Review titled Exemplary care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Tom Banin - Posted on 10 December 2022
I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to the nurses that looked after me at Accident & Emergency on both Saturday and Monday morning in early December. After accidentally burning myself in the kitchen, I was a bit shaken up but felt very reassured and well-cared for once arriving at Accident & Emergency. Despite it being busy on the Saturday morning, I was seen pretty quickly (and had the same experience again early on Monday morning). The nurse I saw on Saturday morning was understanding and compassionate: they talked me through all of the various steps/ actions they were taken, including a potential referral to another hospital unit. They were kind and understanding, despite the potentially embarrassing nature of the incident. After the advice to return again after 48 hours, I was seen by a different nurse, but one who was equally caring and empathetic. Although the wound was healing well at this point, there was further reassurance and the opportunity to return in another 48 hours if required. You could tell that the staff were working incredibly hard and we see in the media that A&E units are very busy, so I didn't really want to go after the accident. However, the care I received was exemplary and I am so grateful for the nurses that looked after me.

Review titled Thank you for saving my daughters life
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Nikki - Posted on 27 March 2023
My daughter suddenly took ill the Paramedic arrived at the house her swift actions diagnosed the issue and stabilised my daughter sufficiently for the Ambulance team to blue light her to Wexham Park A&E who were waiting for her. They along with their colleagues from Gynaecology department showed immense care and expertise in quickly identifying the issue and rushed her to the Theatre where she received a lifesaving operation. We cannot fault the care and support my daughter was given and the concern the staff showed as they quickly worked to save her. They even came to find her in a ward the next day to see how she was after their shifts. It was seeing the NHS at its very best and we will be forever grateful for the professionalism and kindness they showed - thank you

Review titled Overall, brilliant
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 19 March 2023
Referred by my GP late December for flu/breathing difficulties. In what must have been one of the most difficult months the hospital had seen, all I can say is that the professionalism of the staff shone through. Yes, I waited a fair while. Yes, I was sat in a corridor at first for treatment, but they immediately realised when I was struggling too much and moved me to resus. The care was amazing - the a&e was on its knees, there were patients queuing every way you looked and all down corridors and attention to detail never dropped. My one negative experience was the triage nurse who made me feel like I shouldn’t have been there by remarking “so you have a cough just like everyone else but you decided to come to a&e.” This despite my GP having just seen me and referring me to the medics. I was having a severe asthma attack. Luckily, she was so outraged that AMU wouldn’t take me that she consulted a dr who confirmed that my breathing not good, and arranged for me to be treated straight away. If he hadn’t done that, I’d been made to feel so small that I’d probably have walked out the department.

Dear Anonymous, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave this review of your experience at Wexham Park. I am delighted that you found the overall experience to be so good – and that you were able to see past the intense busyness of the hospital at the time to appreciate the professionalism of the staff. While I appreciate your feeling that the interaction you had with the triage nurse might have been improved it is reassuring to know that – despite the initial encounter – you were well taken care of and looked after. I will share your feedback with the team who will appreciate it. Thank you again and kind regards, Alex Jackson, Patient Experience Manager, Frimley Health Foundation Trust

Review titled Everyone was kind and did their best
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Christine Luck - Posted on 30 December 2022
After I experienced racing heartbeat and chest pains my GP advised me to attend A&E at Wexham Park. I had interactions with at least 11 members of staff doing tests, taking detailed histories or guiding me around. Everyone made me feel that my case was important to them. Finally I was given a very detailed and professional evaluation of my condition and a plan of what would be the best way to investigate it further. Thank you to everyone for making, what could have been a difficult day a positive experience.

Review titled Excellent care carried out with utmost kindness
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Chris Luck - Posted on 27 November 2022
On Saturday I had a colonoscopy in the Endoscopy Unit at Wexham Park Hospital. The nurse who admitted me and cared for me throughout the procedure was extremely kind and helpful. She explained everything clearly and I felt comfortable asking questions. Once I was in the treatment room I was shown the same kindness and respect by the consultant and the two nurses assisting him. I was impressed with the care that was taken to make sure I understood and was happy with everything. The people who rang me up beforehand and all the information I was sent were also very professional in everything that was done. We only had one problem, we arrived half an hour early and then couldn't find the Endoscopy unit. Telling us which car park to use would have been helpful.

Review titled It just gets worse and worse
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 24 November 2022
Went to A and E after a fall on the 12th Nov 22. Knee was extremely painful but was told it was not broken or fractured and would heal in 2 weeks. Went back to A and E 22nd Nov22 as advised by GP as pain had got worse. Turns out I had a fracture in my knee and needed it plaster and non weight bearing. This was after an 12 hour wait in A and E. If that wasn't enough, I was sent home with a brace that didn't fit and caused me more pain and then had to go back to have brace fitted. My experience with this hospital just gets worse and worse. Also recommend sending staff on training on how to deal with people.

Review titled Great nurses
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Jan spicer - Posted on 20 December 2022
I broke my wrist and went A & E at Wexham. On arrival I was welcomed and check in rapidly. I only waited 10 minutes and a nurse called me to be examined. She was so kind and gentle and offered me pain relief. While in the waiting area she came and found me and gave me some paracetamol and water. Approximately 15 minutes later I was called for an X-ray. The original nurse called me back to the examination room where she told me my wrist bones were impacted and needed resetting. She said there was a specialist nurse coming to perform manipulation as she could not do this for me. She reassured me that I would be give pain relief. Back in the waiting area for only 20 minutes or so then a lovely Nurse Practitioner called me through to the treatment area. He thoroughly explained the damage to my wrist and what he had to do to put it right. He was assisted by two other nurses while he pulled my impacted wrist bones apart and positioned my wrist in a suitable position. Then he applied a plaster cast. I was given great pain relief during this procedure. He and the other nurses made me laugh and put me at ease. They were all wonderful. I was then referred to fracture clinic which was also run by brilliant staff. I had regular appointments and X-rays. The X-ray department staff were also very kind and professional. My wrist successfully healed. I give thanks to the marvellous staff in the plaster room a brilliant bunch of ladies. My last appointment in fracture clinic I saw a wonderful young doctor who explained the result of my fracture and that one of the bones had shorted as a result of the break he showed great concern and kindness and and reassured me. He said he would arrange physio would see me again in eight weeks. He was marvellous explaining everything and genuinely cared. Less than a week after having my cast removed a lady from Physio phoned to book me in for physio. What fantastic staff their computer system may be tricky but with such amazing staff you wouldn’t know. I start my physio in two weeks. Very grateful thanks to all the staff I was treated by. You are wonderful amazing people.

Review titled Horrendous Wait Times, No information forthcoming
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Karl Hills - Posted on 04 November 2022
Brought my partner to this hospital after being referred by 111. 5 and a half hours after being seen by triage, we still haven't even been called for her bloods tests as of yet. I've tried to ask once for an idea of time, only to be told she's "got a long wait" and it would be 9 hours now... it was 6 hours when we came in. appreciate short staff etc... but there needs to be some communication and politeness would be nice from the receptionist for a start. And no tge information on your screens doesnt help. It gives literally no information at all. Genuinely horrified by our experience here. Some people we'd spoken to had to wait 12 hours. Not acceptable.

Review titled Attentive and caring
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Susan Pape - Posted on 25 November 2022
I Was admitted as a day patient for a hysteroscopy under general anaesthetic. I can't fault any of the staff that cared for me during my visit which was approx 6.5 hours. Everyone was caring and kind and explained exactly what was happening and what was to be done. Following the procedure I was monitored in recovery area 1 and then to recovery area 2. In each area I was diligently cared for. What a fantastic team of proffesionals. So, if you are reading this as a future day patient don't be worried, you will be in very safe hands.
