  1. Review titled Maternity Triage

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 November 2024

Note: this is a repeat of my previous review as that has been altered to 5 out of 5 stars which is clearly not what I would give it! I phoned maternity triage after hours of agonising pains, in the early hours of the morning. The person who answered the phone asked if I had taken painkillers. i said no. She just said "why?" and then "i can't help you if you haven't tried painkillers first". i appreciate that this is presumably generic advice given and it makes sense, but her manner speaking to me was patronising, it did nothing but make me feel stupid and along with the pain, i ended up in tears. She didn't ask anything about the type of pain, how long it had been going on, nothing. There is a way to speak to people when they are scared, in pain and asking for your help, and this lady should have shown more empathy while advising that i would need to take paracetamol and see if that helped. By the way, it didn't. Disappointing as the maternity service has been excellent in my experience in this pregnancy, barring this incident.

  2. Review titled Lnhs staff are real life heroes

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Joe Richman - Posted on 29 October 2024

Whilst this hospital (like every nhs hospital) has issues with a bloated a&e waiting list, a few bad eggs in the ranks and not enough staff in places, I am truly blown away by the level of care and treatment I received here. Staff members were visibly being tested in many ways, managing huge, very stressful workloads and dealing with difficult individuals, but throughout my time here, I kept encountering porters, nurses, doctors and surgeons that went above and beyond at every step of my time in their care. They were caring, empathetic and incredibly hard working despite all the adversity that comes with working for the nhs. Watching them going about their incredibly difficult jobs, I thought to myself in admiration how I would never have the strength to do what they do whilst being so patient, they’re incredible. I really cannot find enough words express my gratitude and also just complete admiration for what you are all doing there, thank you so much for what you do for us in what is probably at times a thankless job. Watching people from all different ethnicities, religions and backgrounds pulling together to help people from all walks of life has left a lasting impact on my view of the nhs and the work of everyone there. Thank you so much.

  3. Review titled Very rude staff and inconsiderate policies

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Fatima Khatun - Posted on 07 November 2024

I was referred by my gp for a colonscopy. I had to cancel because i started my monthly so it would be unhygienic to have the procedure done then. I called up 3 times to rebook only once i was left a voicemail the other two times the phone only rang. After my doctor called me i told him what had happened. Then the clinic called me to rebook. I explained that ill need an escort and my escort is only available on tuesday and thursday. So the guy said we’ll call back if someone cancels. I said ok. Then another called me and asked me to come in at 8am i explained that I can’t because i need to drop my daughter to school. Then a few days ago a really rude staff called and said “right im going to have to remove you from the waiting list youve refused too many times. I told her i had a valid reason for cancelling my initial appointment and i dont have anyone to drop my daughter. She didnt consider anything i said and told me she will let my doctor know ive refused too many times. They have a policy of upto 5 offers. That wasnt even my 5th offer. Seriously what is wrong with your staff. Can you not consider my circumstances? How am i even meant to feel safe coming here when this is the way the staff deal with patients. I got a letter today saying ive been removed from the waiting list. This is so unfair and inconsiderate.

  4. Review titled Lovely dedicated staff, well lead.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My teenage daughter was rushed into A&E with chest pains. She was given person centred care and had all treatment given. I praise and thank you and I’m proud of the British nhs. Positive feedback will keep this bounty running in the future.

  5. Review titled Not Clean

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Sahar - Posted on 21 October 2024

The A&E children area is very colourful and nice painting to distract the children however there is no air circulation and very small waiting area with almost all chairs being full and many sick children around so not having the air circulation system it is likely children gets infected by others!! There no air condition in the room and the toilet is extremely dirty and no soup even to wash hands!! You expect the children department to be at least clean and hygienic.

  6. Review titled Helpful and polite

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by David H - Posted on 05 August 2024

Needed to speak with Phlebotomy team as my Highgate GP had sent a Blood test referral for me via SwiftQueue which I had booked using the link. Unfortunately the last time I used this I arrived for my appointment but the hospital did not have the request so didn't know what tests to do (high blood pressure, so kidney function) (not sure where the GP request went, as I was sent a link to follow but these things happen I guess) so I wanted to check they definitely had received it this time so that i didn't lose another half day off work and take up their time for nothing. Whilst it took quite a few attempts to get through, the man who took the call was helpful, polite and confirmed that the request was received this time. Hopefully it will now be OK on the day (next week) but the call handler was polite, well trained and able to help. That's all you can ask for.

  7. Review titled Awful experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 July 2024

I went to the Urgent Care Centre as I was feeling very unwell. First doctor gave me one diagnosis and the second consultant gave me another all without performing a single test. I did ask for some tests to confirm the diagnosis but none were made. They couldn't get rid of me fast enough. I am immunocompromised and this was totally ignored.

  8. Review titled Unprecedented surgical cancellations

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 July 2024

I was posted for an open hernia repair on 09/07/2024 as day treatment. I have been waiting for my surgery very badly as symptoms worsened over time. On the day of admission in the day treatment unit, after I changing to theatre attire and consent formalities, I was told that the surgery was cancelled due shortage of Anaesthetists. Moreover, all of my fellow patients who were desperately waiting for their surgeries were deeply flabbergasted. After a formal apology from a manager, we were send back. However, I highly appreciate the nurses in the unit who were very supportive and empathetic. Kindly make necessary contingent arrangements to avoid such situations which creates a negative impact on the invaluable NHS Services.

I was satisfied about my consultation but i got a letter from my hospital about my consultation. Letter was saying that i declined the speech and language therapy. But it is completely wrong. I haven’t declined, contrary i said that if it will be beneficial for my health i really would like to get speech and language therapy.

  10. Review titled Great Experience

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Stephanie - Posted on 04 July 2024

I came in on 3rd Jul and my doctor and her team were great (system won't let me name them!). They made me feel comfortable and safe and even though I was really worried about the hysteroscopy procedure being painful it was only uncomfortable for a few minutes and very bearable! My doctor even removed a polyp and I felt no pain!
