  1. Review titled Gold star treatment from beginning to end

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Brenda Morley - Posted on 20 October 2024

From when my partner came for his referral appointment under the assumption a scan was included in the appointment, The Consultant himself went and arranged a scan there and then, rather that us having to travel back again from the Midlands. Right through to him receiving his Guided Focused Ultrasound on the 10th October, We cannot praise the Consultant and his team enough. Even with the lights failing on Jefferson ward the night before and having to sit in reception while they were being fixed, a staff member came out on her way off shift, asked us why we ware waiting there, listened to our reply, then went down to the ward for an update for us before she went home. Over and above service. The whole process was seamless, with information given to us with regard to accommodation, to his Secretary answering questions, to the nursing staff on the ward, nothing was too much trouble. Praise to everyone. It helped my partner overcome his nerves and is re assured that he will be well treated when he goes back next year to have his other side treated.

  3. Review titled Spinel surgery assessment appointment

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Darren gilling - Posted on 15 September 2024

Turned up at 12pm for a 12.20 appointment and was advised there was a delay, 1 hour 20 minutes later I asked how much longer it would be and was told by the nurse I was next, a further 15 minutes later the consultant opened the door and then asked another patient to go in. This person wasn’t supposed to have been before me., I left the building angrily got in my car to begin the journey home, whilst on route the consultant rang and said I was supposed to be seeing him and not the other patient, he also said he called my name which was a complete lie as he didn’t utter a word when he opened his door. I told him that after sitting in reception for almost two hours in pain, I was not prepared to be treated like this I finished the call by telling him is to stick his appointment. The Walton and the NHS are more interested in Diversty, dealing with foreign nationals and employing incompetents. In future I will suffer in silence, there is no way I would trust the Walton to operate on me after todays events Avoid the NHS at all costs

  4. Review titled Appointments chaos

Rated 1 star out of 5

Ongoing issues with appointments not being in sync with Doctor's treatment plan, (5 months later for a 2 month later treatment), appointments being cancelled and not being booked at all. Also issues with funding applications not being completed and being put on waiting lists for wrong type of clinic. There are some serious admin issues.

  5. Review titled Bad service

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Steve - Posted on 17 July 2024

I saw a consultant last September and a rep from a medical device company, both agreed the surgery was needed and I was told they where hoping to do it late Nov but was more likely to be December, so here I am in July still waiting and every time I call to find out when treatment will start I get told probably in another month , so I asked in Dec told it would be January, January told February, February was told March, ect you see the pattern, so my faith in this hospital is dwindling, unfortunately they are the only one to offer this treatment in the area,

  6. Review titled No communication - getting a bit desperate

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Neil Williamson - Posted on 23 June 2024

Having been listed for decompression surgery last year and being told that February/March were possible dates I undertook pre-op in January ( now expired I'm sure ). Since then nothing. My GP has written. I spent hours trying to contact my surgeon’s secretary but the phone was never answered. I'm getting so much worse as the days go on. I have every faith in my surgeon’s abilities but I just can't seem to have the two of us meet in an operating theatre. I just feel completely abandoned the first time I have really needed the nhs. What is going on? My wife was under the care of the now retired nurosurgeon with the initials pre since the late 90s and to this day albeit with a different Doctor has always been looked after well really well. No point telling me to contact the patient experience team because I did via email and also left a phone message on 7th of May and didn't receive a response to either. Despite getting confirmation that my email was received.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jake Wild - Posted on 17 May 2024

Visited the Halton UTC with extreme discomfort and pain that was stopping me from sleeping. Being listened to by the staff and given relevant advice went a long way after being told by Widnes UTC there was nothing I could do. I had a good night's sleep thank to their care. Thanks to all the staff especially the triage nurse in UTC can't thank you enough you made my week.

  8. Review titled Brilliant care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Beth - Posted on 28 December 2023

This centre is amazing... their staff are all incredibly motivated and knowledgeable. Their cohesion as a team is, honestly, like a well oiled machine. I've always had a problem with feeling safe anywhere, and its amazing finding somewhere you actually believe yourself to be as safe as houses. That sounds daft, but it's really important to me. I trust that if me being here is adding anything to the search for cures or diagnosis then that has fulfilled my reason for being here. I sincerely try to be useful in life, and I really hope this is being useful, also making me feel like an entirely new person from an important point of view for me, this treatment is astonishingly efficient, I would really like to hear more about what is being removed during the plasma exchange, only to give me sn idea of how it might be useful for someone else. I honestly can't understand that if something isn't good for one person, then it can't be good for everyone else. I'm being sensible with this though, believe me, because I 100% believe that the work is anonymous. Thank you Chavasse Ward, and all the staff who sail in her... Happy New 2024... its gonna be a stonker...xxx

  9. Review titled Incredibly caring and proficient

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jakki - Posted on 06 September 2023

For nearly a year I have been very worried about needing an embolisation to attempt to seal a dural venous arterial fistula. I was admitted for the procedure and was anxious, as a previous admission had resulted in a cancellation, due to an emergency. The team were very reassuring that this second attempt would go ahead, and I was relieved when I was sent for earlier than expected. Everyone who dealt with me was kind, professional and extremely caring. I was kept very calm and relaxed, which made everything less stressful. The team met me before the procedure and checked that I understood what would happen. In the recovery room the nurse was very helpful and phoned my husband to tell him that all had gone well. Back on Dott ward the staff were wonderful. They fully understood my needs and carried out all their observations quietly and efficiently. From the student nurses to the senior staff, they really couldn’t have looked after me better. The day after the procedure the consultant told me that the embolisation appears to have been a complete success, which is amazingly good news as they had warned me that they might not be able to fully seal the fistula. I was given excellent discharge advice, and the staff were very helpful about giving me ample time to contact my husband, as we live some distance from the hospital. My only small criticism is that nobody seems to be answering the phone. As I was feeling very unwell immediately after the procedure I turned my phone to silent. My husband had been trying to get an update on my progress but couldn’t speak to anyone. On the other hand, I totally understand that the high level of care that we, the patients, received might mean not answering phone calls which would distract from nursing responsibilities. To conclude, how incredibly fortunate are we to have access to such dedicated and competent neurological services? I cannot thank the staff and hospital enough. You are amazing.

  10. Review titled Experienced cared, just a shame about the nhs

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 September 2023

Waited a year for a referral for my headaches after a hospital admission last year. Doctor I saw from the Walton Centre was very professional and gave me multiple choices to help combat them. That's all I needed. It's taken a whole year to get this appointment, gp had been prescribing medications that weren't helpful for that entire time. What on earth has happened to the NHS that appointments are taking that long?
