  1. Review titled Lack of care compassion & stimulation

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Mrs Tracey Iles - Posted on 11 January 2024

My mother was transferred to king's c2 from where she'd had been good care on kennington. There are 8 people to a bay all left to their own devices. There only ever seems to be one person doing anything at one given time. There is nobody interacting with paitents unless they have relatives with them. I saw people going without food & drink because nobody would feed them, its just dumped on the table. My mother has a new infection which I needed to tell them about because despite blood tests showing increased infection markers they had not noticed that her leg was purple with infection until I pointed it out. She is becomimg increasingly depressed & is left to sleep in a chair day & night. There is not even a radio to listen too let alone a tv. The care is appalling!!!

I am so sorry to read about the current care your Mother is receiving. I completely understand your worries and frustrations. This is not the sort of way I would want any of my loved ones to be treated. Please could you contact my team at ekhuft.patientvoice@nhs.net as soon as possible so we can try to assist you and your Mother and improve her circumstances. I have notified senior staff as well regarding the issues you have raised. I look forward to hearing from you.

  2. Review titled Sent around the block again

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 09 December 2023

Twice I have been to this hospital. Twice I have had the exact same experience. Incompetent rude reception staff that can barely be bothered to respond. Simple treatment and diagnosis required yet same scenario of being sent from reception to eye clinic repeatedly with no progress or anyone seemingly wanting to add any useful information. Currently stood with my wife and daughter in a busy A and E as there are no seats! At least we didn't have to do four laps of the parking lot in a queue to find a spot today! Avoid if possible at all costs.

Thank you for sending us your feedback. I am so sorry to read that you have had such bad experiences at the William Harvey Hospital. One time is bad enough but two is terrible and I appreciate the frustration and annoyance this would create. Staff despite pressures should be kind and caring to our patients at all times and I am so sad that this is not what you have experienced. Seats are not always available unfortunately due to sheer numbers of people who attend our A&E sometimes, but good attitude, helpfulness and clear correct information should be the least we can offer. If you would like to discuss your experience further with the Patient Voice & Involvement Team please contact us via our Email address which is ekhuft.patientvoice@nhs.net

  3. Review titled A shambles

Rated 1 star out of 5

This hospital really is terrible. All the staff walking around happy and joking and then you find out you've waited for 2 hours for nothing because no one bothered to book you in. When you dare to complain you get threatened with security and asked to leave. Most people working in this hospital do not care about you at all and are quite happy to ignore you all day despite walking past you every 10 or 20 minutes. It's an utter disgrace and quite honestly they should close it and start again with staff who are able to do their job and not just smile at you and say sorry I didn't do what I was payed for. I am so angry at this place and the majority of the staff that I wll never step foot in their again.

I'm so sorry. This is not the lasting impression we want our patients and visitors to be left with. I completely appreciate that if you have no faith or trust due to your previous experiences you would not want to talk to someone necessarily who works for the organisation that as you already said has made you feel so angry but our team would be keen to talk to you if you would be willing. 4. Review titled Kind, efficient and professional staff.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Beverly - Posted on 13 December 2023

I attended the A and E department having injured my wrist. I was seen by a lovely nurse who assessed my condition and referred me for x Ray. Within a two hour period I had seen the same nurse three times, who followed through my case, had two x rays- before and after a plaster cast had been applied. I was given a treatment plan and since being home have received daily updates regarding my surgery. The two nurses in department D were thoroughly professional, kind, efficient and patient, despite the number of waiting patients. I have enormous admiration for them and huge thanks for their kindness to me.

  5. Review titled Terrible

Rated 1 star out of 5

They don't know what they are doing, patients don't matter to them. The staff attitude is undescribable, they think they have godlike status, one is not allowed to make questions, their answers are vague and given in a very irritated way. Appalling to say the least.

  7. Review titled Great staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Nigel Hutchinson - Posted on 20 December 2023

I had blood tests, ecg and an x-ray during my stay having been taken by ambulance from a pre-assessment clinic elsewhere. Despite being very busy, all the staff were very conscientious and caring which alleviated my concerns in a sudden unexpected situation. My wife and I were even offered a hot drink and sandwiches at midnight by delightful ladies with a trolley. A big thank you to everyone and Happy Christmas!

  8. Review titled Very poor miscarriage care

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 December 2023

There are a number of things wrong with this hospital, but the care for going through a miscarriage was not good at all. A miscarriage is a tough time for anyone and I hope no one has to go through the experiences we had at William Harvey. Left my email and very happy to discuss with the hospital.

  10. Review titled Terrible experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 November 2023

Where do you start with this horrendous place. Took my 84 year old mum to A and E as she had pain, started well then went downhill in an almost comedic way. Ended up in something called majors assessments and it was like a horror show. 8 hours , the Doctors have a serious god complex and the nurses could not give a monkeys , literally like robots . Zero communication, no humanity especially towards the older people , one poor 88 year old man was dumped on a wheelchair in the middle of the room for hours, begging to be taken to the toilet , not one of the nurses was interested . People in terrible state being wheeled in beds around the hospital by laughing uncaring people . So much for the caring angels I’ve heard about , from what I saw it’s the comlete opposite. Truly terrifying experience , read and heard stories about the NHS and now I’ve seen it , they may well be under staffed but the staff I saw were like uncaring robots. I really hope I don’t have to repeat this experience it was honestly very scary .
