  1. Review titled Long wait times and stressed staff

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 November 2023

I have had to use this pharmacy a few times and have always found it a stressful experience due to the long wait times even when prescriptions have been sent days in advance. It is clear the staff are all working really hard however there is often a lot of angry and stressed patients due to the long wait. As a result, it feels as though staff sometimes avoid making eye contact with people waiting at the collection counter in order to avoid dealing with any complaints that are likely coming their way. On this particular visit, an hour after requesting my prescription (the suggested wait time was 40 minutes) I was waiting at the counter as my prescription was ready on the screen however multiple members of staff avoided talking to me, with some just avoiding eye contact altogether. This went on for at least 15 minutes. My 4 month baby had started to cry loudly and it was clear that it was a stressful situation that I was having such a long wait but I still got no help. Eventually I had to call through and ask for someone to help me with my prescription which was sat on the other side ready the entire time and only took seconds to give to me. Overall it was a very stressful experience and one of many long waits I’ve had at the pharmacy. I have seen many other unhappy patients complaining during my wait times and do not blame the staff for their avoidance. Whilst I’m sure the pharmacy is very overrun, there must be a better way to improve the experience of patients, particularly as many are most likely there as they are unwell or vulnerable or in a stressful situation with sick family members. I will do my very best to avoid this pharmacy in future and have my cardiologist write to my GP instead.

  2. Review titled Efficient and courteous service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

The nuclear imaging department conducted a full body scan with radioactive isotope for me last week. The appointment was on time, staff were professional, polite and supportive. The nurse who did the injection was so good, I didn't feel it. The radiology report was sent to me very promptly. Everyone in the department was an exemplar of how NHS/Hospital services should be provided. Thank you.

Not organised make too many mistakes regarding hospital transport and making new and cancelling my appointments without any explanation. Negative experiences regarding service provider!

  4. Review titled Brilliant Staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I went here in an early morning ambulance ride, I was upset, distraught and scared. I cannot speak more highly of the staff, they were courteous, patient and experts in their field. As an immigrant to this country I am endlessly greatful to be able to rely on these folks in my time of need. Thank you to each and every member of staff from Doctors, Nurses, Receptionists and Custodians for making this hospital a positive experience in my time of need.

  5. Review titled Terrible - unacceptable delay and hiding behind software...

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Heike - Posted on 14 November 2023

I had a DEXA scan which is a routine procedure to establish if the bone density in your body has reduced and some form of osteoporosis may be present. The duration of the scan was about 7min as only two parts of the body get scanned. Now, 5 weeks later the results are still not available to my GP or to me. When I phoned in today to enquire about them, I was told that "a software issue" prevented staff from doing the reports and that this issue has lasted over more than a couple of weeks. I think it's completely unacceptable that there aren't proper time tables within a 1-2 week turn around to look at scans and prepare the short report. Initially, I was told "the report" takes 3-4 weeks which is already extremely long for a standard check. But now nothing has even been looked at 5 weeks later. Total schambles and whoever heads this department is not doing their job. I should perhaps mention that when I arrived for the scan there was nobody there, empty waiting room - I still had to wait 25min as I was early. It's a riddle to me how the organisation is set up and clearly it doesn't work efficiently or in favour of patients and tax payers.

  6. Review titled I did not feel any pain at all

by Jaroszlav - Posted on 29 September 2023

A month ago I had an operation to remove a bilateral inguinal hernia at St. George's Hospital. Many thanks to the surgeons for the excellent operation, during the rehabilitation process I did not feel any pain at all, which means everything was done perfectly, I hope that everything inside is also at the same level! I would like to thank the staff for their attention, care, excellent and very humane attitude before the operation, and especially after the operation! Everyone was very kind to me, and they took excellent care of me all night after the operation! Thank you all so much, you are the best!!!

  7. Review titled Great practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I attended the Gynaecology clinic in June 2023. The communication from all the staff I met in the outpatient dept and the clinic was excellent. Everybody introduced themselves. The nurse consultant that I saw in the clinical was fantastic. She explained everything and checked that I understood everything in a non patronising way. All the clinical staff introduced themselves which was very welcoming.

  8. Review titled Outstanding stay

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had a left side pleurodesis on 15 May which was successful. The operation was delayed because of an emergency, but this did not pose a problem. Despite the circumstances, I enjoyed my stay. The food was very good; consultants and staff very friendly and reassuring and there was a wonderful, relaxing atmosphere. I would highly recommend St George's. I have stayed in other hospitals, but St George's is the most outstanding.

  9. Review titled Fabulous care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was seen very quickly in A&E and went straight into resus where I was looked after and treated straight away. I was then taken to intensive care where I was continued to be looked after and treated for sepsis. The staff were all amazing and I want to say a big thank you for saving my life!

  10. Review titled An exceptional, comforting and smooth process.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Lauren S - Posted on 05 April 2023

I checked myself into St George’s from experiencing intense pain for an issue I’m waiting to have operated on. They were nothing but helpful from the start, I was on my own and very scared and every nurse or doctor I had an interaction with was caring and genuine. They got me to the department I needed within a couple of hours and I can’t thank them enough.
