I had a very positive experience at my appointment at the memory clinic. I was treated with kindness, compassion and listened to. It was very helpful and informative. I was very happy with all aspects of the appointment.

I am profoundly disappointed and frustrated by the lack of professionalism displayed by the recruitment team at Oxford Health NHS Trust. Despite my wife successfully passing the interview and receiving a conditional offer letter, their communication has been utterly lacking. We diligently sent all required documents via email, but there has been no acknowledgment of receipt, let alone any progress updates. Despite numerous attempts to follow up, we've been met with radio silence. It's disheartening, especially considering the promising opportunities elsewhere that we turned down in favor of this position. My wife, who secured roles at Oxford JR Hospital and Berkshire NHS, is now left regretting our decision. The one time my wife did manage to connect via phone with someone from the recruitment team, she was met with rudeness and dismissiveness. Subsequent attempts to reach the same individual have been futile, with calls either being ignored or deliberately redirected. It's a stark contrast to the level of professionalism we've come to expect, having lived in the UK for the past decade. It's disappointing that such a reputable institution would fail to demonstrate even basic courtesy and responsibility. All we can do now is hope for the best, but the lack of transparency and communication leaves us feeling uncertain and frustrated about the future.

If you come for treatment here, be alert and aware. Keep yourself emotionally and physically safe at all costs. I had approximately 4 Ketamine sessions with the Oxford Health clinic. In the end the sessions were terminated as it was agreed by the clinician that it was best to stop as the treatments had not had any beneficial effect. I was booked in for a follow up telephone consultation where the consultant and I discussed alternative avenues to investigate. The consultant offered to compose a letter on my behalf expressing to my GP the importance of their help. They also said they’d found new employment but recommended that we keep in touch regarding my progress with my GP. In the months that followed I reached out via email to the consultant. It was often difficult to touch base with them as they was busy with many other responsibilities. As it neared their departure I asked how I would be able to continue our correspondence after they left Oxford and they informed me that they would still have access to their old email address and would be able to respond intermittently. Unfortunately, this did not transpire. I contacted the clinic directly for help. After some persistence, I was able to obtain a copy of my file by doing a freedom of information request. This was important as my file became the only reference I had to help me navigate my steps moving forward now that the consultant had stopped responding to me. I was finally contacted by a different consultant who stated that in absence of the consultant overseeing my follow up, the only option with Oxford clinic moving forward was to re-enrol in the ketamine programme. They also offered to help chase up with my GP regarding the letters sent to them. Grateful for this offer to help with my GP, I asked to speak in person to fully explain the situation to them before they contacted my GP. I received a short response from that same consultant stating that only in-patients are permitted phone conversations with them. They then went on to reiterate the recommendation to re-start ketamine treatment. It was also evident that they had decided to retract their offer to help chase up on my GP stating that my discharge letter should contain all the information my GP needs to help me further. All correspondence ceased after that. It’s disheartening& very disturbing how my queries have been dealt with. The fact that I was consistently offered more ketamine treatments even though it states on my file that it was an ineffective treatment is negligent at worst and willingly ignorant at best. Most egregious is the lack of responsibility by the whole clinic for the fact that my overseeing consultant left with no plan in place to continue the follow up engagement that we’d began. Why didn't the first consultant at least share their patient plan with the clinic and why were the consultants and nurses alike so comfortable in the knowledge that a member of staff hadn't fulfilled their duties to a patient?

Review titled Too many years waiting whilst getting more unwell

The Complex Needs Service does have some promising aspects; in a group, the staff, and I dare say many of us patients too, are more polite and considerate, and it did touch the tip of the iceberg in terms of observing some of my behaviours. But it was then rendered ineffective and practically useless by what I'm told was a policy change that saw me discharged from the service rather than introduced to it. It is the only therapy I have been offered for over a decade, it was approximately a 5 year wait this time - a 6-month course of group therapy, meeting once a week for a few hours. Every consultant who has commented has told me I need more than six months of therapy. And this service was supposed to provide that, with the promise that there would be 3 groups I should try, and the possibility of joining the therapeutic community if things progressed. I think that to trust any aspect of the NHS mental health service I would suggest is not only very difficult, but I dare also venture, unwise.

Review titled Very poor service

I've been under the Adult Mental Health Team in Oxford for about a year now and consequently my mental health has significantly deteriorated. I get no support from the team, I have rung them in crisis a few times and been told the 'team coordinator' will ring me back but they never do. I had a care coordinator who wasn't very good, only stayed a few months and I only saw them three times, and they would only stay for 15 minutes. I have a consultant psychiatrist who I rarely see who I find insensitive and doesn't treat me like a human being. I have called and emailed in desperation for help but they don't reply or get back to you. I find them very uncaring. I understand there are not enough staff and staff retention is very bad but they have totally forgotten how to treat the patients under them. I don't know what the point of the service is as they offer me nothing. I have been asking for help now for months and months but it just goes unheard. No-one calls you back or responds to an email. I have no idea how I am ever going to get any better without any support. I feel really let down by this service. I feel like I'm at my wits end with this team.
