Review titled Phlebotomy
by Anonymous - Posted on 01 October 2024
Today I took my disabled mother to Gravesend for a blood test which she has had in the past. She was told today that because she lives in Higham she cannot have her blood taken there and needs to go to Medway Hospital. I find this a bit odd, she was/is a patient at Darent Valley Hospital, does this mean any further treatment she might need will be at DVH but I have to take her to Medway Maritime for blood tests?. Her address falls into the Gravesham Borough Council area too. I understand this is a recent change, maybe you could put up a sign in the Phlebotomy waiting area explaining this? As after talking to a couple if her neighbours won't be the only one in this in this situation. Thank you.

This is a great surgery. I attended today due to a severe sinus infection. the receptionist was lovely and called me through. I saw the doctor, he prescribed medication and rest. on the way out the receptionist booked me a follow-up appointment. thanks so much Highstreet surgery!

Review titled Phlebotomy

Attended the phlebotomy department today for gp requested blood tests. The lady doing the tests had difficulty finding a vein suitable and took 3 attempts to do so. She asked if i had had sufficient fluids and i answered that i had drunk about 1.5 litres. She then told me that was insufficent and that adults need to drink at least 15 litres of fluid a day. I am amazed at this comment as i believe that this advice could be considered as very dangerous. Advice on the NHS website states 6-8 glasses a day. I would be grateful if staff could be updated on what current advice is. I believe that if a person was to drink 15l of fluid they could become very ill.
