Each visit needed to last several hours & all the staff in this unit were extremely pleasant, friendly, helpful, caring, communitive & very professional.. We cannot thank them enough for everything they did & with a smile. Excellent. Best wishes to you all.

Review titled Rude nurse/doctor
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 02 February 2023
My mum has attended tameside hospital today with her partner as he was unwell... they both can't speak fully English so when they been called by the nurse My mum has called me and put me on loud speaker so I could translate and did the same when the doctor came to speak to them ... both times when I tried to explain the symptoms My stepdad was having I have been interrupted and both the nurse and the doctor have been talking over me whenever I tried to ask something or explain something. They wouldn't let me finish saying all the symptoms he had and over all talk or ask questions .. under pressure/stress or not its not an excuse to be rude to another person when they in need of help.

Review titled Such a positive A&E experience
by Bumblebea - Posted on 31 January 2023
My 9 year old son injured his foot skateboarding. We took him to Tameside hospital A&E, having taken his details they gave him a wheelchair and sent him straight up to paediatrics A&E. He was seen immediately and quickly given medication for the pain. His foot was assessed and he was sent for an x-ray. We waited only 25 mins for the x-ray and it was quickly ascertained that he had broken 2 bones in his foot. He was then given a supportive boot to wear and crutches along with advice on how to manage the pain and support his recovery. All in all we were in and out of the hospital within 1.5 hours which was fantastic. Such a positive experience, thank you to everyone involved.

In a and e by ambulance with breathing and chest difficulties, seen by triage within 2 hours then told to wait to see doctor. 10 hours later {i am 73} eventually called, was there for 14 hours. Why is Walk in, in the same dept as A and E, surely there should be seperate staff as and e is for accidents and serious emergencys,.

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience when you attended the Accident and Emergency Department at Tameside Hospital. I am sorry that your wait to be seen in the Department was longer than expected, and whilst every attempt is made to provide up to date waiting times, unfortunately there may be increases in waiting times due to people’s clinical needs and depending on how many people attend the Department. I hope you feel better and received the appropriate support and treatment when you were seen. I can confirm that though the Urgent Treatment Centre is located near the Accident and Emergency Department the two are separate and provide different services depending on a patient’s clinical needs. However, if you would like to discuss your experience further, please contact the PALS and Complaints Team on 0161 922 4466 or palsandcomplaints@tgh.nhs.uk and we can provide further assistance.

Review titled Waiting Times
by taylor95 - Posted on 16 December 2022
I came off birth control 2 years ago to start a family. Unfortunately, my body has not gone back to its normal state. I was diagnosed with PCOS where they referred me to the Gynae Department at Tameside Hospital. They originally advised that the wait would be 6 weeks. I have been waiting for 39 weeks at the moment. I ring to check and they just advise I just need to wait and this is all they can do. So frustrating, as I am struggling and want to start a family!

I am sorry to read about your experience relating to the waiting time for an appointment with the Gynaecology department at Tameside and Glossop ICFT. Unfortunately, we have experienced some increases in waiting times within our Gynaecology Department, which is also being experienced nationally. So that we can review your appointment details, please contact the PALS and Complaints Team on 0161 922 4466 or palsandcomplaints@tgh.nhs.uk and we can provide assistance to you in relation to this.

Review titled Unprofessional
Rated 2 stars out of 5

I came into A&e wanting the Walk In Centre after suffering extreme pain in my ovaries. Was told that it was required for me to stay in A&e; understandable. In triage I was quite anxious and stressed as I am not a fan of hospitals, and was basically ignored by the nurse taking my blood pressure. After an Akg and bloods, I was called by a doctor only to end up walking around the corridors for several minutes. He then says there is no rooms for me, and in the corridor in earshot of other patients and staff, he tells me he thinks I have Endometriosis. Obviously upset, I was then promptly told to go back into the waiting room and was left for hours again before being told I would be referred to a gynaecologist. Unprofessional, insensitive and would not return to this A&e department.

I was very sorry to read about your experience when you attended the Emergency Department at Tameside Hospital. Your feedback has been shared with the Department for learning so that they can understand your experience and the impact this had on you. Unfortunately, the Emergency Department has seen an increase in the number of patients attending and the acuity of their needs, and at times this has limited space in the Department. However, I am sorry that you felt you were not treated with more compassion at what must have been a difficult time, and though the experience you describe was not positive, I would like to thank you for sharing this. If you would like further assistance in relation to talking about your Emergency Department visit, then please contact our PALS and Complaints Team on 0161 922 4466 or palsandcomplaints@tgh.nhs.uk
