  1. Review titled First class treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Cecilia Willis - Posted on 01 April 2024

I have undergone two surgical procedures at the Woodlands hospital, a knee replacement last year, and a reverse polarity shoulder replacement this February. The level of care and attention has been truly superb, from the receptionists, the pre-op visits, the most excellent surgical team, the nursing staff, and finally, the physiotherapists. The wards are so clean, and the food is wonderful. Well done Woodlands hospital!

  3. Review titled First class service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mark Beddoe - Posted on 23 January 2024

I recently had a full Hip replacement on the NHS at Woodland Hospital. The whole process fro start to finish was of the highest standard. From diagnosis of condition and communication of the procedure to take place I was kept fully informed. Every member of staff I came into contact with and there were many were professional, caring and dedicated. Nothing was to much trouble. Staff including administration, pre-operative care, Surgical, post-operative care and support staff including providers of Lunch etc were all fully committed to my well being. I found the staff very supportive of each other and they all kept me informed all the way through my stay, any questions were answered and nothing was to much trouble. This all went to make my stay as stress free as possible. Thankyou all very much Mark Beddoe

All the team performed a brilliant operation on my left knee. I am no longer in pain and the limp has gone. I have recovered well, plenty of exercising, keeping flexible. Many thanks to the nursing staff and physiotherapists too. Wonderful hospital and staff, thank you very much.

  7. Review titled Rude receptionists - shock

Rated 1 star out of 5

They should train their receptionists / appointment bookers on basic manners especially considering they're speaking to people forking out hundreds of pounds to use their services. I was spoken to as if I was asking the lady for a favor at great personal expense to book me in, not that ill be spending £1000s with them on procedures. I advise they return to their old GP surgery receptionist jobs as that's where it feels they've gotten them from. Ill be finding an alternative provider and this receptionist cost this hospital my business.

  8. Review titled Mixed Experience

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 25 January 2024

My experience so far has been a little but of a mixed bag. My initial consultation wasn't handled with much grace. Firstly, I was asked to explain why I was there which, after waiting many months following a referral, made me feel like the person in front of me had zero idea why I was sitting there. I started to explain my symptoms (which had changed/evolved/gotten worse over the past 2 years) to be spoken over each time and not allowed to finish. I wasn't able to describe what I had been going through in enough detail - as such, I came away from the consultation very upset. I then waited for an appointment from Radiology. After a number of weeks of not receiving anything, I reached out by phone to check if the appointment for a scan had been requested. They checked my file and told me that the consultant hadn't made the request. After a bit of back-and-forth they confirmed that it had been missed. The appointment was then booked in. Telephone staff and Reception staff have been consistently polite and can't fault them. The Radiologist was friendly and professional - she advised that I made a follow up appointment with my consultant on the way out as the results will have been reviewed by them that evening (fantastic i thought!). Unfortunately, the earliest follow up appointment available was 5 months away! I took this and went home very concerned. The day of the follow up arrived and I received a phone call from my consultant 2 hours before my face-to-face appointment - this in itself was enough to send me into panic - firstly, this gave an impression of urgency, like they had found something really bad on my results. Secondly, I wasn't expecting the call, I wasn't in the correct mindset meant i didn't get answers to the questions I had. I understand they had a few minutes in-between appointments and may have had good intentions but they should bare in mind that some people need to 'prepare themselves' so-to-speak. I then waited for a date for a diagnostic laparoscopy. Worried about the letter 'going walkies', I asked to be contacted by email. While on holiday many months later (not having a date yet), I emailed to get an update and was told the letters were sent in the post and that my pre-op was that afternoon (I was on the other side of the world, plus the letter was dated only 2 days prior to the pre-op so 99% sure I wouldn't have received it in time anyway). Rearranged pre-op, which all went smoothly - wonderful staff. The day of my procedure went well - all staff I spoke to were fantastic. I even internally giggled walking into the theatre in my compression socks as it was like entering a film set. Post-op care was great, very caring people. Unfortunately, I didn't gain a diagnosis (not their fault of course) so was told to go back to my GP (starting from the beginning for the 3rd time). I have since been referred back to Woodlands...

  9. Review titled Poor practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

The nursing staff and admin staff were exemplary, they could not have been better, they were very professional, caring and dedicated, as one would expect. Sadly the consultant was brusque, impatient, hurried and rude.

  10. Review titled Pathetic and unprofessional attitude of Spinal surgeon

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 11 July 2023

After a long wait I was reviewed by spinal surgeon who seemed to be quite in a hurry. He did not introduce himself what to speak of greeting a patient in a decent way. He did not bother to examine me which can be checked from his notes, He just said few words quickly and that’s it. I had to ask him questions even about warning symptoms and Physiotherapy etc .He did not even gave me a pain killer. My GP had advised me better than a specialist like him. I think he must have assigned me just 10 minutes. Extremely disappointed. I hope my concerns would be addressed as I am very upset on this treatment.
