  1. Review titled Long Wait for A&E still waiting for MRI

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 January 2025

GP urged me to go to the nearest A&E as I was experiencing signs of a stroke. I was seen for initial triage within 1 hour, then had to walk to another building to be seen by a doctor. It took over 1 hour and I had to be seen again (another hour of waiting). Had to walk back to the first building where I eventually had blood pressure taken, blood tests, CT scan with contrast, and ECG scan (these were done in the span of 3 hours). I was told I'd need to have a MRI scan, but they couldn't keep me there (it was overcrowded and they were concerned over possible infection). What made things unprofessional was that the doctor only briefly came out to the waiting room and told me what medication they'd give me, but I didn't have time to write anything down or ask questions - I wasn't given a prescription. Then the nurse came to the waiting room, which was full of people, to remove the cannula, without any alcohol wipes and gave me some pills to take without explaining much. When I went to the Hospital pharmacy to pick up the medication, I was not allowed to even take a picture of the prescription and the pharmacist very quickly went through duration of treatment, dosages etc and I couldn't remember much. I'm still waiting for a MRI appointment. The doctor said on the day that they would refer me to my local hospital. Pros: Helpful doctors and nurses, but severely pressed for time. Cons: overcrowding, having to go back and forth, lack of clear communication, pharmacy staff unprofessional.

  2. Review titled So bad

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Iryna Prokipchuk - Posted on 14 January 2025

I had an appointment for 10:30 with a midwife. Unfortunately, I was 5 minutes late and they didn't accept me at the reception. I really needed this appointment. They said it wasn't their business and to come in two weeks. This is unacceptable. Because the last time I had an appointment, I came on time, but I had to wait more than an hour before they accepted me.

  3. Review titled Horrible Experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 January 2025

I came here for urgent treatment. I knew the normal waiting time. I spent almost one night to wait. But I don’t know why others who came later than me can get treatment much earlier than me. I was the only Asian patient. Just because I’m an Asian? It’s unfair. I experienced much more pain due to the slow treatment!

  4. Review titled Amazing staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Alice obrien - Posted on 13 November 2024

My daughter had to go under aesthetic to have a tooth removed. She is autistic. The staff were amazing. They made sure my daughter was comfortable and talked me through the whole process. As my daughter was going under I had a panic attack. One of the staff sat with me and made sure I was ok. They kept me updated on my daughter and I couldn’t have been more happy. Polite and friendly. Extremely happy with the service provided.

  6. Review titled Except for the surgical team, it was a challenge.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Keegan Shepard - Posted on 16 October 2024

I recently donated a kidney and spent about three days in hospital as an inpatient, during which time I was shocked by the lack of communication, widespread incompetence, and the prolonged periods of pain I was left to endure. The staff, some of the rudest people I’ve encountered, behaved as though they were doing me a favour, often reprimanding me for trivial things. One night nurse even handed me a stack of wet wipes and told me to clean the cannula tubing myself while I was trying to sleep. I anticipated some challenges, but the reality was far worse than expected. On multiple occasions, I had to fetch my own water from the tap, only to be told on my final day by a staff member that the water wasn’t suitable for drinking. This experience has been an eye-opener regarding the National Health Service, and while it was deeply frustrating, I feel it has given me a deeper understanding of some of the system’s issues.

  7. Review titled Chaotic, unprofessional, inept

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by James W - Posted on 09 October 2024

I suffered a serious head injury six weeks ago. Have now attended A&E for the third time at Royal London Hospital. The first time because of the initial injury during which no concussion checks were made and after a four hour wait I was sent on my way after a 30 second consultation. The second time 3 days later where there was no radiologist available after I persuaded them to conduct a skull x-ray, the results I still do not have and neither does my General Practitioner. The third today when attending after suffering severe headaches for 4 days and receiving a referral from my General Practitioner I waited 3 hours before deciding to take my chances with no prospect of getting timely help or my x-ray results. No available seating due to how busy it was; take it or leave it attitude from staff. Utter shambles. In summary chaotic, unprofessional, inept.

  10. Review titled Totally disorganised and unempathetic

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 August 2024

I was phoned to pick up my father from his knee operation at 4.30pm. Having had the doctor give the all-clear this morning, and having had his bags packed up this afternoon, he was in good spirits. But we were then told as we asked for a porter that the nurse had ordered a final blood test before 4pm which would take an hour. Five hours later, we are still waiting - and there is no urgency, compassion or empathy, as other patients leave. We tried for a self-discharge but the nurse wouldn’t give us the forms, saying a doctor would visit, and they wouldn’t call a porter to transfer to a car. I have been shocked by the lack of organisation and the lack of care from the nurse: they claimed that “none of the blood tests have been done this evening” and “you could be here until tomorrow even” and then claiming that there was nothing she could do about it. She even said that “At least we weren’t taking hospital transport as that could take until midnight” when there was a man in the ward waiting exactly for that - in fact, that man left an hour ago. Spirits couldn’t have got much lower for us: we are trapped here. My father feels forgotten, uncared for and that he has no control over the situation, having been well catered for by consultants and physios in the last four days. Why does the final level of care have to be so appalling? Will we ever get out of here tonight?
