  1. Review titled Minor Injuries Clinic - Fantastic Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Nick - Posted on 14 February 2023

Whilst on holiday in the area my father had a cardiac issue and I took him to the minor injuries clinic to be assessed. As soon as we had explained the position to the receptionist my father was whisked in to the assessment area. He was connected to an ECG and given a thorough examination. My mother was allowed to remain with him at all times. All the staff were so polite, efficient and caring. The nurse/medic who was involved with my fathers care came out regularly to update me on progress and my fathers condition. In the end my father had to be transferred to Truro hospital and the nurse/medic wrote out the address and drew a map of Truro hospital to show where to park and where the A&E entrance was. I am so grateful for all their care and considreation. Nick

  2. Review titled Professional, empathetic and efficient service.

by Happy green eyes - Posted on 23 January 2023

Attended St Austell MIU for an injury to my eye Received excellent diagnosis and primary care. A follow up appointment was arranged at the main hospital eye unit at Truro, where I received excellent care from Louisa and the team. I was in and out in 15 minutes. The object painlessly removed from my eye. Professional, empathetic and efficient service.

Fantastic and swift care today from all the staff. Every single member of staff did a brilliant job of keeping her pain free and helping to get it sorted. We were really impressed with how quickly we were seen and the treatment she received. Thank you for everything you guys do and for service with a smile. Thank you

I found the triage nurse extremely rude, obviously didn’t want to be there and was completely uncaring towards my daughter.

  6. Review titled Incredible staff and care.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Lucy A - Posted on 23 August 2022

On what should have been our first day of holiday, I started having tingling and pain in my arm. Long story short, my doctor at home advised an Electrocardiogram just to rule out heart issues. I was actually almost distraught when I called St Austell Community Hospital as we had been fobbed off by around eight Doctors/call-in centres, who didn't actually listen to the details of the scenario and kept referring me to Accident and Emergency (against the specific instructions of the GP). One particular member of staff at St Austell was like a shining light on an otherwise dismal day, with the help, compassion and sincerity they offered, even offering to help personally with our young children. I simply cannot thank them, and the rest of the staff enough. When people say about angels in the NHS, this is exactly who they mean. Thank you again.

  7. Review titled Arrogant receptionist

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Luke - Posted on 29 August 2022

Brought my girlfriend into get checked out as was currently in a seizure for 2 hours. Went to reception as hoping I could get pointed either in the right way to speak to someone or get some help from the reception team however she was very abrupt and rude, she said to me that I needed to call 111 even tho I had been told not to phone 111 as they couldn't do anything with seizures so I explained this to her in a appropriate manner and she rudely responded to me and told me to go to A&E even though I didn't know where to go as not been in the hospital before so didn't know where it was. Would of rung for an ambulance however she was already In the car and was also in the area so went staright to there for help and received nothing just greif and stress. I ended up driving away and luckily my girlfriend came out of 10 minutes later however was going to either go to another hospital or call for an ambulance in a safe place.

We are very sorry to hear that the response you received at St Austell Community hospital was unsatisfactory, especially with the nature of the situation you were in. This is not what we would expect from any members of staff and the service we give to patients. This feedback will be sent to the Matron and Team lead to take action, learn from it and supply a further response. Again, we are sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations.
