Credit where credit is due. I had to ring 111 as my child was unwell this evening. Within half an hour, the OOH GP phoned me back and invited us in for an appt straight away. Very thorough and reassuring throughout. Within 2 hours, we had been triaged, assessed and prescribed antibiotics for our son. Thank you very much for your time.

Review titled Avoid at all costs

First I get the doctor calling me asking me ''how can I help'' after I was referred via 111 so he would've had all of my details from my assessment without having to be asked. He wanted me to travel 18 miles all the way to Blackburn on a bus / train on a Sunday evening with my needs and what I was suffering. I requested a home visit and he had the audacity to inform me ''we don't attend 33 year olds'' so I sincerely hope when he's suffering in future and requires a home visit by a doctor he doesn't get one and suffers more than me. It would've taken a 20 minute drive to me compared to 2 hours on a bus. After he told me they don't attend to 33 year olds I said ''well that just sums the NHS up'' at this point he hung up on me. I called the number back hoping to get through to him but believe it or not, I got through to a woman who I asked which doctor was giving me advice and hung up on me, she said we can't give that detail out and i'm like ''what?'' a doctor has enagaged with me, given me advice, asked me to go and attend and i'm not entitled to know which doctor i've spoken too and has hung up on me?! I'm sure it's a legal requirement if a patient wishes to know which health professional they've enagaged with, the name must be disclosed.
