  1. Review titled Thank You To all at Fern Ward

by Karen - Posted on 25 April 2024

Our daughter was admitted to Fern Ward in March and this was our only experience of mental health other than reading about issues in the mefia. The team at Fern Ward have given our daughter the care, kindness, patience and space to aid her recovery. She was treated with respect, expertise and her daily activities allowed her to recover at her pace. We also saw the kindness of other patients shown to each other, so many unwell patients, but all had common ground and understanding of each other. I know, that without the dedicated care received by the entire Fern Ward team our lives could be totally different. We are truly grateful to everyone who helped our daughter. I personally have learnt how much dedication the team put into the recovery programmes for the patients and we as a family are indebted to their commitment to people with mental health challenges where others would not step into this caring profession. A huge heart felt thank you for bringing our daughter back to us, we still have a long journey to go in recovery but Fern Ward team have given her the tools to reach this goal. Thank you very much …

Thank you so much for such a lovely comment. Our teams work incredibly hard to give the very best care they can to our patients and their loved ones. We have passed on your message to the Fern Ward team who, we are sure, are thrilled that they are making such a difference and supporting people, just like your daughter and you, in their recovery. Thank you for taking the time to express the difference our staff on Fern Ward have made, it is truly appreciated.

  2. Review titled Helpful and creative service

Rated 4 stars out of 5

During my stay as an informal patient, I was in the process of changing medication and needed the time to recover from flair ups. In the few weeks that I was there, I was impressed by the constant support from the nursing staff and the occupational therapist team. In particular, I was pleased with the different arts and crafts to get involved with, the spacious facilities e.g. beautiful outdoor space for nature walks, toasted jam and toast for supper time, regular blood pressure checks and cleanliness. I am also thankful for the daily support and advice that the nursing staff shared regarding medication, side effects and the helpful exercise advice from the physiotherapist team. Canterbury high-street is only 10-mins away from the hospital, so as an informal patient you have the right to visit local places independently. The town has a great library and a variety of top restaurants to choose from, along with great high-street fashion brands. I wish all the staff at St Martin's Hospital a big thank you and all the best with their duty of care to patients on their road to recovery. Thank you and take care :-)

I was very apprehensive about this appointment. The staff were amazing, they showed great care and empathy. Although this was a long appointment, I was not kept waiting and the whole experience was fantastic. May I please say thank you to all concerned.
