  1. Review titled Exceptional

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Julia Sharland - Posted on 25 February 2023

I would like to express my gratitude to all the staff at St.Michael’s Hospital, Hayle. From the minute I arrived to leaving, every member of staff I encountered was kind, friendly and incredibly accommodating. I was on St.Joseph’s Ward. The staff should be very proud of the gold star service they are providing. Thank you.

Absolutely fantastic care at the St Michaels Hand Clinic, Hayle, from appointment to treatment. Everything was thoroughly explained and considered, could not have asked for better care or treatment.

  4. Review titled A steroid injection into my hand

    by indusrf43 - Posted on 01 December 2022

I have been experiencing pain in my middle finger joint for a long time, but it had become so bad it was painful in everything I did. After an x-ray which showed it was bone on bone, I was referred to St Michael's. The lovely doctor I saw was so friendly and helpful. She was kind, gentle and tried to help in every way she could. She said she thought a steroid injection might help, but not guaranteed. In the meantime, she gave me advice on how to strap it to limit the pain. I received an appointment within 6 weeks. The injection itself was painful, but I was warned about that. It's been one week since the injection, and my finger has stopped hurting totally!! I am amazed and delighted. The doctor told me it might or might not work, she also said there were no guarantees on how long it would last, but for the time being I am pain free. The hospital and every person I met in the two visits I made were professional, caring, thoughtful, smiling and lovely. I cannot praise the NHS enough. Too many people complain, not enough give praise. I totally respect these people who work to help others - in fact one nurse was working on her day off.

  5. Review titled Care of the Elderly

by Scared Daughter - Posted on 17 October 2022

Father had a fall and fractured his hip. Whilst the staff were very personable when he was transferred it became apparent that the care was not particularly up to standard. He arrived at St Michael’s stinking, dehydrated, malnourished with a (I’m led to believe) common postoperative swallowing disorder. No one at Treliske recognised any of these issues. I am a big supporter of the NHS and their plights suffered but I’m almost scared that he has now been transferred back to have this swallowing problem seen to. I’m hoping that this was a one off issue.

Dear Scared Daughter, Thank you for taking the time to share your story with us. I was both shocked and saddened to learn of your father's experience where he has been left dehydrated, malnourished and unclean. This is not how we would expect any of our patients to be treated while receiving care at one of our hospitals. To ensure your fathers experience is properly investigated and if you would be like to, I encourage you to contact our Patient and Family Experience team (complaints) to raise your concerns formally. Their details are below, and I have already shared your feedback with them so you can quote your story if you choose to contact them. Tel: 01872 252793 Email: rcht.patientexperience@nhs.net In the meantime, I will share your story with the teams who would have overseen your fathers care, so they are able to reflect on his experience and put improvements in place where possible, so this does not happen again. Thank you again for taking the time to share your story with us. Best wishes, Jess

  7. Review titled Care within the daycare unit and theatre

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 August 2022

I visited today regarding key hole surgery on my wrist. I arrived at the hospital, followed the procedure on the letter and then arrived at reception. The receptionist was lovely and handed me over to the male and female nurse on the Day Care Unit. They both were upbeat, super friendly and very welcoming. The anaesthetists was really reassuring and kind and was super friendly too. All the theatre staff and the main surgeon was amazing, always checked up on me and made me feel comfortable throughout. Once back to the day care ward the nurses were amazing! Offered toast, biscuits and drinks. They were very reassuring and helped me understand my aftercare. Overall the staff went above and beyond and I couldn’t recommend another hospital like this.
