  1. Review titled Too Many staff don't have a clue

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 August 2022

Attended for an appointment. Went to reception and asked for directions and was sent to Channel day at the other end of the hospital. So i preceded to channel day and Spoke to a member of staff there and was asked to sit down. After 25 minutes waiting ( there was nobody else waiting) I enquired again at day reception and spoke to a different person who told me I was in the wrong place and she had no idea where I was meant to be other than 'down the road' she seemed irritated that I was not happy at having my time wasted by her colleagues. Apparently this was my fault. So I walked WHH grounds until I found a possible clue as to where I was meant to be going...... As a result I was late for my appointment (I was initially 20 mins early...). I'd like to thank the main building reception and channel staff for wasting my time as they were extremely efficient at this.

  2. Review titled Medical history discussed in front of everyone

by Concerned for thr future - Posted on 19 August 2022

I went to the hospital by ambulance because my bowel was blocked, although this wasn’t confirmed straight away as I had a long wait for an ambulance, and another long wait in a queue to get into the hospital and then another long wait to be seen. What I am angry about is the acceptance that we have no privacy and all our medical history is discussed in front of everyone. And I was told loudly I had an eight hour wait to see a doctor !!!While waiting I felt really sick my wife said excuse me one of the nurses she was shouted down to wait - she continued to tell the nurse that I was about to be sick, but the nurse said you will have to wait I’m busy in a very abrupt manner. My wife said to me you will have to be sick on the floor and so I was. After I was sick - I won’t go into detail - they realised the urgency of my condition and I had to have a tube put down my throat there in the corridor with everyone listening to all the gory noises- I was asked about bowel movements. And had to explain with an audience that I have a stoma. Not ashamed but why should I have to?? I never thought this day would come - what about patients confidentiality, or worse what might happen to people waiting for an ambulance or in a corridor. I really don’t think A&E could get any worse, it appears to be at rock bottom.

  3. Review titled Good experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Stephanie - Posted on 28 December 2022

I became suddenly ill in July 2022 through to October 2022. I had many visits to UTC and every time I attended the treatment I received was beyond adequate. The staff were all very friendly and made me feel at ease every time. Two of the technicians in particular were always very friendly, helpful and made me feel like I was in good care. The doctors were all very good and knowledgeable and dealt with the issue every time. My overall experience has been very positive and I cannot thank the staff enough for the care that I received.

My wife had a serious seizure (like heart attack). She was promptly and efficiently treated and transported to the hospital where she received priority care. Now recovering well.

  5. Review titled I hope I never have to return.

Rated 1 star out of 5

Waiting time is horrendous. Doctor not very helpful and certainly didn't appreciate my diagnosis being discussed in the waiting room with people listening. I pray I never have to go there again.

  6. Review titled Excellent

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Ronald Costin - Posted on 22 July 2022

I had to attend A&E on Thursday 21st July with an irregular heart beat and found all staff from “checking in” all the way to and including doctors to be very efficient and understanding. Despite as usual they were under pressure and very professional I was very appreciative and want to name names but not allowed to in this review. So many many thanks to you all.

I am disgusted the way my father was treated he came in by ambulance with breathing difficulties and then was left in a&e for hours before getting seen then to be told he had a minor heart attack then was taken in to a room for fluids after an hour they come looking for him saying they have been looking for but it was them who put him there finally he was found a bed the cleanness was disgusting they literally remove one patient from a cubicle where there was a used pee bottle and tissue and other mess the patient had even pee on the floor they literally picked things up off the floor then put another party straight in I have been here now for 5 days and have not seen one cleaner my dad is a very proud man and when he needs the bed pan is told to wait there’s only some time you can wait my sister and I have to do it ourself I could go on and on
