Review titled Constantly a bad experience

Unfortunately I have to agree with other reviews the way they handle confidential information is embarrassing! The way staff have treated myself and my husband on multiple occasions now is quite sad actually, we are unfortunately a disabled household with painful and serious health conditions that require medicines regularly! we always would pay on pre payment certificates untill our health conditions got significantly worse and we were forced to stop working! i am also a full time carer for my disabled child so life is already difficult enough for us. In and out of appointments and on medicines that make us feel poorly! We did not chose to live this way. And shouldn't be treated like this for picking up medicines! Unfortunately its not just the one occasion now! its everytime we go in. We are huffed at and questioned loudly in front of ques of people made to feel embarrassed for picking up medicines to treat our chronic health conditions! It is always busy in there and There is no attempt to ask quietly or politely, no attempt to look at the system! your always made to feel ashamed for being disabled! There should be notes on the system and people should be discriminated against or be made to feel ashamed for being disabled or poorly. It's puts us off collecting our meds we need regularly! The way they deal with this needs looking at! I will be contacting the pharmacy also when I can get through.

After calling to check if a prescription was ready as no SMS received I was rudely told this is a "Free Service "& if the facility does not have the funds to send a message they have no facility to know which SMS have actually been sent. I have been questioned in front of other customers why I am exempt from prescription charges - not even a discreet conversation, I also heard this type of conversation when somebody has given their name & address and then the employee stated the customer was in receipt of benefits. This in my opinion is not professional. I now refuse to collect my prescriptions in person after being humiliated by staff. I would most certainly not choose this pharmacy to seek medical advice as we are encouraged to do to ease the burden on GP surgeries.

Dear Patient thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry you feel that the service we provided has not met your expectations on this occasion. We value that you have taken the time to give us feedback to improve. We were all saddened by your comments about not using pharmacies for medical advice and welcome the opportunity to respond to your point in turn. We hope that you will reconsider your decision and visit the pharmacy in the future. The SMS text message service we offer is not provided by the NHS, but is something we choose to offer and fund ourselves in order to deliver a high quality service to our patients. We send over 1000 individual messages each month. From time to time unfortunately we do experience issues with texts not being sent or received and understand this is frustrating. Often issues occur due to network and provider problems, or because part of the process is done manually so is sometimes subject human error leading to messages being missed. If you are ever unsure if your prescription is ready for collection we are always happy to receive your call to confirm the prescriptions status. As an NHS business we are acutely aware of the confidential and the sensitive nature of the information we hold as part of our work. In order to protect NHS revenue, it is a contractual requirement for all pharmacies to perform exemption eligibility checks on behalf of the NHS. We make the majority of these checks electronically, but have to make manual checks whenever the system does not have a current exemption status stored. We always endeavour to make these as discreet as possible. Our pharmacy is still socially distanced so the closest another patient should be is 2 meters and this increases the level of privacy. If you feel you need more privacy we have a consultation room away from the counter where conversations cannot be over heard. Please be assured the information given is only used for the purpose of detecting NHS fraud and is stored safely by the NHS. We never would want any customer to feel humiliated when giving this information to us. Unfortunately you have chosen to post your comments anonymously but should you wish to discuss how you feel we can do this better please feel free to give the pharmacy a call and we can discuss it together.
