  1. Review titled Emergency Radiology Department

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 July 2024

I recently had to visit accident and emergency for a Computed Tomography scan and having had such a negative experience with every other department, radiology was incredible. I was seen immediately and every single person I dealt with was so kind and caring and made sure I was comfortable with everything that was going to happen during the procedure. I couldn't get over how genuinely nice and interested every member of staff was. A stark contrast to the accident and emergency department and Ward 1b staff.

  2. Review titled Awful Children's A&E

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Barry - Posted on 20 June 2024

I really can't express how poor the Whiston children's A&E department is. After being quickly triaged, and sent for an X-ray, things went down hill very quickly. Sat there for nearly four hours. Our 9 year old daughter was in lots of pain in a wheel chair. No one saw us. The nurse simply started that other children who were more poorly were there. Waiting times were allegedly 5.5 hours (not when we arrived). There were kids with whooping cough in the waiting area. We asked if a doctor could call us with the results. They said it might happen. It didn't. They simply didn't care. I'm sure they were pleased that we walked out at 9pm as it was less work for them. I'm appalled that Whiston are causing unnecessary pain and suffering to children.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Jamie-Lee Horrocks - Posted on 16 May 2024

I received phenomenal care from the midwives, student midwives, theatre staff and surgeons at whiston hospital. I had my beautiful baby girl at whiston, it was an unplanned c section but everyone was soooo lovely and caring. Made me at such ease even though I was very stressed and worried about the procedure! I cant express my gratitude to all staff involved, who helped me have such a fabulous experience giving birth!

  5. Review titled nobody is answering the telephone

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Nicky Cymru - Posted on 06 May 2024

I have tried several times to telephone 01514301520 today but the phone rings and rings without anyone answering it. Then someone picks up and immediately plonks the phone down, and when I ring again I get the engaged tone. I need to check whether my friend (an elderly and vulnerable lady) is on the burns ward, so that I can arrange to visit her. She doesn't have a mobile phone.

I recently spent 3 nights on 3e Ortho following a full knee replacement. The care and compassion given by all staff from the catering cleaning nurses doctors and consultant was remarkable. I had a bit of a rough time following surgery but nothing was to much trouble. Thankyou everyone for making my stay so comfortable.

  7. Review titled Outstanding all round

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jon - Posted on 21 May 2024

I went in for a partial knee replacement last week and am recovering well at home. The care and attention I received whilst in whiston hospital ward 3e was outstanding from start to finish. All the team were professional, caring and highly motivated (they know who they are but can't name them on here, but thank you all). I've not been a hospital in patient for over 40 years, so was slightly worried out going in but they all made me feel relaxed and confident. Everything was clearly explained and detailed, any worries I had were soon answered. Thanks again to everyone on eard 3e who contributed to looking after me, keep up the amazing work that you do.

  8. Review titled Exceptional

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My wife had a bad hand injury that required urgent surgery and lot's of aftercare appointments. Every single member of staff that we encountered, from greeters to consultants, at Whiston hospital was incredibly polite, caring and professional. The surgery team were extremely professional and understanding of our situation. The consultant in particular had exceptional bedside manner. The dressing clinic and physiotherapists have all been very understanding of my wife's anxiety and have tailored their care to suit her best. We feel incredibly well looked after. Thank you so much.

  9. Review titled Wow

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Robert - Posted on 06 May 2024

A&E was empty tonight, no ambulance after ambulance and not one patient on a trolley in any corridor. Front and back of department was very quiet. Yet the waiting time was still 13 hours. Blood test results weren't getting picked up by a doctor for over 5 hours after coming back from the lab. Awful service. They push ECG on you when you don't need one just to fill the space so on paper it looks like they've done everything super quick. Lies

Good morning Robert, thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent attendance in ED. We are sorry that you have had a negative experience when you attended recently. Patients are assessed for their clinical urgency on arrival and treated in order clinical priority. There are many areas in ED that are not visible where our sickest patients are treated. If you would like to contact patientexperienceandedi@sthk.nhs.uk providing your full details, we will be able to look into this for you and provide you with the rationales for the tests and treatment you have received. We are hoping you feel better soon.

  10. Review titled Holbrook Unit

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Peter Warwick - Posted on 07 April 2024

I took my aged mother to the unit and she received the most caring and sympathetic attention from the nurses imaginable. Likewise, the nursing staff were attentive, caring and wholly aware of the stress those accompanying patients can be under and were magnificent in supporting me and others. There would never me any criticism of the NHS if everyone's experience was like this. Quite the opposite. My thanks to everyone in the Holbrook Unit.
