  1. Review titled Outstanding Endoscopy Treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Pamela Ludolf - Posted on 06 July 2024

Having a colonoscopy procedure isn’t something one would normally wax lyrical about, but on Tuesday, from the moment I was handed into the care of the Endoscopy Department to leaving Recovery, I was treated with great kindness and patience. Every single person, who I came into contact with, ensured I was comfortable, understood the process and provided me with great dignity. My doctor was the epitome of a truly caring and gentle professional, who took the time to put me at my ease and explain what was happening throughout. I honestly felt I received five star treatment from this wonderful department! York Hospital, I applaud and sincerely thank you.

  3. Review titled Amazing maternity unit

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have recently given birth at York Hospital and due to a large baby, was being induced early. The care and support given to me by midwives both during and after labour was phenomenal. They supported me during what was a tough labour, and then whilst navigating being a new mum and an extended stay on the ward. I’d like to thank all the midwife’s, particularly those that helped me deliver. We will always be grateful you helped our baby arrive safely.

  5. Review titled Kind and Quick

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Bennie - Posted on 08 July 2024

I had been involved in a traffic accident a couple of days previously, and I had symptoms of an arm fracture developing. I took myself to the reception and from there to the point I saw a doctor I was met warmly and efficiently. I think the whole process only took around 40 minutes, too, and considering how busy it was, I was amazed how quick it was. The doctor who saw me quickly gave me a diagnosis and some advice. Great experience all round!

  6. Review titled Shocking

by Anonymous - Posted on 08 June 2024

I didn’t want to go to A&E but my GP sent for suspected appendicitis so had no choice. One of the nurses came to talk to me about my insulin and eating, I tried to explain I felt too ill to take anything after I had been sick 3 times while I was talking she got distracted by the vending machine and bought herself snacks. The A&E dr though was absolutely lovely with me really took care of me he showed compassion and care which is rare for me to experience. Over the hours I got sicker and felt better then sicker. I was so ill by the early hours one lovely nurse found me a trolley on the trauma ward I had never felt so ill in my life. The biggest shock though was I had gone 13 hours without a drink and I kept asking 5 different nurses and never got any answers. The nurse on duty last night offered me a drink of water that wasn’t even mine it was a cup from a previous patient. Good Job I was on the ball. The A&E dr came to see me before he finished he could tell I wasn’t well where some felt I was faking it (history of mental health and that’s all some see). Discharged this morning while still very unwell as they couldn’t find a cause. Although a bad experience a massive shout out to 3 nurses and one dr!

  7. Review titled Wonderful treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Phillip - Posted on 05 June 2024

I visited audiology for my new hearing aids. The person I saw was friendly and professional putting me at ease very quickly. The result was me leaving with new hearing aids setup and enabling me to hear things I had not for quite some time. I cannot fault the care and attention during my visit. Thank you

  8. Review titled Exceptional service A&E and SAU Harrogate and York

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sandra - Posted on 25 May 2024

Harrogate A&E contacted SAU at Yorkshire District Hospital to organize a surgeon to repair an injury to my lip. The nurse at A&E did an exceptional job at temporary repair for the journey to the SAU. The surgeon at SAU was considering leaving the steristrip in place as perfectly aligned and started to “heal”. The surgeon decided on stitches as repairs were needed on inner lip also. Surgeon put me as ease explaining the procedure and why. Great conversation though I didn’t always respond as concerned about speaking while lip was being repaired. It was 19:00 when arrived and almost midnight when left SAU. Hope the surgeon was able to grab a snack and rest before next patient. He was very caring and friendly. Someone you would want as a friend/ neighbor. Sandra

  9. Review titled Excellent Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Tracy Smith - Posted on 08 May 2024

Couldn't fault the care I received in Accident & Emergency and the Urgent Care Centre. Initially went to A&E where I was seen and triaged very quickly to the UCC. Once there I was assessed by a Nurse Practitioner who sent me for an x-ray and then saw the same Nurse again on my return for the diagnosis (broken foot) and treatment/advice. All the staff that I came into contact with were very professional and caring. I arrived at A&E at 8.15am and left UCC at 10.00am. Thank you!!

I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone at York Hospital. Staff were very kind and helpful. It's obviously not ideal needing to visit a hospital but the staff really put me at ease. Thank you!
