
by Georgina copeman - Posted on 15 August 2024
Ti want to thank all the staff who dealt with my daughter on Tuesday 13 august 24! The fear of losing your sight after being hit by a shuttlecock is terrifying for anyone but at 22 with your life ahead of you is somewhat daunting! Even tho there were problems with check in , they recognised the severity of the situation and we were seen almost immediately by a dr Mohammed he was so lovely and kind and professional . He made us feel much more comfortable and relaxed even tho we could tell he was extremely concerned at the damage and it must be frustrating for him not to be able to give us a more positive outlook with only so much knowledge and at that point not having had a ct scan! A very caring approach here! He stayed over his shift hours to wait for the on call specialist to arrive! Who came into work out of hours!! I don’t know her name but she was outstanding. Experienced, professional and with such a caring and sympathetic manner! If she was tired after being dragged into work at 10 pm you would not know! Thankyou so much to this lady! She made it very clear what was going to happen next and gave us some hope that the bleeding in the eye would prevent sight anyway and further tests would check for any more severe damage requiring potential surgery. We had to go to a different room to wait for a scan and I think drops. Here we were greeted with another very friendly lady who again was kind making us comfortable as well as finding chairs for other patients and just generally being very attentive! A nice man brought us a cup of tea while we were there which wax much appreciated at almost 1am in the morning. Just like any a and e - the police were there looking after abusive individuals handcuffed and swearing! Generally causing more problems and putting an added strain on the nhs!!! I honestly don’t know how they do it! How you can compare these people’s jobs on minimum wage with other minimum wage paid jobs I don’t know! The extra hrs that are thrown at them, the constant unnecessary moaning by people having to wait for what looks like fairly minor symptoms!!! In conclusion my experience at Southend hospital was excellent and I wanted to let them know that there our plenty of people out there that appreciate there hard work and commitment!!! Thankyou to everyone on shift on the 13 august 2024!
