  1. Review titled failure to dispense

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I have no idea what is going on with Barker's pharmacy. For nearly a year they have failed to dispense prescribed amounts of medication, and none at all now. I was very tolerant of the extended period when they did not either dispense the correct amount, sometimes none for several months at a time, when I knew there was a national shortage of the medication. The week before last I ordered a repeat prescription of a medication I have been taking for well over a year and which I know there is no shortage of. I ordered the medication through an app my surgery use for prescriptions now, which informed me that my prescription had been approved, but when I went to collect it they denied all knowledge, but offered to re-order it themselves and told me that unless I had had a text from them I should not go to collect anything. 5 days ago I ran out of the readily available one and still had not received a text. I checked the app, which now told me I had ordered 10 types of medication, some of them twice, all of which I am prescribed on repeat, but other than a few of them I had not ordered and seldom ask for as they are as needed doses. It surprised me but again said they had been approved by my GP practice. I waited for the text from them but still none came. I have to fit pharmacy visits around my work life and having taken half a day off I decided to wait another couple of days. It is now a week since my prescription was originally approved (knowledge of which was denied by Barkers) and as they have very limited weekend hours it is not possible for me to go and ask them why I have not received their text telling me I can collect the prescription. I have now started experiencing strange physical sensations which I did not know what to attribute to. Until I checked withdrawal symptoms from the medication. I cannot sleep and know there is nothing I can do, and may even have to re-order the meds if they have ignored the first ones. I don't think I should have put up with being given short amounts of the scarce one at all and will now write a formal complaint about wrongly dispensing it, which is a real shame as I have had a really good relationship with them and always respected the fact that it is their ordering spine that is unable to fulfil their obligations, not the local branch, but as I have been told the withdrawal from this drug can lead to serious side effects, I am reluctant to accept any short-changing in future. The withdrawal symptoms are so far annoying (protracted headaches and formica) but know that If I experience further issues I may have to go to the hospital to resolve them. A terrible waste of NHS resources caused by Barkers simply failing to behave professionally by overriding the instructions of my GP practice.

  2. Review titled Fantastic pharmacist.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

The female pharmacist at this chemist is absolutely amazing. Since she has been working at this chemist she has helped me with any problems or questions I have had. I experienced re occurring oral thrush recently and my doctors couldn't figure out why. The pharmacist figured out why within 2 minutes. She asked me what medications do I take and do I use an asthma pump that has steroids in it. She looked up on the system and told me that the fostfair i take would most likely be the culprit. I would really recommend this pharmacy to anyone.
