  1. Review titled Very unpleasant experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by David - Posted on 06 August 2022

I received a letter stating that they had tried to contact me by phone to make an appointment with the ophthalmologist: it is not true !!! I never had a miss call or a message. On the letter I am asked to make an appointment, I tried many times there is always a 30 minute wait or more. I then decided to send them an e-mail to make an appointment, thinking it would be easier: I am still waiting for the answer. I then decide to try my luck on a Saturday morning hoping that it will be easier : still 30 minutes of waiting time , I waited 32 minutes. a woman answers me in a very abrupt way, She asks me for my NHS number and tells me that I missed an appointment: it is a total lie, I have never had an appointment with them ever. She gives me an appointment a week later without asking me if it suits me: I am disabled and I have problems getting around. I go to the eye clinic in Hanwell, it’s 9 am there is no one at the reception . a man quickly calls out names. He didn’t introduce himself who is he ? I go into the room he does not listen to me, I want to ask a question, he a puts drops in my eyes without telling me. he forces a kind of round lens on my eyes I can't stand it, eyes are very sensitive and I ask him to stop. he tells me that he can't do anything for me. he is very busy, I don't even have time to ask questions he tells me that I have to go to the hospital. he has no manner he is not friendly , he has no empathy. I left almost in tear, I felt so humiliated. Worst experience from A to Z

  2. Review titled Too far from home and poor admin

Rated 2 stars out of 5

My experience is similar to that of some of the other reviewers. Prior to being transferred by the NHS to Operose, to keep a check on my ocular hypertension, I could travel 3 miles down the road to Kidderminster Hospital and normally have all the checks and see an ophthalmologist with consecutive appointments on the same day. The arrangements for my latest check-up were instigated by me as Operose never contact me first when I am due. Now I have to make a 35-mile round trip to either Droitwich or Worcester. My latest appointment was initially split into three visits, one to Worcester and two to Droitwich, spread over a three-week period. Total distance involved about 105 miles. Fortunately, after the first appointment I was able to rebook the remaining 2 appointments on the same day, although this was further delayed by me because of the heatwave. When I did eventually receive written confirmation in the post it arrived as two separate letters although the appointments were at 14:05 & 14:45 on the same day. I’m lucky enough to have a car but what would they have done if I had no transport of my own? Very expensive using taxis.

  3. Review titled Serious Concerns

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by Paul S - Posted on 07 July 2022

I suffer with glaucoma and my local PCT have transferred my care to Operose Health just before the pandemic. I had one telephone consultation with them in 2020 which obviously achieved nothing. They then invited me to make an appointment in summer 2021 but left an incorrect phone number so that I could not respond. Without making further attempts to contact me they subsequently wrote to my GP saying they were discharging me for not being in touch. I have now been re-referred and had an appointment in a nearby GP surgery this morning. Their waiting room was near impossible to find. They got my name wrong twice in calling me into the clinic. The opthalmogist did not introduce themselves to me or explain what was happening even though it involved painful drops in the eye. They was clearly in a rush to get through the appointment and I had to stop them a number of times to ask for an explanation as to what was happening. They only had portable equipment with them so were not able to perform the crucial field of vision test which I need. The eye test chart was propped against a wall with a chair at the far end of the room. I have zero confidence in my care in their hands.

  4. Review titled Making an appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

Received a message asking me to call Operose to make an appointment, the message was very difficult to establish, struggled to get the telephone number and could not make out the service provider. Every time I rang I got a recorded message "30 min wait". I waited 33 minutes to make an appointment - this is no way to treat customer. Abysmal service, if you can not supply the service - don't offer it.
