    Excellent care before and after my surgery. All staff including Surgeons, Dr’s , nurses, reception , porter etc are amazing and professional . Full explanations at every stage. Follow up phone calls. Ongoing care, Flexiability with appointments , support advice , food etc ……in every aspect you go above and beyond . Many Thanks

    I cannot thank the staff at Highfield hospital enough for their care and attention whilst I was a patient. Nothing was ever too much trouble for them and I felt very confident being able to ask them anything. The staff put me completely at ease, they were very friendly and the care I received was second to none.

    Waited three months for this appointment. Besides the feeling of a could not care less attitude and doctor arriving back from lunch late for my appointment it was a quick look at my eye then telling me I had dry eyes which I already knew. My issue was a redness and soreness in the corner of the eye and I asked what this was and what was causing it, could they look again, they did not look saying it was my dry eyes. Told me the ointments to get and off I went. Asked about a follow up, they said I would be contacted. No contact to date. Made an appointment with the optometrist to check my eyesight out and more so, to check out the soreness / redness in the corner of my eye as I felt I was not getting anywhere with nhs, plus the problem eye was getting worse. Straight away they could see the problem a spk. Basically a scar on the Cornea from a past injury that was slightly infected. Purchased Medication suggested and hopefully it will be cleared up within three months. If not come back in to see them again, but let them know the outcome. After a couple of days the eye was feeling less angry using the antibiotics. Time will now tell. Not that happy with you nhs. Possible doctors need their diagnosis track record looked at to see how successful they have been.

Whilst we do all we can to ensure that appointments run on time, this is not always possible as both the hospital and consultants' first priority is to ensure patients receive an appropriate consultation which, at times can take longer than expected.     I recently had a small cyst removed from my eye lid. The care, support and understanding were absolutely fantastic and I can’t thank the consultant and nursing team enough. You really are all wonerful Thank you xx

    This review relates to my aged mum who recently had a 2nd knee replacement operation there albeit as NHS patient. Our previous experiences as a family as both private and NHS patients at this facility have always been positive. This time less so. On every visit (early afternoon ) her window blinds hadn’t been opened and her door was pulled closed . All medical staff know de-conditioning starts in a matter of days so this was concerning, The main dinner options gave 5 or 6 options (which didn’t vary on a daily basis) but only 1 which wasn’t spicy. So basically if you don’t like spicy food you’re stuffed. Even the catering staff lamented this. The fiasco around mums transfer to intermediary care was frankly woeful. Given the frequency these transfers happen it should be seamless, But a big big no. Whilst grateful that intermediary care was available, to be told we had to transport mum ourselves , when she was clearly in so much pain was unbelievably concerning. More so given Highfield failed to comply with the care facility requirements in terms of her meds inspite of numerous phone calls between the two facilities; a fact related to me by a very frustrated manager. I appreciate Highfield is used as a quick turnover surgical facility and wouldn’t and couldn’t criticise the clinical care. However, the pastoral care needs attention - patients don’t choose where they are treated.

    I have just had knee replacement surgery at the Highfield, the standard of care and professionalism of all the staff was outstanding. Going in hospital is a traumatic experience and the attitude of the staff makes all the difference.
