Review titled Friendly and helpful
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anne S - Posted on 05 August 2023
I had cataract surgery August 2023. Every member of staff went out of their way to welcome me to Ward 1 and put me at ease. The nursing staff, theatre staff and the staff in the recovery room were all so friendly and professional. I felt very confident that I was having the best treatment. I live in Otley and it was good to be able to use a local facility. No worries now about having my second cataract removed!

Wharfedale is a very nice hospital to be treated by, however since my appointment in August to discuss my ongoing treatment I have not heard from them which is a concern as my condition has deteriorated, this is despite writing to the surgeon myself and my doctors surgery writing to the consultant !!!

Fantastic building and great potential . Sadly receptionist felt she could diagnose me in the waiting room and dismissed my concerns when I felt I needed to be see . 111 backed me up but they turned me away. “Nurse too busy “ . Wow bet she’s glad she’s not a midwife .

Review titled Fantastic NHS treatment
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Having cut my big toe very badly, I went to the Minor Injuries clinic at Wharfedale. Explaining that it was bleeding very profusely, I was taken straight through to a room where two really professional and friendly members of the nursing team took quick action to stop the bleeding, clean me up, give me a tetanus jab and sew the wound up. In these times of NHS criticism, I want to fully emphasise that I couldn't have asked for better treatment than these two ladies gave. I'm only sorry that I can't name them here (though one had driven from Hull to Otley for her shift - that's dedication indeed!

Called in to the Urgent Treatment Centre with a painful infected toe on Wednesday 31 May, having paid for plenty of parking time and fully expecting a long wait. It was busy, but I was home within an hour, fully sorted. All the staff I saw were excellent - professional, friendly and very efficient - simply couldn’t have been a better experience. Thanks very much!

Review titled Wonderful Care
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Cynthia - Posted on 10 March 2024
As American spending time in beautiful Yorkshire, I had a minor 'spill' during a 'ramble.' Result: snapped thumb diagnosed as gamekeepers/(preferred) skiiers thumb. Had heard of Nhs lacking personnel & timely treatment. Staff overworked, underpaid. Did not want to be a burden on system. However, decided condition should be evaluated, and soon. The entire staff was sympathetic and caring. Yes, I was there for 6+ hours but I received adequate attention & care. I cannot say enough about every employee who I met: reception, physician, nurse, x-ray tech.... I am fortunate to live in an area in the us which offers world renowned healthcare: Boston, Ma. I have never been treated better at those hospitals, by their staffs. Everyone who works at the NHS and in particular Wharfdale uc deserves praise, support and a liveable wage!!

I hate having a mammogram, but know it needs to be done. The staff are very kind and empathetic and get it done as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Review titled Disappointed

Whenever we’ve used the minor injuries at Otley before it’s been fantastic, however our last visit the staff seemed extremely rude and passive aggressive. We were seen really quickly as it was quiet, which is great, but there was zero bedside manner.

Review titled Minor Injuries Unit - Rude Staff
Rated 2 stars out of 5

As we live in North Leeds, Wharfedale Minor Injuries is the quickest place to go to, after our latest experience I don't think I will be bothering again. The 2 staff on duty were very rude, my son had a broken finger and was told to go to a pharmacy! They said they were closed to new patients and closing at 6. There was no information stating this on websites/notice board etc. I said we would travel over to St George's to be seen there. The man on reception said "well good luck with that as they are the same as us - full and closed" It's not surprising the NHS is in the mess it is, with unhelpful staff and a service that isn't run properly as it is contracted to run. I work for the NHS and I know how hard it is for everyone working, but there is no need for rudeness and a nasty attitude. After a couple of phone calls when I was sat in the car, we went over to St Georges, where we were seen and, on our way home within the hour. The staff were lovely as well.
