  1. Review titled Dietetic assessment - bromley healthcare

    by thubanpb55 - Posted on 31 October 2023

Appointment was 60 minutes late and felt very rushed. Explained all the basic information about coeliac disease (which i already knew having been diagnosed 4 months earlier). When asked about my height and weight - told I was a bit overweight and to watch my fat and sugar content. So not only was I to cut out gluten from my diet but also watch my weight. When the written report came through it said I was a healthy weight. And mentioned dates when I was only holiday. Totally misleading information given.

  2. Review titled No qualified Health Visitor for child's review

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 August 2023

Why are children's developmental reviews no longer being conducted by Health Visitors? Why are the NHS outsourcing Health Visiting to a company who cannot provide enough Health Visitors? My child's review was conducted by a nursery nurse (who was lovely but that is beside the point). I understand a nursery nurse will have valuable experience of child behaviour but they are not qualified nurses and in my experience more inclined to offer advice based on their own experience and opinions, rather than evidence based practice. The nursery nurse we saw had no knowledge of the nutritional content of breastfeeding. I would expect a qualified Health Visitor to know this. The expertise of qualified Nurse Health Visitors has been replaced by the tick box form! Technocrats and bureaucrats are replacing qualified healthcare professionals.

  3. Review titled Long covid support

    by Service user1 - Posted on 14 August 2023

After waiting 7 months for a long covid assessment I was given an appointment at 4:00pm yesterday. I was very anxious about the call as I suffer anxiety as well as long covid and POTS. I didn't receive a call at all. I did have a missed call at 5:34pm from a no caller ID that rang for 7 seconds! As soon as I answered it it went dead. My home phone rang again for 5 seconds and went dead as soon as I answered it. I don't sit by the phone all day so it takes me time to get to the phones especially as I have mobility issues and breathlessness. I am really disappointing that no one rang me to tell me they couldn't keep my appointment. I expect better from a NHS service.

  5. Review titled Access to school nurses for alternate school provisions

by Hobs - Posted on 20 July 2023

Since October 2020 my son has been in an alternative school provision. He has had no contact with a school nurse or any alternative since then. I have had to do all the health questions and talks that would normally be given by a school nurse. What I could do with is some information on what to discuss and when to discuss it. Also when I should be booking for immunisation and information on what they are so I can explain to my son?

  6. Review titled Excellent hospital at home service

by EllyE - Posted on 08 August 2023

My little boy had to go into hospital in March for bronchiolitis and in June for RSV. Both times had hospital at home afterward and they were fantastic - always reassured us, meant we didn't have to go back to hospital and out in extra time to see us when baby started to refuse liquids at one stage. I would highly recommend and hope service can be continued, as well as expanded to as many people as possible.

  7. Review titled My sons speech and language therapy

by Yam - Posted on 31 May 2023

I asked my sons speech and language therapist to reassess his speech and language needs as I feel he is not getting adequate therapy sessions. Their response was just to let you know the outcome will be exactly the same as the current recommendations already in place. I found this unbelievable, how do they know this when they haven't completed the reassessment. Although my son can use language, he is classed as non verbal by the professionals, he is Autistic. The recommendations at present for SALT is 9 session per year and these 9 sessions allocated include time for report writing, preparation, documentations, observations of my son and training the staff who teach him daily. I know children who are much more verbal than my son and are getting many more sessions per year- I find this is absolutely unbelievable. Must getting the professionals to send the support they need, always involve making a complaint, going to tribunal or going to the ombudsman’s. Our lives are already very difficult trying to care for our children with a SEND, why give us more unnecessary pressures and strains to deal with.

  8. Review titled Lack of care

    by bargainwe53 - Posted on 29 March 2023

Complete lack of care from the health system I have FND and I get relapses. I was admitted to hospital and the physio referred me to community neuro physio but they rejected the referral without even informing me. The GP did a referral to the Rapid Access Therapy Team - 5 weeks later I still have not heard anything from them either.....talk about fend for yourself.

  9. Review titled Made each day a little brighter for my mum

by Bromley cancer story - Posted on 15 June 2023

Mum passed away peacefully in front of family at home recently, after her 4-year ovarian cancer battle. She was under the care of some wonderful NHS teams. Her GP surgery for initial diagnosis and support and care throughout, the Guy's Cancer Centre team in SE1 for her cancer treatment care, with surgical care at St. Thomas's Hospital. She had over 22 sessions of chemotherapy and maintenance medications. In the 48 months of her care, we were very grateful for the NHS, as they provided the best care we possibly ask for. The GP helped her be referred to St. Christopher's Hospice for end-of-life care, and along with daily visits from the wonderful Bromley Healthcare team for injections, we helped manage her symptoms and to help her stay as active and mobile as we could. The day a sleek black wheelchair arrived she was very impressed and in turn, it led to a few memorable shopping trips to the local garden centre to stock up summer plants for the garden! Cancer is a nasty master indeed and she did feel very angry that it had robbed her of time with family and to do things in her beloved garden and sewing. She hated the way she was dying but had dignity and courage until the very end. As a family, we are in awe of all the wonderful and passionate people that came into Mum's life and made each day a little brighter for her.
