Review titled Extremely Bad
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 05 June 2023
I had severe pain in my leg and couldn't walk or move my leg because of a serious inflamation and compressed nerves due to a skin condition. I was made to wait for 10 hours in the waiting room before I could meet a doctor. It was a boon that I was blacking out/falling asleep in between the wait or else I wouldn't be able to cope with the pain for which the nurses treated me with regular paracetamol; and only after complaining I began to receive different painkiller which was only slightly better. The issue here is the wait times; and lack of doctors to look at 50+ people in front of me in the triage. I would not recommend this hospital to others unless they absolutely love to sit in a wheelchair with a constant pain and they're unable to do anything about it.

Dear Anonymous, Thank you very much for taking the time to let us know about your experience at Wexham Park. Please accept my sincere apologies on behalf of the Trust that your experience fell far short of the experience our teams aim to deliver every day. While I am unable to do anything now to improve your experience I will share your feedback with the team involved who will use it as a learning tool. I hope you are now recovered and that your next experience in ED is significantly better than this. Kind regards, Alex Jackson, Patient Experience Manager, Frimley Health Foundation Trust

Review titled Disappointing care
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 21 February 2023
This was an urgent attendance to the maternity assessment unit. The quality of care from staff (midwife and 2 doctors) was very disappointing and at times distressing. This included basic things such as the SpR Dr not introducing herself despite then doing an intimate examination, and both doctors and midwives asking me to get undressed for examination and then not returning for extended periods. There was little regard to patient dignity. I’d like to think this was due to staff being too busy but the unit seemed very quiet at the time. Overall this didn’t meet basic standards of care that I would hope to expect.

Dear Anonymous, I shared your feedback with the maternity team and they have provided the following response: “Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback on your recent visit to our Maternity Assessment Centre. We are sorry to hear that this experience fell below the standard of care we would expect and strive for within our maternity services. All staff members are aware to introduce themselves at the outset of every contact with patients, following our 'Hello my name is' initiative. I apologise that this was not the case when you attended. We expect all families within our care to be treated with compassion, dignity and respect; this is undoubtedly a central part of quality in care and again I am sorry that you feel this was lacking on this occasion. I can confirm that your comments have been escalated appropriately and that learning will be disseminated to the midwifery and obstetric teams working in our Maternity Assessment Centre. I sincerely anticipate that any future visits to our Maternity Assessment Unit will meet your expectations. If you do have any further concerns or would like to discuss this in more detail, please do not hesitate to contact us.” Kind regards, Alex Jackson, Patient Experience Manager, Frimley Health Foundation Trust fhft.patientexperience@nhs.net

Review titled Inconsiderate Ambulance Service
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 25 February 2023
I was in excruciating pain and I was home alone, after several calls to 111 then sent me an ambulance. The minute they arrived into my home they were more interested in playing with my puppy than even worrying about me. They asked if they could let him out of his pen which they did, I was lying on the sofa in agony whilst my puppy jumped and ran all over me. They gave me morphine and said they were going to wait 20 mins for it to kick in, in the meantime they continued to play with my puppy. They finally got me in the ambulance, made me sit on a chair for the journey even though they knew I was in so much pain with sciatica. They then moved me to a wheelchair- another horribly uncomfortable seat and left me in a long line of ambulance waiting patients. They showed no empathy or care, infact made me feel like I was being a nuisance

Dear Anonymous, Thank you for your message. This feedback relates to care provided by the ambulance service - which is a different organisation to Frimley Health. Frimley Health is largely served by two ambulance Trusts - South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) or South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAMB). If Wexham Park is your local hospital the ambulance service is most likely to have been SCAS and the email address for them is: patientexperience@scas.nhs.uk However if you are more likely to use Frimley Park then SECAMB is most likely to be your ambulance Service and their contact details are: pet@secamb.nhs.uk Kind regards, Alex Jackson, Patient Experience Manager, Frimley Health Foundation Trust

Review titled Amazing care despite being under resourced
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Julian Howells - Posted on 18 February 2023
Waited in A@E 30 mins. Initial triage nurse thought I looked too unwell just to have a sore shoulder 20 mins later in a CT scanner Multiple rib fractures, haemothorax, renal bleed Uncomfortable night in resus bay- as no beds I was happy to die at that point In pain. Unable to pee. Bleeping noises around me Staff amazing and caring Moved to ward 2 Brilliant staff- nurses, cleaners, porters, medics and many others Great team Great camaraderie Everyone was great. The system is creaking at the seams. Ward 2 looks like part of the old hospital Not enough room really foot the poor fella who needed the crash team. We all heard every word. The thin curtains are not sound proof Every time I went for a scan the corridors were packed with the infilirm on beds. Like a scene from a war movie Staff were amazing- but seemed to be reaching the end of their tether I can’t thank the hospital enough. Outstanding care- but the system is underfunded.

Review titled Great service from the doctor who saw me
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by LUCILLE CHAMBERS - Posted on 25 February 2023
Yes, I had to wait a while but the doctor who saw me was amazing. He was professional and pleasant and explained everything really well. Such a kind meticulous person. I was left understanding what had happened, what to look for and who to go to if there was an ongoing issue. I seriously had a real positive experience and I could hear and see other staff trying to maintain a high standard. I plan to send a direct email into the hospital so that this doctor gets to know that he is doing good. Thank you again

Review titled Excellent Care
Rated 3 stars out of 5

Having accompanied a colleague with severe chest and lung pain to the A&E last Friday morning, Id like to compliment the staff at Wexham Park A&E from the reception desk, through the amazing nursing team and all the doctors, including the gent serving tea. My colleague was taken through within 5 minutes of arrival, and its obvious as we sat in the corridor, amongst trollies of patients that the nursing staff are dealing compassionately and efficiently in very difficult circumstances and with a lack of space and cubicles. Despite a short time in the corridor, the treatment of my colleague, from the time he arrived to the time he departed later that day, he was treated with professionalism and care. He was after a while taken into a cubicle in Purple suite and made to feel comfortable. Grateful thanks to the entire team on the day shift last Friday

Dear Susan, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your – and your colleague’s – experience of the ED at Wexham Park Hospital. It is reassuring to know that patients can see past the pressures the teams face and are able to observe that – despite the challenges – compassionate care is still being delivered as it should be at Frimley Health. I will of course share your feedback with the team and I know they will appreciate receiving it. I hope you colleague is making a good recovery. Review titled Brilliant Plastic Surgery Department & Staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Jatinder - Posted on 19 February 2023
I slit my hand open very badly, I was seen by a young egyptian Plastic Surgeon, he was amazing, very professional, caring, kind and most of all maticulous when treating me, which made an enormous difference, on my follow up appointment as the work he did on my hand saved the skin, avoiding having to loose the skin and go through surgery. I am very grateful for the care I received. Also on my follow up appointment a lovely man and women plastic surgeon were amazing and very helpful being gentle and giving me clear care instructions and information. Thank you kindly to all 3 for their dedication care and attention, I am forever grateful. Kind Regards Jatinder

Review titled Excellent care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Bulwerboy - Posted on 08 January 2023
Despite a large number of people waitin in A & E I was triaged within 45 minutes of arrival. I was moved to a trolley in a corridor and later to acubicle. My night there was far from pleasant but the care given by the staff was amazing considering the huge workload they had. The next night I was moved to a bed in AAU and the following night to a bed in the short stay medical ward where I spent 6 days. Once aagain, the care I received from the nursies and doctors was exemplary. The ward was amazing and far better than any other ward I have ever been on. Congratulations to all concerned.
