  2. Review titled Great service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Claire R - Posted on 07 March 2024

Today I visited the breast screening ward to investigate a lump. I was so impressed with the professionalism, efficiency and smooth running of the clinic. And the warm friendly approach of all the staff I met. Who were clearly very busy with a packed waiting room. Under the pressure, restraints and volume of patients they see, I was very impressed. What a credit to the NHS this team is!

  3. Review titled Appointment cancellation

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 09 February 2024

I was referred to dermatology department with suspected skin cancer, which turned to be something else and quickly disappeared. I promptly rang hospital and explained, that my appointment was no more needed, but days later received reminder about the upcoming appointment. Rang again to clarify it. A lady told me, that she cancelled it for me, but later they sent a letter to my GP:" patient did not attend (...), discharged back to the GP". So it sounds like I wasted your time, because you don't mention anywhere, that I actually cancelled it.

ward f6 is absolutely shocking. the care they have given my grandma is ridiculous! hardly any nurses on the ward. no actual rehabilitation involved hated leaving my grandma in their care. would definitely not recommend. weekdays are bad enough but weekend care is a joke!

Hi my name is Catherine and part of my role is responding to posts on Care Opinion. Apologies for the delay in responding to your post. I am very sorry to hear that you felt your Grandma's care was not up to scratch, and that you felt that there were hardly any nurses on the ward. Staffing is very challenging across the NHS and this is impacting nursing and therapy staff. Therapists do not currently work on weekends, however there are rehabilitation support workers who do and the nursing staff also follow the individual patient care plan, including encouraging mobility etc. So that we can better respond to your concerns please speak to the Sister on the ward as she is very disappointed to hear your comments and would like to look into this and respond to it personally. Alternatively I would encourage you to contact our Patient Experience Service (PALS) on 01274 364810 or by emailing patient.experience@bthft.nhs.uk. We, as a Trust, value all feedback, positive or negative, as a way to drive improvements to our services. Thank you again for raising your concerns. 5. Review titled rehabilitation ward StLukes

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 26 February 2024

My dad was on rehabilitation ward for 7 weeks, after a fall at home, injuring his hip. He had mild dementia, practically blind and deaf. His care was terrible. Despite telling staff he needed help with eating and drinking, he never seemed to get this, despite being asked for many times. He became incontinent as he lost his mobility whilst in there. Several pressure sores and infections later he was discharged home to care of my mum who has bad mobility. To cut a long story short, readmittance....discharge to care home where he passed away, frail with lack of nourishment and totally incontinent.

  6. Review titled Compassionate and efficient

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was referred on a 2 week urgent appointment after finding a lump in my breast. The team could not have been more efficient or compassionate. Everyone was so respectful and kind at what was a worrying time. I had a consultation, mammogram, ultrasound, minor surgical procedure and then another consultation in their one stop clinic, and was in and out within an hour and a half, with very minimal waiting times. Thank you so much to everyone in the department for being so wonderful.

I am very sorry to hear about your experience following your coronectomy 2 weeks ago. 10. Review titled Professional, kindly pre-op checks

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Zilla - Posted on 04 May 2023

My husband attended St Luke's for pre-op checks; the 2 nurses he saw were kindly and thorough; when we arrived we could not find where we needed to be, but one of the hospital employees went out of their way to locate the relevant waiting area. Everything convinced us that my husband was in good hands; this was very reassuring at a somewhat anxious time. Grateful thanks to all concerned.
