Review titled Disgusting
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Jill - Posted on 20 July 2024
My son was taken here by ambulance after a fall onto his back, using gas and air on the way in as he was in so much pain. In the hospital he was given a bed and after 2 hours of not been seen was then asked to get out the bed and sit in the waiting room, my 12 year old son had to hobble out the bed in pain into the waiting area. Needless to say, I left and took him to another hospital.

Review titled Good care

I was in for day surgery which was more challenging than expected. The recovery staff were fantastic my nurse I was a bit confused and in a lot of pain but they stayed with me all of the time I was there. She was concerned about my pain level and wasn’t happy about me going home and arranged a bed on ward 14 . I was on this ward all night and the next day. They were very busy with patients coming and going but the staff were all brilliant. I was discharged after tests and my pain was under control. I thank everyone who I had contact with for their great care.

Review titled Kind and professional care

This hospital deserves much more credit than it’s been given in many of the reviews I’ve seen. Brought my mother here after she hurt her back in a fall and she in was in a great deal of pain and distress, uncertain as to whether she’d broken something. We were given a same day appointment at the Urgent Treatment Centre and were seen on time by wonderful, friendly staff who sorted things out quickly and were very kind and reassuring. Thank you to the staff at Urgent Care!

Review titled Ward 9
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have just had a brief stay on ward 9, after spending months listening to people complaining about the treatment at Uhnd I was very apprehensive when I had to be admitted however the staff on ward 9 were amazing. It was so nice to see staff who seemed they actually cared and were extremely happy to do anything in their power to help you.

Review titled Excellent Service

5/6/24 I had an appointment for a CT scan at 9am. The 2 members of staff were amazing. I was put at ease with their lovely chat and all instructions were well explained. Everything was so calm I totally relaxed and there was no rush at all . After the procedure the nurse was so caring stating that there was no rush to go and she checked on me to make sure I was Ok as well as seeing to other patients as well .An experience that could have been traumatic was so friendly that I came away calm and relaxed. And there was not a sign at all of where the canula had been. Amazing. Many thanks to the two of you.

Review titled Terrible hospital

I came in Wednesday afternoon on to A&E don't even get me started about these lot,, then admitted to ward 4 Acute medical. All I can say is the day staff are not helpful at all, I sat all day in my room with no explanation of what was going on with me, even when I asked what was happening they just looked at me and walked out the room! I asked one nurse who had black and red hair if she could help with something and her tone was disgusting! I don't know what happened to nurses/doctors caring for patients! Disgraceful staff and disgraceful ward!!

Review titled Wonderful Doctors and staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Gill Wrigley - Posted on 08 May 2024
Hi I would like to praise the staff who were working in the A and E department last night and say a huge thankyou for taking such great care with my husband. It was a very busy time and there was so much to deal with but the quality of care and support from the doctors and all the staff was second to none. My husband was transferred at 3am to the spinal unit at James Cook following tests completed at A and E and I am so grateful that these were done and resulted him in having the surgery he needed. Please accept these thanks from both of us - you are wonderful!

Review titled Astounding experience
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Following an appointment at GP I had to attend SDEC for a possible scan. From the minute I arrived we were so impressed and my sister who worked with premature babies until retirement from Exeter was blown away by the services provided here in Durham.I was fortunate to be assessed quickly by a lovely nurse who wanted to give me an MOT.Forgive me if I am unsure of exact job titles but she will know who she is!Bloods sent away and while we waited I was astounded to be offered tea and biscuits. Then an X ray completed quickly and friendly radiographer.Back to waiting room to find my sister had been given a bag containing my lunch! We were speechless.Bloods processed quickly in haemotology who had alerted my GP the previous evening. We forget all the staff working behind the scenes who do such a fantastic job too. Finally visit from doctor and thankfully good news for me but had it not been I know I was in a fabulous hospital. We left yesterday just blown away by the whole experience.Thank you NHS but particular shout out to this amazing hospital and staff.Keep up the good work and keep being you!Karen

111 referral came own transport with patient. Nurse verbal arival brief reason for visit. Sent round corner to give patient details and told to sit. 5min called to triage with patient exam BP and other obs then bloods and history then asked to sit. 10min later patient called for ECG and whilst waiting offered a cup of coffee 1st in any A&E attendance. ECG done then sit board says doctor 2.5hrs as it had since arrival comment ambulance out side went from 1 to 7 then at 2 hours down to 3 maybe number of ambulance admission waiting could be on board as this makes wait understandable 😀 over all much more positive experience but it's a small area and hear it's too be redeveloped. Tea coffee facilities also available card payment in lobby

Review titled The best care I could have asked for.
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I gave birth at durham hospital last month. my whole pregnancy I was terrified of giving birth and on my way into hospital while I was in labour I was absolutely terrified of what was about to happen. As soon as I got on the ward and put in my room I met my midwife and instantly felt at ease. Every one I came into contact with was so reassuring and caring towards me. My midwife was so supportive and made my time in labour so relaxing. I never thought I’d enjoy labour but looking back it was an amazing day and I loved every second. Any concern or worries I had I was out to ease and listened to. I’m so grateful for the amazing care I received.
