Our local pharmacy service is as valuable as our GP. We trust it will be there for us and be able to ease difficulties when we ourselves are ill or vulnerable. I wish I could say that I have faith in Boots at Whetstone that they will fulfil such needs. I have a repeat prescription every two months and on several occasions in the past couple of years I have had a query, either about the medicines or the delivery of same. Being housebound means that I need to make contact with the pharmacy and this is where problems arise at Whetstone. On this last occasion, for example, my meds had not been delivered on time and I tried for 3 days phoning every half hour to contact the pharmacy but No-One Answers! There are no other options either. This causes me unnecessary distress and disruption to my medicine cycle, which has detrimental effects. I appreciate that staff are busy but they have to realise that on the other end of the phone is someone becoming increasingly upset at lack of response from this vital service.

If you want to have your medication names shouted so everyone in the vicinity knows what health problems you have, go here. If you want to be spoken down to, go here. If you want to be given mis information, go here. And finally if you want to deal with the most uncompassionate Pharmacists and assistants ever, go here. Add on the half hour queue time and it's quite the trip out, especially if you're in pain from your illness. If you're lucky they sometimes reduce you to tears for no extra cost.
