Review titled Wonder-full Day Surgery Care!
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Sheralyn - Posted on 27 July 2024
Thank you to the Day Surgery Care staff at St Mary's Hospital especially the Nurse who looked after me before and after the op...what a blessing! (Friday, July 26th, 0730 to 17.30) 🙏 I feel honored to have spent the day with you all...observing (and experiencing) your professionalism and kindness...wow! Also thanks to the surgeon operating team and Operating nurse who offered to hold my hand until I "went out" (thanks to the anaesthetist I did not feel a thing! 🤣). What a wonder-full experience! Thank you all so much for your efforts on my behalf! 🥰

Review titled Bad experience
by Anonymous - Posted on 24 July 2024
Having recently had an appointment with the anesthetist who listened and understood me, because he had read my notes, they were great and put my mind a rest. The nurse in the room was friendly and helpful. The next day I had an appointment with the surgeon who didn’t put my mind at rest what so ever and really scared me to a point that I don’t want the surgery. From the start to the end of the appointment he was telling me horror stories about what he has experienced in the past couple of weeks. He didn’t even explain the benefit of having the surgery. He came across uncaring and didn’t put me at ease what so ever. He didn’t even take the time to look through my notes before my appointment. Never trust a surgeon who hasn’t read your notes. Had he of read my notes he would have seen I have suffered from trauma or maybe he did read my notes and he wanted to add to the trauma. I guess that’s one way of getting waiting list time down, by scaring the hell out of people and making them feel uncomfortable. The hospital is there to help people not to frighten people. He has made my feelings of trauma ten times worse. It felt like he just wanted rid of me and that I was a problem even though I need the operation or things could get worse.

My husband was admitted to St Mary’s this week. We would like to thank everyone involved from the call-handler/paramedics for their fast action and reassurance to the A&E team/Colwell Ward for all their caring and kindness. We are so fortunate to have such a lovely hospital here. Once again many thanks to everyone.

I wanted to highlight the fantastic care I have received from the gynaecologists clinic. I have been helped through some very difficult diagnosis and have always received the best care. Everything is carefully explained and all questions answered without me being made to feel silly or stupid. Speedy and efficient appointments help to solve problems and reduce anxiety. To the kind and caring nurse who held my hand throughout, thank you. I really can not fault the level of care I have received during the last 12 months. Well done Isle of Wight!

i had an extremely bad experience in A&E when this medical issue first happened about a year ago, so i was extremely anxious about going for surgery. on top of this i'm autistic and have extreme anxiety issues so i was quite scared. all of the nurses on the day surgery ward were amazing and friendly. the two women who put me to sleep were lovely and made me feel very safe. overall, i was treated very well and everyone was nice to me. i hope all the nurses and doctors who treated me know how great they are.
