  1. Review titled Fantastic Experiences

I have been to this hospital for CT Scans on 4 occasions now, and each time the staff have been so caring and considerate. Often seen before appointment time also. I find the hospital easy to reach from outside Manchester and easy to find a disabled parking space. Highly recommend, just wish my local hospital was as good as Trafford.

I would like to express my appreciation of the excellent care I received on ward 12 when having hernia surgery last Thursday and Friday. Without exception all the staff were superb and provided me with every support I needed. They did a brilliant job and should be appreciated/congratulated on what they did. Everyone was really supportive and helpful. Much appreciated.

  3. Review titled Great Team Work

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by gillian frances hughes - Posted on 23 September 2024

18 months ago I made a complaint about waiting times to see a consultant. I have now had the surgery and wish to compliment every member of staff I encountered. I was admitted to Ward 12 (elective surgery ward) on Monday 5th August 2024. I arrived at Entrance 6 at 6.50 am, although I knew the entrance didn't open until 7.00am. I was surprised to find that a member of staff was already there and showing people to the relevant ward. I expressed my surprise at her being early and she said that she was always there by 6.30 am to show everyone to the respected ward. At precisely 7.00 am the ward doors were opened and the admin. clerks were on the computers telling the meet and greet staff which beds were allocated to which patients. I was then escorted to my bed . After a few minutes the consultant arrived, to discuss what was going to happen, then the anesthetist and the nurse who would be looking after me for the day. For the next hour I was kept informed when I would be going down to the theatre. at around 10.10 am I was walked down to theatre by a porter and shortly after that taken into the anesthetic room and don't remember anything until I came round about 2.00pm with a nurse stroking my fave and asking did I want a heated blanket. After about 30 minutes, I was returned to the ward where my nurse was waiting to explain what would happen over the next few hours. A young lady brought me tea and toast, the ward cleaner asked if she could get me anything. All the staff were amazing from the consultant to the ward cleaner, so caring , nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff and I have nothing but praise for them all. My husband came to pick me up at 5.00pm but was asked to wait outside the actual ward, so not to spread germs, which I think is a great improvement. I have been on Ward 12, 5 times before and I can see a great improvement for the patient experience since my first visit in 2012. It is now a slick operation with all staff knowing their roles. A fantastic achievement to all concerned.

  5. Review titled Cycle parking

Rated 3 stars out of 5

    by A Cyclist - Posted on 28 July 2024

My comment is not about the healthcare, appointment process or staff, all of which were excellent. I would simply like to see better cycle parking at the hospital & better publicity about it. The “Getting Here” page of the website says “We strongly recommend using active travel or public transport to get to Trafford General Hospital”. However the second link on the home page is “Car Parking” with no mention of any cycling facilities on the page. The “Cycle” section of the “Getting Here” page says “We have cycle racks to lock your bike up outside all the hospital.” However there were none in sight anywhere near the Red Outpatients entrance & no obvious signs saying where they were. The downloadable map of the hospital site doesn’t even mark any cycle parking (the 5 car parks are clearly marked as you’d expect). Could I suggest the hospital provides some basic cycle “Sheffield” stands close to every entrance & this is publicised on the website? Or at least gives some indication both on the website & on-site as to their location? Thanks & best wishes.

Dear Patient, Mr Mark Foden, Group Associate Director of Sustainability would like to thank for bringing your experience and these shortfalls in cycling infrastructure and information to our attention. Mr Foden has advised that we are keen to make active travel easy for all, and we can see that your experience does not reflect this ambition. As a Trust we have a Healthy Travel Strategy where we aim to support all members of our communities to travel in the most sustainable way. In light of the suggestions in your email, we will endeavour to support improvements at Trafford General Hospital by: • Updating the online information and wayfinding signage to be more specific about where current cycle parking is available on the site; and • Undertake a review with our internal stakeholders to see if there is an opportunity to install more convenient Sheffield stands closer to the Red Outpatients entrance. There are a number of issues to take into account when we install new cycle parking including; maintaining the integrity of fire escape routes, the security of a location, and the availability of CCTV coverage. All of this will be taken into account as we seek to improve the cycling information and infrastructure. Mr Foden would like to reassure you that we have taken your concerns seriously. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 0161 276 8686 or by e-mailing pals@mft.nhs.uk. 6. Review titled CT Scan Appointment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Excellent experience and care at Radiology, when I was sent for a CT Scan via another hospital. I had no idea where the hospital was, and I arrived way too early for my appointment, but was seen, scanned and on my way back home within an hour of arriving.

  7. Review titled Don't go for antenatal care

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 July 2024

My antenatal care was rushed, impersonal and lacked important communication including only being able to get appointments on Wednesdays even if I couldn't go on those days and records not being updated correctly. The midwives were friendly but the care was lacking.

by Natasha Murray - Posted on 03 May 2024

I am heavily disappointed and still waiting for a return call from the manager of the sleep service. I have been penalised for the hospitals mistake and no one has even had the decency to apologise or explain why I can’t collect my CPAP Machine which I need. For the benefit of my health, I hope I am never referred here again.

Dear Iain, We are sorry that the phone was not answered when you tried to contact us. Our main contact centre phone lines have a messaging service which informs patients of the opening hours, however, in some cases a phone number may be provided for an area which does not have these facilities in place. We would like to apologise because an answerphone function should be available on phone lines provided to patients to ensure that they can leave messages for the team to pick up when they are available. Unfortunately, on this occasion you have not received the standard of service we aim to offer. We would like to assure you that your concerns are being taken seriously, however, it is difficult to investigate your specific concerns without any further detail or patient identification. It is for that reason we would welcome you to make contact directly with the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) to discuss these concerns. If you could contact PALS on 0161 276 8686 or by e-mailing pals@mft.nhs.uk quoting reference number PO24/00058 they will be able to discuss this with you. As soon as we have further details, we will review the phone number provided to you and look into why there is not a messaging function to avoid this happening again. Thank you.
