Review titled Exceptional care in a clean and bright space
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 20 November 2024
The doctor and nurse team were so kind, full of empathy and supportive during my recent visit for my first hysteroscopy. They were professional and informative, helped to take away any fears and it felt a very safe space. A real credit to themselves and the NHS. I wanted to take them all home! Thank you - what an amazing team of individuals - every one of them.

Review titled Terrible treatment
Rated 1 star out of 5

I took my son for abdominal pain, the lady doctor was an absolute brute. He was given morphine and sent home alone! Next day at Barncoose he was treated for sepsis and had emergency surgery for a twisted bowel during that night at Treliske. I am convinced without the amazing staff at Barncoose who managed to catch him “in the golden hour “ that he would not have survived.! The surgery at Treliske also saved him.

Review titled First endoscopy
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Adam Morrison - Posted on 25 July 2024
I visited the Penlee unit for a naso-gastroscopy. I am partially agoraphobic, and unfortunately had to make my way in on my own. All staff I came into contact with from the main entrance reception onwards and back out again were so friendly and helpful. This comes as little surprise to me with my previous experiences at West Cornwall. I found the endoscopy suite impressive and of course, clean like the other areas I was in. There was a lovely chatty atmosphere rather than morose and clinical. I was made to feel as comfortable as possible, and while the procedure isn't the nicest thing to have done, the endoscopist was so careful to avoid damage/discomfort. Indeed, I didn't even have a nosebleed after which I was expecting. Only a sore throat until the next day. I cannot thank the team/staff enough for their professionalism and bright attitude-very appreciated, including the nurse who had her hand on my shoulder throughout telling me how well I was doing! Thank you all.

Review titled Exceptional care
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I just wanted to say what an incredibly kind and caring team I was treated by when I attended for my hysteroscopy last week. I was very worried about having this procedure but I felt that everyone involved empowered me to cope really well throughout. I was genuinely touched by the kindness shown to me which created a feeling of camaraderie and warmth. I felt safe and completely confident with this fantastic team of professional women. So much so that I was able to put into practice my breathing techniques. The gynaecologist explained what was happening at all times and gave me the paperwork straight afterwards so I felt I really understood the process. Thankyou too for the extras, like the comforting hot water bottle during the procedure and the cup of tea afterwards. The recovery room was spotlessly clean and I’d say this was the best hospital experience I’ve have ever had.

I had spoken to 111 and then a doctor who advised me that someone from the urgent care centre would contact me , i did not know if the out of hours GP service ran from there , either way it was what the dr on the phone said. i heard nothing so contacted 111 again the following day about my sick daughter. they advised me to call wch which i did and i was basically told off by a receptionist and a dr explaining they would never contact a patient . i’m sorry but this is exactly what the dr at 111 said would happen for me sick daughter . so rude and unprofessional and unhelpful .

Review titled No Cycle Parking
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Alex Evans - Posted on 29 May 2024
The carpark is now gone to make way for a new building, hence I took alternative transport methods to cycle to the hospital, but the works have removed the cycle parking. Had to lock my bicycle to railings in the disabled parking area.

Review titled Awful doctor

I went to the A and E department at west Cornwall due to being in severe constipation pain for the past 4 days and the laxative which had been prescribed by my GP wasn’t working I know of another stronger laxative that has worked before, so when it was my turn to see the doctor I explained my situation and explained that the aforementioned laxative was what I needed they however wanted to start me off on the lowest form of laxatives which I had been on for years previously and never worked whereas the one I had asked for definitely worked he said he wouldn’t prescribe me that and that there is a process to follow I duly refused because it would have just made me suffer for 3 more days and not solve the problem I said I will go to treliske and see what they say he said ok and just walked off I feel that it was very rude of him and the level of service was appalling and every time I’m I’ll I’m just going to make the trip up to treliske instead as they prescribed me the exact laxative I asked for within 3 hours of me getting there the staff at treliske are fantastic and can’t thank them enough but the doctor at west Cornwall was shocking.

Review titled First class care

I walked into Urgent Care with chest pains and was seen immediately. The staff were all friendly, caring and efficient, wasting no time, but also reassuring me. My bloods were taken and tested and my diagnosis explained to me in detail. I was also advised that should I have any worries, I could always go back to the Urgent Care unit. It was outstanding NHS care, I was extremely grateful and happy with it.

Review titled Very flexible service
Rated 5 stars out of 5

This is with the regard to the phlebotomy service who allowed a client who has drug and alcohol issues to attend without an appointment. They were sympathetic to the fact there had been many failed attempts and that he can be volatile. This has helped the client and our service greatly. Thank you.
