Review titled Resus
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Dad was admitted on 7/11/24. Due to lack of beds he was held here for 18+ hours and despite being slammed with blue light patients the care my dad received was exemplary. He needed a lot of self care help and this was never an issue, everything was explained questions and concerns answered with gentle honest answers. Doctors were reassuring and communication never an issue. I wish the staff all the very best. Keep up the great work. Thank you

Review titled Receptionists really let the Hospital down
Rated 1 star out of 5

Nurse accidentally told me to empty my bowels, meaning I wasn’t able to complete my appointment, but both her and the doctor were very nice in explaining this and helped me to find a new appointment later on the same day which I really do appreciate. But the receptionists are very rude, they do not acknowledge your presence when you greet them until they are done with their gist session. They behave as though asking them to check in with your appointment doctor is a chore and outside of the scope of their job. They are a very ugly ugly representation of the hospital, considering how nice the iss staff, doctors and nurses are.

Review titled Urgent Care Treatment
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was on a day trip to Greenwich from Kidderminster by Coach on my own and I had to be back to the coach by 16.45, I had a trip and cut my jaw and the bleeding would not stop, the Ambulance Crew could not stop it and I had to go to your Urgent Care Department where they decided it need stitching and it was now it was now about 15.50 and there was a danger of the Coach having leave without me and the team told me not to worry they could get me on it, the Coach Driver agreed to pick me up at the Hospital and they worked all out to do this. This was exception service by your hospital and I really thank everyone who was involved and I would recommend them for a reward.

Review titled Great Practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Peter - Posted on 13 September 2024
I was experiencing an acute crisis in Myasthenia Gravis and was exhausted and a bit desperate. All the nursing and medical staff were absolutely brilliant, the junior doctor in particular, who showed excellent knowledge of all the specific Myasthenia tests required. but also including the senior consultant. They were caring, meticulous and also great at reaching out to Kings College Neurology. All the tests and scans were done promptly. They emphasised that their neurology dept.does not specialise in Myasthenia but at a time of considerable `personal stress and anxiety they did a great job. In my experience, in this personal crisis, the nursing and medical staff were absolutely superb.

Review titled Poor maternity service
Rated 1 star out of 5

I am in my second trimester and experienced a stomachache, so I went straight to the maternity triage. The staff was very unwelcoming and I was told to wait until being called. I was waiting for nearly an hour whilst there were not many patients and a lot of midwives were not busy at all. A doctor finally turned up and asked me to get changed so she could check my cervix. She did say if she had a call from a theatre she had to go. I got changed immediately and was left waiting for ages again and none of them did bother to care. There were too many available midwives and none of them was capable of checking cervix whereas I had it checked by a midwife at a different hospital before and it took no more than 5 mins. This is very disappointing as I was told to go to the hospital immediately but the speed and quality of the services was below par for an emergency department. I could not wait for the doctor to return and went home.

Review titled Thank you NHS for caring and changing my life!
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Ana Rocha - Posted on 08 September 2024
Recently I had surgery at ENT, Lewisham University Hospital. This surgery, considered 'elective', has changed my life! The fact that I can now breathe properly means I can have a restful sleep, exercise, be more productive at work, and even have a life outside work! I lived with constant headaches, eternal fatigue, dizziness, and constant low blood pressure, which sometimes made me depressed. From my GP at Torridon Road to all the receptionists, support staff, nurses and doctors who helped me, and cared for me until my surgery I can only say 'thank you!'. These words are short to express my gratitude and how well I was cared for. I now live a healthy life which makes me feel happy every day and more helpful as a citizen who can give much more back to society, whether at work or outside. Health is the most precious thing in our lives! May we all always have the NHS supporting us and understanding how fundamental it is, so we will always fight for it! If it needs improvement in some areas, let's do our best to support that change, but never question its existence! From the bottom of my heart, thank you, NHS!

Review titled Still waiting in pain
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 09 August 2024
I had an X-ray for a suspected stress fracture in my foot on July 24th, today is 9th August and I am still waiting for my results. Meanwhile the pain has worsening to the point where I cannot walk on hard surfaces outside without being in immense pain and making the fracture worse. I do not drive so getting to the urgent care centre in Woolwich would take several buses and so is not really an option. I have had to buy my own fracture boot so I am not completely housebound. Do I have to wait until it fractures completely before anything will be done?

Review titled Excellent experience
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Paul Sullivan - Posted on 16 July 2024
I attended for a colonoscopy, not the nicest procedure but all the staff from receptionists to the nurses were friendly, professional and supportive. Every effort was made to make me feel confident and the whole procedure was carried out without problem and despite declining sedation or pain relief I was comfortable throughout without discomfort. I cannot praise the staff at Lewisham high enough, despite pressure of work and some awkward patients they were never anything but exemplary. Highly recommend.

Review titled Disappointing
Rated 3 stars out of 5

Was referred by GP to see Orthopaedic consultant about hip pain - having had an X ray 6 months previously. I was shown my Xray - informed the arthritis wasn’t too bad and put on the list for Physio . Couldn’t have been in there more than 2 minutes. The Consultant seemed very uninterested and as if he couldn’t wait to move on to the next patient. I understand there is a lot of pressure to get through lists , but a brief chat about how I felt , my lifestyle etc would have been nice ! I left feeling I had wasted his time

Review titled Great care by multiple staff members
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Julia - Posted on 25 May 2024
I went in for a gynecology procedure involving general anaesthetic. The staff in a ward and in the anaesthesia dept were all very kind, professional and made me feel comfortable. Being kind and caring, and explaining wheat they were doing/intended to do was the main thing that helped. Thank you Lewisham hospital 😊
