Review titled Listened to and respected
by bryrk - Posted on 27 July 2023
I was given my ADHD diagnosis after an extensive assessment. I felt listened to and respected during my assessment, and I found the psychologist easy to talk to about my struggles. Being able to talk about my next steps after diagnosis was something that I wasn't expecting but am extremely grateful for as I feel that many places would simply give you the diagnosis and leave you to it.

Review titled Communication issues

Not good when told to wait until doctors for important decisions and a week of waiting is discouraging because the ward environment makes me depressed.

Review titled Now I have no where else to go to get help and support.
by Dora2506 - Posted on 11 August 2023
Very disappointed. Have been struggling with my mental health for many years and finally took the courage to be referred. I felt so very unwell and felt like I was drowning. The Consultant Psychiatrist did not listen to how it felt for me. They always wanted their own structure of the mental state examination and gave me no room to express / expand on my thoughts . They often tutted and quietly made negative remarks about me on occasions. I was left feeling embarrassed and anxious and it prevented me opening up further about my suicidal feelings for fear of judgement. I feel as if my Voice was not heard and there was no unconditional positive regard . I have now disengaged as a patient and feel incredibly disappointed that now I have no where else to go to get help and support.

Review titled Good support from tissue viability nurse
by dsk1213 - Posted on 23 May 2023
One of my residents has been suffering from a pressure sore on right ankle and she was referred to TVN as per protocol. We got a good response from their side and the resident got the correct treatment and the wound started to heal. And in all aspect the TVN was so good and she is having sufficient knowledge about each interventions.

Review titled We will be forever grateful for the wonderful care
by Bigbird2 - Posted on 05 May 2023
Our daughter has Bipolar Disorder and last month she had a relapse. She was referred to the Nottinghamshire South Crisis Team following an assessment from the Mental Health Team based at Queens Medical Centre. I cannot praise enough the support we have received from every single member of the team. They are a fantastic example of NHS care at its best. Previous episodes have taken many months to recover from and she has lost both her employment and accommodation, adding to the impact on her long term health. The team put our daughter at the centre of her care and used her relapse plan in considering treatment. They listened and responded immediately to her symptoms and concerns. Her medication was altered regularly to offer her the best therapeutic result. They gave professional and caring support both at home visits and on their helpline. She went back to work this week on a phased return and although she is not fully recovered we know because of the great care she received initially from the Nottinghamshire South Crisis Team, she is well underway to recovery. The NHS seems to be under constant attack at the moment and negative stories seem to be the norm. Our experience as a family has been quite the opposite and we will be forever grateful for the wonderful care given by the team.

Dear Bigbird2 Thank you for your feedback regarding the County South Crisis Team, it is great that others will be able to read about the fantastic and tireless work that this team provides and the progress your daughter has made with their support. It’s nice to hear that your daughter is now in a position of returning to work and I hope she continues to progress with her recovery. I will ensure that the team are made aware of this kind review. Thank you again and I wish all the best for your daughter and family. Michael Taylor Service Manager

Review titled An extremely lengthy and unnecessary delay
by branpn49 - Posted on 15 June 2023
After waiting until the pandemic had subsided we were shocked to find out that the waiting list for the autism assessment we had been planning for our (now) adult son was 15-18 months. We requested the referral, the GP agreed that it was necessary our son filled out the form that was sent by NeSS. Our son is unaware of his difficulties as we have supported him to lead a fulfilled life and not be affected by them, therefore he filled out the form to say that he did not have any issues. We submitted the form along with a range of information about the difficulties he has, provided by all those who know him, along with letter explaining that he is not at all self aware. After 15 months we contacted NeSS to enquire as to the progression on the waiting list and were told that his referral had been rejected but the letter had never been forwarded explaining this to us, presumably the fault of the GP, although I don't understand why we weren't sent a letter directly from NeSS. We requested a re-referral, which has now been accepted, however the wait time has now increased to 3 years plus. This means that our son (who very much needs this diagnosis) will have been on a waiting list for almost five years by the time he reaches the top of the list, and that's if the wait time is accurate. If we include the time we waited for the pandemic to subside as we were asked to avoid anything except urgent enquiries, then it is almost six. Six years of his life (and ours) where he is not receiving proper support and guidance and we really need this.

Thankyou for your feedback about your experience. We do take all feedback seriously and use this to improve the services we provide. I can only apologise that you did not receive a copy of the letter. If you can email me at NeSS@nottshc.nhs.uk with your son's details, we will look into why this happened and provide you with an explanation if possible. Sadly, the waiting time for assessments nationally are problematic. We have experienced an unprecedented number of referrals and whilst I understand that this does not help your son, we are, as a result, undertaking a service review which will hopefully result in greater resources and lower waiting times. If you would like to discuss this further I would be more than happy to speak with you, so please get in touch at the email address above.

Review titled Refused access to a service
by Thanks4nothing - Posted on 30 March 2023
My GP referred me to a local mental health team, following a consultation. The referral was rejected because the referral team felt there was no role for Mental Health secondary services at this time. According to the NHS’s own website, secondary care includes mental health services - this is non-specific, and leads me to assume that secondary care includes all mental health services. If this is assumption is incorrect, surely the NHS website needs to be changed to describe which elements of mental health care are part of secondary care. As I am experiencing a crisis in relation to my mental health, I do not understand why my referral was rejected and getting a letter stating this is demoralising, confusing and insensitive.

Thank you for taking the time to post your views. I am not able to answer your queries directly as do not know your name or details from the information in this post. We do not hold responsibility for the NHS website but secondary care is only a part of mental health service provision with other options now available in local communities via primary care. If the decision we have made is not the correct one then your GP can make a re-referral if they feel this is needed. Alternatively, if you would like us to look into this decision and advise on a course of action you can call the South Team Manager Helen Taff on 0115 844 0525 In addition if you are in a crisis relating to your mental health you can call Nottingham Crisis Team on 0808 1963779. Thank you for the feedback about the letter being copied to yourself. I am sorry that you found this unhelpful and dismissive – this was not our intention. We are encouraged to copy letters to patients and the letter template has been in use for some time. However we are able to review the wording of the letter generally and/or in your case specifically if you would like to get in touch to discuss this with us on the number above. I hope this will be of some assistance and am sorry once again for the experience you have described.

Review titled Poor organisation
by sagittazm56 - Posted on 08 June 2023
I’ll make this as short as possible and straight to the point. I was referred to FP by my GP back in November last year and spoke with a lovely member of staff. After the 2nd conversation with them over a 2 week period, they unexpectedly left FP but advised a new advisor would be in contact in the coming days/weeks. 3 months later, and nobody called or contacted me about what was happening so I tracked down (3 long winded calls, as nobody knew who I was or not heard of the previous staff member.) Anyway, finally the manger apologised but didn’t seem to bothered that I’d been ignored for 3 months and blamed lack of funding for there being no contact. So now the manager paid me a home visit on 2 occasions and updated my cv very basically ‘address’. They promised me a call to talk about further support trying to find suitable work on text almost a month ago. I’ve heard nothing since. To say this has been a waste of time would be a understatement

I am really sorry to hear about your experience with the service and would like to assure you that we are putting things in place so that this kind of situation does not arise with any of our service users in future. Review titled Mental Health Care Service - Community Care Support
by Harry23 - Posted on 06 March 2023
I am a vulnerable adult with complex needs and receive full staff care, but I am also supported by the mental health service. I have had a poor level of service when it comes to the mental health service, where my tablets/medication are left at last minute or no communication at all made by the service to keep me/family updated on my medication at all, especially when they run out. I have to take my medication so I feel better, but often the case this is becoming an issue and area of concern as they will not be delivered in good time to avoid me panicking and causing me anxiety. [Very unhappy with 'Medication']

Review titled Care and support for us and our son!
by statuspb38 - Posted on 01 March 2023
Over the years we have never needed support for our son but 2 years ago his mental health declined and we needed some help. The ICATT North team have been brilliant throughout and have always been very helpful and approachable and are always available to talk to us when we need some support. We don't know what we would have done without them over the last two years - they have been an excellent service and have always been here for all three of us. We feel that ICATT listened to us and understood how we were feeling at a very stressful time and feel they all not only care about our son but his family too.
