    From the second we entered the maternity ward for the first part of our induction of labour on 2.8.24 to leaving on 7.8.24 our care has been second to none. Each midwife, student, health care professional, maternity specialist, doctor, anaesthetist and member of the kitchen team has blown us blown us away with not only their excellent level of care but also their professionalism, kindness, knowledge and bedside manner. As a nervous couple bringing their first baby into the world we simply could not have asked for anything better from a medical department. The midwives and people we have met have cared for and supported us in such a way that I truly believe our baby and myself could not have had a better start to our journey into parenthood. Just when we thought that a midwife couldn’t get any better there would be a shift change and a new member of the team would arrive and continue the same excellent level of care, answering every question and supporting in anyway they could. The service they provided felt as though they all had a desire to go above and beyond to ensure that we were looked after. Well beyond anything we could have hoped to expect. Particularly during my labour I felt so safe in the knowledge that I couldn’t possibly have a better team of people around me and whatever I had needed they would have been able to act on this quickly and safely. Every detail and check was done meticulously to ensure our safety and wellbeing from the moment we entered the building. The staff in this department are a credit to this hospital and our local area and I feel fortunate to have experienced this time under their care. Having being fortunate enough to have not needed to use hospital services throughout my life I was quite nervous about being a ‘patient’ for the first time but I didn’t need to be and I feel so fortunate to each member of the NHS who has played even a small part in my experience. Absolutely excellent. Thank you to the James Cook services.

    Visited endoscopy for a clinic, the reception team and pre-appointment interaction was really caring and positive. The doctor was amazing, from meeting him he seemed to care and wanted to source a solution to the issues I have been having. Most doctors seem to be going through the motions and to be honest you can sympathise. He talked me through his thought processes and this helped me understand what was to come. Bloods taken, samples sought, further tests booked and endoscopy follow up sorted the following week. When I went in for my colonoscopy the following week again from start to finish I was made comfortable. The team delivered first class care and what could have been an anxious process and I was streamline and efficient. Thank you to the endoscopy department keep up the amazing work.

    I didn’t want to waste the last 30 years of my life waiting to be seen. Therefore I booked my own funeral while waiting to check in. Then I limped back to the car on all fours.

    I experienced the worst service when I have been waiting along time for a appointment which was referred by my GP. I have a ongoing issue since last year which I was undertaking private treatment however, was told that I would be referred to James Cook as there is a specialised department. I waited patiently and even checked on NHS app and could see a referral made and awaiting appointment on June 17th. My appointment was then cancelled twice and I contacted and spoke to a receptionist who had told me that I would not need to contact the hospital as I will be booked a appointment. It has now been more than a month and I had contacted the rheumatology department on Monday 15th for the lady to just tell me that my appointment was a chosen book blah blah and has been cancelled by my provider. I then contacted my GP borough road and spoke to the secretary to ask them and literally went backwards and fourth and kept calling. The secretary told me that they have not cancelled anything and it is the hospital. I then contacted the hospital only for them to say its not them and I would need another referral however, there is no appointments available until next year January. This is a total disgrace I even tried to ring up to complain and could not get anywhere. The fact that staff think its fine to do a blame game between GP and hospitals is a pure joke. I would have expected someone to take responsibility and ownership however, i felt that no one really cared its kind of like " this is the issue and we can't do anything about it" l felt that no one wanted to help and the fact that I went from private back to NHS following advice from the consultant only to be told by the lady receptionist that there is no appointment is out of order. There are probably many people like myself who have had issues like this were appointments have been cancelled and then you get told the same stuff over again " were sorry we are in a crises" for god sake the whole covid had the world in crises and yet people still managed to overcome certain things and issues. I understand the reason why people are so frustrated with hospitals and its not getting any better at all. Please do not contact me or try to reply by saying contact us like people usually do to act as a victim when they receive a negative comment. I have had enough running around a circle and constantly contacting hospitals that don't even care and staff seem like they just want to get off the phone as quick as possible. I can't fault the doctors and I understand people try to do their best at times however, it would be nice to find a root cause or solution when things go wrong instead of blaming one another or trying to fob patients off. I hope whoever is reading this understands that if you don't keep chasing the hospital they won't bother to get in touch with you. Your welcome !!

    High-risk pregnancy due to several factors. Referred for an emergency scan per NHS guidelines, which stated it would occur within 72 hours. However, 86 hours and numerous phone calls later, I am still waiting to be booked in. It feels like they genuinely couldn't care less. If you can afford too, go private for the safety of yourself and your unborn child.

    Absolutely shocking avoid honestly they tried one treatment then discharged me. I told them I’ve got nerve pain and I would like to be referred to neurology. She said go back to your GP I said but you can refer me. It’s just pure laziness.

    From being accepted at A&E via a 111 recommend. I was diagnosed and taken through the system to a emergency appendectomy the same day. Amazing staff and an amazing surgeon who has done an excellent job. The Ward 7 staff were superb before, during and after my operation. Thank you to you all. As a trained first responder former military and now in the security sector I can only give the highest accolades to the James Cook medical doctors nurses and staff at this location. Your work is underestimated but appreciated beyond words from those that know. Thank you so much for this treatment that should have been done years ago, but due to covid restrictions was not and has caused underlying issues for several years now, Dr surgeon S brilliant job, your analysis and explanation was second to none. Anesthetist staff should be on stage, making me smile before I went under. Ward 7 love and respect. Albeit worrying circumstances with appendicitis this was an awesome experience. Thank you again. Bless you all.

    My experience was that the hospital social worker did not see my elderly relative as a frail old person with increasing additional needs and requirements upon discharge. He was just seen as a bed blocker who had to be moved on as quickly as possible without a clear plan put into place, click of a button on the keyboard and move on.

    Whereas on the one hand the Doctors, Nurses and HCAs’ were so kind, caring and empathetic towards my elderly parent, the transfer of care team / hospital social worker just saw him as a name that had shown up on her computer in box, a name that needed pushing on to the next department. He wasn’t a person with increasing care needs of which needed in depth discussion with him, his family and the care facility to help him move forwards to achieve a successful discharge and quality of life, he was just another task and not a person. I am disappointed in the hospital social worker.
