My repeat prescription was cancelled by the pharmacy as it was not collected. However they did not contact me to ask if it was still required. This is a long term medication which should not be stopped suddenly. When I attended to collect the prescription I was informed that the repeat had been cancelled. On that day the staff were helpful and contacted my GP to request an urgent repeat and then dispensed an emergency supply. On return to collect the repeat prescription, it was not there and I was informed they couldn't dispense any further emergency supply. As it was Saturday, my GP was not open. They asked me to contact 111 repeat prescription service who would be able to provide an emergency prescription. I contacted 111 and they sent through a referral to the pharmacist. When I returned to the pharmacy, there were 2 other people in the store waiting. I was dealt with by staff however this was done in front of the two other waiting customers and I was told that the referral wouldn't allow the dispensing of the repeat prescription. If I was to receive another emergency supply I would have to pay a full prescription fee for the 3 day supply and then when collected the actual supply another prescription fee would need to be paid. There were much better ways this situation could have been handled by the staff which would have avoided causing me stress, anxiety and embarrassment. I left promptly to avoid further embarrassment and just have to hope that the sudden stop to this medication does not cause any problems.
