Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Luke - Posted on 09 November 2024
Visit shortly after 8am to get a cut on my foot looked at. Very friendly, quick and helpful service from everyone I dealt with - was triaged immediately then had an xray straight. Then a short wait to be seen by the nurse who treated me. Great experience - thank you.

Review titled Amazing service!

I attended today for a Mammogram but then had all the tests including a Ultrascan, a observation and a biopsy. At each stage I was given first class support on what was quite traumatic for me. There is not one of the team I saw that I felt did not give 100% to me in both treatment and bedside manner. I left feeling like they did everything they could. The one stop breast clinic is second to none and we are so very, very lucky it's on our doorstep! Thank you all for treating me at every point with empathy and compassion. You are all doing an amazing job!

Review titled This hospital is an exemplary example care and efficiency
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Wendy Henderson - Posted on 31 October 2024
Whilst on holiday in Amble I contacted NHS 111, as I felt ill and was advised to go to the Wansbeck Urgent Treatment Centre. It was late evening when I arrived. The receptionist was very polite and helpful. After a short wait, I was called in to see the nurse who listened very carefully and was very professional. She gave me an examination and said that I needed to see a doctor. Because of the late hour a doctor was not available and I was advised to return early next day but to call NHS 111 again if symptoms got worse overnight. Next morning I saw another receptionist who was equally polite and helpful. After a very short wait, I saw the nurse who checked my notes and asked me to provide a sample. She booked me for an appointment with the doctor. I was treated with professionalism and never felt rushed. The nurse listened carefully to what I had to say. After another short wait, I saw the doctor who took care to listen and was very professional. I felt very reassured. After checking my notes and the sample I was given an examination. The doctor confirmed that I had an infection and gave me the required antibiotics. I was very impressed by the treatment I was given. Every member of staff was very friendly and helpful. There were no long waits. The illness could have ruined my holiday but the whole hospital experience was smooth and efficient. I could not have asked for more. Every patient I saw was treated with respect. This Urgent Treatment Centre is a shining example of how the NHS should operate. I felt very fortunate to have been treated there.

I attended with a flare of tonsillitis which I had hoped to manage my self with pain relief. Sadly my tonsil had different ideas. Wonderful, slick operation. Reception girls friendly and helpful, triage nurse kind an reassuring, specialist practicioner quick and concise. I am a visitor to this area on holiday and I want to express what a little gem of a service this is. Cheers

I had a procedure under general anaesthetic at the day surgery unit. I was nervous about having a GA but needn't have worried. Staff were all lovely, reception, cleaners, healthcare assistants, doctors and nurse, everyone. A highly professional, efficient and caring unit. Thank you so much.

Review titled Made to feel stupid by nurse with bad attitude.
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 10 August 2024
I attended because I had severe shoulder pain to the point of not being able to move my arm, I was in agony. I was booked in quickly and the triage nurse saw me very quickly, but their attitude was not friendly. They were very quick to tell me that I should've gone to my GP instead, which gave me the impression they thought I was a time waster. I very rarely go to my GP or to the urgent care centre, I only go if I really feel I need to. The nurse then said "I'll examine you" and pretty much before I could respond, they harshly poked and prodded at my very sore shoulder and said "so it just hurts everywhere then" when I couldn't tell them exactly where the pain was coming from. They booked me in to see the hospital doctor but again said "in future go to your GP" as if I was a waste of time. If I had gone to the wrong service that's absolutely fair enough but the nurses attitude was not OK, they totally made me feel stupid and as though I wasn't worth their help, when I was in extreme pain. I understand the stress staff are under but not everyone is a time waster, I was visibly in pain and distress. I then saw 2 doctors who were much more professional and understanding. They diagnosed me with frozen shoulder which is very painful. The nurse should've been a bit more professional especially with how abruptly they examined my shoulder. It made me feel like I shouldn't use the walk in service ever again, and to be honest I probably won't.

Had a new knee done yesterday. Every single individual was just superb and made my experience the very best it could be. Thank you so much to the surgical team including recovery, the team on ward 15, the team on ward 10 and the physiotherapists. I really appreciated the extremely high standard of care. I cannot recommend this hospital highly enough.

Attended Wansbeck Hospital for a TKR at the specialist orthopaedic department, including wards 10 and 15 and physio. Every single staff member I encountered during the overnight stay was first class. Caring, friendly and excellent at their jobs. I could not have been in better hands. Thanks to everyone. I highly recommend WH.
