Review titled Caring staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Lisa - Posted on 13 January 2025
I have needed investigations at the clinic due to problems with the procedure at GP, which has left me very anxious about them. The two times that I have been seen in this clinic both the consultant and supporting nurse (different on both occasions) have been extremely kind and caring, taking time to listen to my concerns and make sure that I am comfortable. They have also performed the procedure in such a way that it did not trigger any adverse effects. Given the negative experiences I have had previously, I am really grateful for this and it has made me less anxious about needing investigations or treatment in the future. If anyone reading this is nervous about their appointment then I would tell them that they are in good hands. Thank you to staff at St James gynae clinic for being so professional and understanding

I was taken into hospital 12.11.24 with a ruptured appendix which required surgery to remove. I would like to pass on my thanks to the fantastic staff in A+E, Surgical Assessment Unit, Ward 46 (Lincoln Wing), Remote Ward and Ambulatory Care. Thank you for taking care of me during my 9 day stay in hospital and my two weeks as an outpatient.

Review titled Not as compassionate as one would think
Rated 3 stars out of 5

Day in day out, these consultations see patients with potential breast cancer. The stance and attitude of some is lacking in empathy and compassion which is unacceptable during such a worrying time. Even one of the cleaners were extremely rude with a stern face and lacking in any kindness. The radiographers were pleasant at least

Review titled Ward J8 Not fit for purpose
Rated 1 star out of 5

I was admitted to hospital on Saturday 19 October 2024 although a bed was not found for me till after midnight. I was suffering from cellulitis which had spread from a leg infection and I required intravenous antibiotics. At first I was placed in a pleasant Admissions ward but after two nights I was moved to J8, an “Elderly Medicine” ward, which felt as if it was understaffed for much of the time with often just one member of staff doing their best to cope. Most of the patients appeared to be suffering from dementia: three persisted in exposing themselves and one kept moving about the ward in a threatening manner. If there were two members of staff on duty they were able to keep him in or close to his bed, but when there was only one the situation was unmanageable. I want to make it very clear that the ward staff were doing all that they possibly could. I am very grateful to them. It was obvious, however, that the ward was little more than a dumping ground for geriatric patients. My experience was distressing and depressing. The underlying assumption appeared to be that elderly patients should be treated as if they were all senile. It’s worth noting that the usual bedside tv console was not fitted in this ward. It’s a small point, but I think a revealing one.

Doctors couldn't wait to get my wife off ward 84.. information as to my wife's condition was a waste of time...and on discharge. We were sat nearly 6 hours for someone to get their finger out...terrible

There are so many exemplary words I could use to describe the Rheumatology Team that are looking after my care, they have showed concerns, provided tremendous aftercare, being informative throughout. One word I will use is meritorious. Thank you, you are all doing a great job.
