  2. Review titled Hip replacement/care

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Allison - Posted on 05 June 2024

Private self funded total hip replacement. The service and care given by the consultant and surgery performed was beyond excellent and I am very grateful. This consultant surgeon has given me my life back and for that, I cannot put into words how much it means to me.The pre-op process was thorough and efficient and I am also extremely grateful to the care received from the staff in pre-op. They are kind, professional and efficient. However I regret to say the post-op experience was not good. Staying in Ludlow Ward, my first 24 hours after surgery was horrific. The staff were slow to respond to the call bell and my pain was allowed to escalate to the point where it was out of control. The consultant's registrar was required to intervene to assist when he witnessed the poor state I was in. On the night of my surgery, when I asked for a bed pan, the nurse advised that if I couldn't lift myself onto it, I would have to get up. I tearfully explained I was in too much pain and felt to poorly to get up and due to my complex hip issues, I had no "good leg" to push up on - another nurse then intervened and suggested they roll me onto the bed pan - which thankfully they did. I was unable to sleep on that first night post-op due to pain and having reported this to the night staff I was told this was "normal" - it was very grim indeed. The food served throughout my stay, Monday to Thursday - was awful. I was hoping for better given that I was paying - but in most part it was inedible. The only decent recognisable food was breakfast. Ludlow Ward was disappointing overall to say the least.

  3. Review titled Professional and courteous

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I recently had an MRI scan at the hospital and found what I had expected to be a challenging experience nothing of the sort - it was brilliantly orchestrated from my arrival to departure. Really appreciated the excellent attitude and competence of all the staff involved.

  4. Review titled Outstanding treatment and care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Neil Robinson - Posted on 18 April 2023

Attended 14 April for a second knee replacement, having had a number of procedures at Rjah previously. The level of care on this occasion was every bit the high standard I have experienced on previous visits. From admission, through to anaesthetic team, surgical team , recovery and ward team & physios , everyone went over and above to make this a very positive experience. Every member of staff went about their work with the patients well-being as their priority. 2nd day at home after discharge, and I’ve just had a call from the Knee Team to check how things are going - that is 5star service! Thank you all at Rjah

  5. Review titled Excellent care

    by Wild1 - Posted on 16 March 2023

I visited the hospital after the GP referral for knee pain. Was given a thorough and comprehensive assessment. All good but what blew me away was the attitude - from receptionist to consultant I was listened to and treated like a VIP. The time and care given was outstanding. I felt like I mattered and that an outcome would be forthcoming no matter how long it took. The hospital itself was immaculate and all procedures thoroughly explained. I honestly felt like I was receiving 5 star private health care.
